Pepos Xul-Ha

We stayed in Pepos for two nights. Not only is it a magical location, but we felt instantly welcomed by Patricio and Israel. The room was clean and comfortable. The facilities are great, it was lovely to have a warm shower after swimming in the lagoon. You can take the kayaks out on to the lagoon which was really fun, along with relaxing by the water. Breakfast was delicious - fruit and Mexican eggs along with great coffee. Easy to order food and groceries to the spot. Can’t recommend enough!

Beautiful place to stay, such a lovely part of the lagoon, and free access to all the boats and paddle boards, and kitchen was so nice. Felt like it was our own vacation home. It’s not a place to socialize, would recommend coming with a friend or partner to enjoy together. Not much nearby, bring your own food for sure, but we did find a restaurant on the main road. We didn’t receive much of a free breakfast as advertised but when we asked they cut us up some nice fruits.

Would very much recommend! Wie had a chill time! Wie arrived by car and very much enjoyed the flexibility to explore the area around bacalar.

Pepo’s is an amazing place to stay near Bacalar. The cabanas are right on the water front and you can use the kayaks and paddle boards for free. The views are stunning and it’s very peaceful. Rene was really welcoming and informative, and his dog Frida made our trip. You need to rent a car or get taxis if you’re planning to visit Bacalar but you could equally just stay at Pepo’s the whole time. We’d also recommend doing a food shop in Bacalar before you go. Overall 10/10

Pepo’s is one of the best hostels we’ve ever been to! An incredible place with the most beautiful views, all round an amazing experience. The staff are super friendly - Israel was so nice and helped us out on multiple occasions, including buying us mosquito spray, ordering us pizza and taking photos for us. Mari and Sephora are lovely too and served us fresh fruit and chilaquiles for breakfast. You are able to use the kayaks and paddle boards provided by the hostel, which was super fun als...

This is an amazing place to relax. You are right on the lake and can swim as much as you’d like or use the kayaks or paddle boards. We were often the only guests there so it was like private lake access. It also includes a delicious local breakfast prepared by Israel and his partner including coffee, fresh fruit and a main dish often including fresh handmade tortillas. I would definitely recommend staying here. The only thing to note is it is a 20 min cab ride from Bacalar.

¡Super recomendado! El entorno es precioso, tranquilo y natural. Estuvimos muy cómodos en nuestro alojamiento: fresco, limpio y comfortable, al igual que los servicios. Utilizamos los kayaks, las tablas de paddle surf, chalecos… estaba todo incluido y nos encanto poder pasear por la laguna. La atención fue inmejorable, Israel, siempre atento, nos dio el mejor servicio. El desayuno también muy bueno. Recomendamos este alojamiento especialmente para parejas. Un diez!

Great accommodation right on the lake. You can use kayaks and SUPs free of charge, which is highly recommended. There aren't really any shopping facilities in the town and it's not easy to get to the next larger town without your own car. Nevertheless, I recommend the hostel 100%, one of my favorites of my trip.

Our stay at this accommodation was a truly serene escape. The peaceful, laid-back atmosphere provided the perfect setting for relaxation and unwinding. Israel’s kindness and genuine care for our comfort made our stay even more enjoyable. The included breakfasts were delicious and filling, exceeding expectations. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat to enjoy Xul-Ha Lagoon and immerse yourself in a good book, this place is an ideal choice.

Perfect place for relaxing by the lake away from the crowds of Bacalar! Everything was clean, tidy and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. Free use of kayaks and paddle boards was great and Isra was such a lovely host always making sure you had everything you needed to enjoy your stay. Definitely recommend bringing food for lunches and dinners as there are no shops or restaurants close by and a taxi to Bacalar is 250 pesos each way if you don’t have a car.

A very very special place tucked away from the crowds of Bacalar town. Isra was a perfect host. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We spent 4 nights here and could have stayed 44 more. There are some small shops in xul-ha where you can get veggies and staples to cook. There are plenty of kayaks to take out or just soak up the view

We had an amazing stay at Pepos; the property is set right on the lake so you direct access to the water. The cabanas are well maintained and the AC welcome! There are free kayaks and SUPs which was a great perk. You are about a 25min drive from Bacalar town but it means you are on a really quiet part of the lake. If you are after a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting, then this is the place for you.

We got such a warm welcome here. It was easy communicating with the staff. Breakfast every morning around 9:30 with eggs and fruit. The cabins are cute, a little small but surely doable! It's a 10 minute drive to Bacalar Centro. At this place you can chill all day, enjoy the scenery, swim, kayak and all that. It was a wonderful stay!

Couldn't recommend Pepo's enough. All the staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, Patricio in particular what a great guy! If you don't mind being slightly remote and away from Bacalar the place is perfect, free use of kayaks and paddleboards on a lagoon practically to yourself is very special we wish we could've stayed longer!

If you’re looking for paradise, this is it. Patricio is great as well, nothing was too much. Kayaks etc all free and to echo what people have said, bring cash for deliveries or your own food. There is not much around so be aware!

Pepo’s aan de lagune van Bacalar was zo mooi! Zo rustig en vredig! 1 van mijn favorieten plekken waar we zijn geweest op onze vakantie in Mexico. We raden het zeker aan!

Lovely little place in Xul-Ha! We only booked one night but wish we had longer as this place is a little paradise. The owner is very friendly, and the free kayaks were a plus. Didn’t use the kitchen but looked well-equipped. Would recommend! So quiet also, we had our best nights sleep here!

Staying at Pepos was the perfect place to chill out after a few days in a party hostel in Bacalar. You can really switch off and appreciate the lagoon. The cabins are comfortable and the sunrise is beautiful. The prices is good value, considering you are right on the lagoon. Bathrooms are shared. There are no restaurants in Xul-Ha and shops aren’t close, so bring food with you or you can always order take away too.

Amazing place. Lovely staff. Great location. Good kitchen. Lovely room. Wish we could have spent a month here!! Free use of kayaks and paddle boards and free breakfast was great. Comfy chill out area. I will always look back fondly on our time at Pepos.
