The host was friendly and welcomed me personally. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel comfortable in the accommodation at all, since there was a lot of dust, dirt and the sanitary was not clean at all. There is that „nice kind of old houses“, when it is old, but clean. Here it was the opposite. It was just old, sold as traditional. I left already after one night, even if more nights were planned and paid.
Great stay!
A charming old house plus a friendly host.
Had a wonderful stay at Igusa Hostel! The staff ( Ishi i think) was super lovely and helpful, and gave me great recommendations. The hostel itself is super clean and organised, and i really liked the fact that it was a more traditional house with tatami rooms. 100% would stay here again!
A little out of the way, but it was perfect for a weekend away from tourists. The building is very original, I loved how original the garden was. Staff was very helpful.
Lovely spot for people visiting okayama
Amazing !
Great location, clean, awesome bar next door.
Pretty nice traditional guesthouse and the owner was really nice and helpful
Amazing house with great people running it, definitely one of the most relaxing stays I’ve had anywhere.
This hostel is definitely very unique. You don’t get a lot of privacy just due to how the hostel is set up in traditional style. But I didn’t mind. It’s a beautiful house and there’s a really nice kitchen and garden. It’s not really near any sites. It’s pretty far away from the nearest city which is Okayama. But you can take the train there pretty easily. Definitely not a tourist spot, it’s a pretty small little town but I personally liked that aspect.
This hostel is NOT in Okayama! There are trains, but not that frequent. No staff on premises and high occupancy, so garbage accumulated at end of day. You have to say EXACTLY when you want to check in, which is hard to do when you are backpacking. Only one sink, with broken tap, for at least 12 guests! Toilet is off the kitchen which is not great.. Nice garden and common room, but overall not great value for money.
Bit far away from the actual Okayama centre. But this can be a plus or minus depending on who you are. Hostel has a very beautiful and traditional rock garden and makes for a very authentic Japanese stay.
Best place ever, feels like you’re staying in an authentic Japanese house. Beds were super comfy, I got a great sleep.
Very traditional Japanese house, comfortable stay , quiet and beautiful, but surrounding there’s nothing special to visit. Anyway it’s nice and worth of your stay.
It was a very relaxing, quiet, and comfortable place to stay. Mr. Ishi, who runs it, is a lovely guy. I planned to stay for just 2 nights on my way to Naoshima Island, but I ended up staying longer, enjoying the garden, & working remotely.
beautiful place, very comfortable, clean, pleasant, very kind and friendly staff, I highly recommend it
