Property was beyond freezing. Had to sleep fully clothed with hat, gloves and socks. Even with additional blanket on 2nd night. Hearing goes on for about 15 minutes every night and owner has full control. Bedding could do with a deep clean too. A lot of mould in bathrooms. Overall could do with a woman’s touch. Would expect this standard India but not in Japan. Easily my least favourite hostel experience in 2 months. Owner was generally ok. Not quite the bright welcome you usually receive here
I enjoyed my stay it was nice however it was a little cold as the heating wasn’t always on
I had a great time here. The owner is a really kind and caring person, and he took care of me and took me to see Sendai city from above, from one of the buildings. So if you’re in Sendai, stay here as we travellers need to support local independent businesses like this, so places that have a genuine connection like this won't disappear! Oh and a convenience store is just a minute away!
Auberge avec ambiance sympathique même s'il faisait glacial. Lits comfo, équipement sanitaires un peu vieillots

The facilities of this hostel have seen better times I guess. Still it's a great budget option in a quiet dead end road, within walking distance from the railway station. I loved sitting on the porch to enjoy the sunshine.
Really good place to stay. Would recommend. Great value for money. Loads of space for bags etc next to your bed, which is in a nice little nook separate from others; lots of privacy! Definitely don't expect the most luxurious stay, but for the price I think this is a great deal. Host was very nice and accomodating.
Very good everything recommend when you find guesthouse in sendai
I didn’t expect much here, but the owner was nice and kind, and everything was well organized. The wifi was a little slow but it was okay to watch YouTube. I recommended all of my friends. Don’t expect too much on the shower, but I like everything there.
It’s a very convenient location, with the Sendai station located 18 min walk with a malls and outlets. The Guest House is old school but very neat. The Host is very cool and helpful. Will most likely let you check in before 3. Just so you know, the payments are in cash so keep that in mind.
This is a run down old family home. No place to lock your luggage. Everything is quite old, the showers are moldy, futons smell of sweat. Toilets and sink are clean though. If you need a place to crash for a night this might be okay, but this is NOT a place you want to spend more time than necessary. We did not really feel comfortable there.
Booked for two nights but only stayed one. The host was super helpful and hospitable as other reviews mentioned, but the bed was a flat mat on the wood floor. There were spare blankets that I piled under me to try to make it better but the sleep was ultimately terrible. There was some black mold in the showers too. Laying down in the tatami common room was heavenly compared to my bed situation. Some of the other beds had tatami underneath them, but I wasn't so lucky.
if you're looking for accommodation which is affordable, conveniently-located, safe and (importantly) has lots of character and charm, this is the place. the beds were sooo comfy with lots of storage space for bags and a locker. the place is simple, but has so much charm. the man who owns it is very friendly but doesn't speak much english. there's clean showers and a kitchen area. cute japanese-style communal area and the guy can provide lots of good recommendations of things to do in town
it has everything u might need, the owner isn't the best at English but definitely makes a good effort. I met one new friend here, Sendai isn't an amazing place for American tourists or English only tourists since I think I met two people who spoke English in the entire city. but a great and only place to stay, winter does get cold so bring something warm to wear while sleeping. definitely a bit of a raunchy hostel but cheap and a place to remember.
Many people staying here loved it so I think maybe this type of guest house just didnt suit me as I'm a bit older and like things to be v clean. I found the dorm room too cramped and claustrophobic but the owner was nice and I met some lovely people there. Location v central and handy too.
I enjoyed my stay there, the people were nice. If you stay during winter, be prepared to be use the kotetsu a lot because it is very cold in Sendai and the house is not really heated or insulated. Great value for the price though !
It’s a guest house and the price is really cheap.
