El Misti Hostel Ipanema

Lovely hostel felt very much at home and the staff are so friendly - cristal was so helpful!

A very smooth stay from start to finish. The hotel was spot-on, and the front desk team made a real difference—especially Christel, who was genuinely warm and helpful. Would definitely come back.

A wonderful stay! Loved this hostel, their staff (Jojo & Lucas are the best), and their events! Made my first time in Rio so memorable.

I had a great stay at El-Misti, it’s very sociable with lots of activities. The staff were extremely helpful, especially Cristal who gave me advice for my next destination and helped sort the transfer. I will definitely stay here again when I’m next in Rio.

Stayed at El Misti for 3 nights and honestly couldn’t have picked a better spot. The vibe is social without being chaotic, super clean, and in a great location to explore Rio. Huge shoutout to Clara and Eric—they really made the experience. Both of them went above and beyond with recommendations, from things to do during the day to the best spots to go out at night. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure guests have a great time in the city, not just at the hostel.

Super séjour à El Misti ! De mon arrivée avec un super accueil de toute l’équipe et particulièrement Cristal, toujours disponible pour aider et répondre à toute question. L’hostel est top, plein d’activités pour rencontrer de nouvelles personnes et les chambres sont cools aussi ! La meilleure auberge que j’ai pu faire à Rio, je reviendrai les yeux fermés et plus longtemps la prochaine fois 😁❤️

Stayed at El Misti and it was great. A lot of fun activities are planned by the staff. Jojo was awesome and super helpful. I definitely recommend staying at El Misti.

Great hostel in Rio de Janeiro! I had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere was friendly, everything was well organized, and it made my trip even better. A special thank you to Cristal, who was an absolute angel and helped me out with the Maracanã tickets!

The hotel staff was very nice and helped me throughout the whole trip. Each day had activities going on for meeting new people. The room was very nice and quiet

Well located. The staff are nice, especially Crystal. Rooftop and kitchen isn’t so nice, and not enough bathrooms and showers. 12 bed dorm shares one bathroom and none in common areas except for toilet on rooftop. Lots of events if you want a social hostel. Attached to bar so a bit noisy at night.

The hostel is in one of the best locations you can ask for. Very safe area (still be careful!). The reception staff were very kind (with some exceptions - one time my card was not working and when l called the reception guy to check he was upset l made him get up of his chair). The vibe is okay but very mainstream place and most of the time the people that come to the hostel are not the best. So much organized activities even if you have no plans it is perfect. Volunteers were very good people!

All the staff were wonderful and Crystal especially hooked us up and was so amazing! The only thing I wish the property had was a filtered water bottle refill station so I didn’t have to use so much plastic water bottles.

Le personnel est très bien et l’emplacement est génial. Par contre, un dortoir avec 3 lits qui sont superposés donc tu ne peux même pas t’y assoir tu ne peux que t’allonger, c’est interdit. Le rooftop tu n’as aucune vue parce que c’est obstrué par des barricades, et finalement dans les chambres on manque vite d’espace. Pour l’ambiance en revanche il prévoit pleins de sorties donc si vous êtes dans le mood de bouger vous allez être servi, si vous ne l’êtes pas prévoye...

One of the best hostels I’ve ever been in. The rooms are a bit small, but you never spend a second in them as the amazing staff keep you busy with activities and tours every day!!! Huge shout outs to Kristal at reception who was an absolute DREAM, my tour guide and fellow Aussie Perry, and Lucas at the restaurant ❤️ I miss El Misti already.

Amazing hostel, great activities, Cristal made everything so easy fun and nice for me as I was travelling with my friends, we had a great time
