Reef Hostel Manta

A barking dog will welcome you to the property and you will hold on tight to your bag as sketchy men look at you and you wait for a person to open the door. Then they will ask for more money than you agreed to pay and show you to your room. It will smell like a dead rabbit. The bathroom will have several puddles and the hum of the running toilet will sing you to sleep and continue its song until morning. They won’t bother to make you breakfast, watch out for garbage and glass on your way out.

Friendly staff, great location (next to a uni) safe area Our room #31 was on the top floor. Only room on this level, did have a funny smell from the bathroom and the space was a little tight, could definitely do with some maintenance/upgrades but still good enough. Hostel was relatively quiet during night hours, no parties or anything but no real atmosphere with other travellers. Breakfast each day was convenient (eggs, some toast or arepas, juice and coffee)
