What a nice place. Nice staff. Very good food for reasonable price. 20 min walk from the train station. But doesn’t matter for me.
The welcome was very warm! We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house!
Really gentle and happy couple even for small talk, always available and pretty comfy beds too. Definitely reccomend
It was a nice hostel and the staff was nice, however the last day we saw several bedbugs in our beds. We are now totally covered in bites..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 About a 20-min scenic walk 🌲 from the station—beautiful area with great food and an onsen nearby ♨️. Dorms had a few bugs (no bed bugs 👍) and we couldn’t find the heated blankets. Onsen water went from super hot to very cold 🥵🥶, and the walls were a bit moldy from steam. Free coffee ☕️ but no cups 😅. Beds slightly hard but comfy. Despite quirks, lovely stay in a gorgeous Nikko setting! 🍂🌸
Super cute location and comfy bed - really easy to walk to the nearest spa (just ask the helpful staff). It was not accessible by public transport, but a taxi up the hill only cost my 900 yen and it was nice to be hidden away in the mountain side. Cosy common space as well :)
Make sure to bring some mosquito spray in the summer. If it's raining then there is a chance to get attacked by leeches as well, when you walk up the way to the hostel. The owners are very lovely and the big common room is also a big plus!
A solid place to sleep, beds are comfy
The mattress is super uncomfortable, if you wants rest later to walk all day, isn’t the hostel
It's okay for only sleeping there. However, since there is no female dorm I didn't always feel comfortable. Plus, the toilets and the shower room smelled really bad... I would recommend to instead use the Onsen nearby. The common area and terrace smelled like smoke all the time so it's also not really comfortable to use it. The location is a bit far from the main attractions but it's located in a calmer residential area. All in all it was okay for 2 nights but I wouldn't go there again.
The hostel is nice but located far from the station, be wary if your have heavy backpacks. The bedding was clean but the room itself was dirty and the bathroom/toilet was not clean. The staff are very friendly but I think the hostel needs some investment
It has been the best hostel hands down since my arrival in Japan on the 22nd of April, and the 4th hostel of many more to come, but I already know I won’t find a better one. Coming from Canada it was a pleasure in meeting the husband and wife owners who both spoke fluent English. She cooked me a wonderful dinner although I was the only one there that night, and breakfast was the same, although there were several new patrons who arrived later. She went well out of her way.
This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at and is worth the walk from the town centre. The staff are so knowledgeable about the area and the food is delicious. The hostel is also so homely and a great place to meet other travellers. The beds are so comfy and warm. If I come back to Nikko I would absolutely stay here again.
Nikko park lodge was the highlight of my Japan trip, it’s in a perfect location in the mountains and still walking distance from town. The beds are super cosy with warm electric blankets and the overall facilities are perfect if you are looking for a peaceful place to rest after a long day exploring. The owners here are super friendly and helpful and they offer delicious meals for dinner and breakfast with free coffee and tea. Fantastic place to stay for anyone!
Worst smelling place I’ve been in all of Japan. The toilets and showers may have some sort of a mold issue. The dorms are adequate. The location is far from the town busses and the sights to see. The hosts were nice.
One of my favourite hostels in all of Japan, very homely and cosy living room with a tv and comfy sofas. Lovely helpful staff and the hostel is in a beautiful location in Nikko, walking distance from the station. Each bed had an electric blanket in there as well so slept amazingly.
I had such a wonderful time! Ken is an amazing host! There are heated blankets which keep you so cozy! I had one of my best night sleep honestly in my life here (11h). It’s surrounded by nature and just an 18 minute walk away from the train and main bus station which yo me was perfect! I would really recommend this place :)
Staff very kind and friendly. Visited in off-season so perhaps more in their own holiday mode as well. Men's room toilet was not attached to floor and leaking badly. Bathroom with beautiful glass wall, traditional stone floors, but absolutely freezing and not heated at all. Very unpleasant. A solid 20-30 minute walk from town, meals available at lodge, but have to reserve in advance which is difficult when moving around small town countryside and dependant on bus schedules. Beds were gr...
Very welcoming and concerned about making us feel comfortable. We were afraid because of some reviews that highlighted the dirt and insects, but they must have improved, since everything was very clean, recently painted and fumigated. 100% recommended.
Kind staff, offered a ride to the station! Not enough space for the bags in the dorm. Cosy with fireplace.
