Bathrooms were not cleaned often. My stay was for 7 nights. 5 out of the 7 I was there someone left used gum on the counter and towel on the towel rack. Both items were there for 5 days without being cleaned up. also at one point, there was poop in the bathroom shower, but knowing nothing had been cleaned for days, I chose not to use them I was too grossed out.
The location was great and Mo was very patient and helpful. The room was a good size but it felt very worn down, with old furniture and a dingy atmosphere. The bathroom was right next to my room and it was kept clean, but of course it can be awkward trying to get out quickly of a morning if someone occupies it for a while (which another visitor did one morning). And for a two-night stay it was pretty expensive, comparable to a hotel room with ensuite a little further out.
Great proximity, either via subway or walking. Shared spaces like kitchens and bathrooms were very clean. Nice that there are three kitchens total and one to two private bathrooms per floor. Pretty quiet, and no 'rowdy hostel' vibes. You won't find three drunk lads trashing the kitchen at 3:00am as they make some post-bar spaghetti, but you are also unlikely to meet your new favorite travel buddy (not that 'community hostel' feel). Only issues were it REÉKED of weed 24/7 and the rooms were dank...
It’s quite expensive for what you get, good location and shared bathroom was very clean. Our room had a boiler in it and was very loud during the night, no way to turn AC off so was quite cold during the night
There was no reception available when I arrived, and I couldn't access the hotel. Despite my attempts to contact someone via email, I received no response. This left me with no choice but to find another hotel in the middle of the night. Additionally, I have not received a refund for the booking.
Wish there was some one on the premises for when needing assistance.Do not know if there was someone there or how to contact in case of emergency. On site information printed out about check in/ out and area info would have been great . Very clean great kitchen and bathroom access on property.
Very weird hostel, stayed there for 4 days and only saw 3 other people the entire time, didn't see staff once. Rooms are tiny, very expensive for a hostel.
I loved it. Easy and Spartan. That's my jam, America.
The place has a great location and easy access. It has a nice vibe and was overall pretty clean. I stayed for 7 days in January 2024 and I was able to cook several times (the kitchen is well-equipped). Even though the kitchen and the bathroom were shared, I was never too crowded and rarely needed to wait to cook or take a shower.
El personal esta solo en el momento del check in, la limpieza es excelente, baño compartido (no esta muy claro en la publucacion) la ubicacion es excelente.
- They give you door code at check-in and then you will never see any staff again, there is no reception desk or any place where to find them. - The door code given to me is not working so I waited an hour outside to enter when another guest arrived. - The wi-fi is not working for anybody so you will see guests walking around complaining about it and searching for the staff, but there is no staff. Guests knocked on my doo r 3 times in their search for the staff.
It is exactly what it advertised. No TV no staff no shampoo or soap, but it is central and clean
Terrible experience! Staffless hotel, I got problems with my locker at night and had no one to help. I called the hotel and no one available after certain time. We had a full day without water and the staff did not do anything to accommodate (no even be kind and bring some bottle of waters). Do not stay there!!
The old building has a charming atmosphere and is located at a quiet side-street, which is really nice. There’s not too much traffic but you get to the city quickly. The staff was friendly. However, some aspects negatively impacted our stay. It probably has to do with the building, but the air-conditioners which are built into the windows are positioned so badly so that the windows are not fully shut. It got extremely cold in our room each night and we even caught a cold as the top of the bed ...
PRICE ONLINE IS NOT WHAT YOU PAY AT THE DOOR! Read the fine print!! Price on Hostel World was $82/night, received a confirmation email saying I would need to pay $97 because of added NY taxes, and then was actually charged $160 at the door because they added yet another $60 in "facilities fees"!! To top it off, the wifi didn't work and the room was so hot I had to open a window to sleep (in the middle of winter). I would not recommend and I will never go back!
Overall, very good facility to spend your time in NYC, especially when traveling alone. You can walk easily to both the city center and Greenwich, Soho etc. Bathrooms and kitchens are very nice and clean. I just missed a vending machine with snacks. Staff was nice when they were there but it was hard to get a hold of them. My radiator didn’t work on my last night and I desperately tried to find someone in the building during staff hours without success. Since there is no front desk, it was ha...
Very basic but clean and comfortable and met my needs for a short solo stay in New York without breaking the bank. Good location near Penn Station so easy to get to and from Newark Airport and into various parts of the city. Was able to easily check-in remotely when my plane was delayed and I was arriving very late. Would be good if more responsive to emails rather than having to call as this can be difficult internationally for foreign visitors. Overall I was happy with it and would potentially...
Todo muy bien, los ambientes de y la ubicacion es de lo mejor.
Great place. Very clean. Very comfortable. We got 2 large rooms and enjoyed drinking wine in our sitting area after days of being out and about. Staff wonderful and helpful. We brought blankets which we didn’t need. Could have used another towel. Windows opened. Our kitchen had a water boiler and cups. We brought melitta, coffee & cream. Not the nicest neighborhood but places to buy wine beer breakfast. Close to Penn Station.
