Small hostel, so not much vibes but incredible location and the beds are THE MOST comfortable I’ve had all month !
Really enjoyed it here. Chill environment, can be introverted if you want, and can also be social. Great location!! Right at the heart of GL. Bathrooms and showers could be cleaner, but pretty decent overall. Pretty small hostel, not as much amenities as bigger hostels so no pools, bars, etc.
Decent hostel
Very clean, and the acs were on 24/7 and nicely cold. Cheap too. Not social but i don't think it's meant to be that.
Rue très bruyante, mais bon séjour
The hostel was cozy, rooms had lockers and bathrooms were quite nice. Also, upstairs had a common area with a small kitchen. My negative would have been the lack of communication by the staff when the water went out for the day, they really should have explained what was going on.
Beds were comfy, two pillows and a duvet. lockers were broken though and space in the rooms is very limited. No atmosphere at the hostel but it is right next to El Lobo and Beach Club for good night vibes.
Really nice place overall. However the staff was just never there?
Matcha was in the perfect location, very clean and has a nice rooftop (and hot water in one shower). However, we found the place to be really unsociable. The music from the restaurant downstairs is on from 7:30/8am until late at night and the doors to the balcony don’t shut properly. The staff were nice but not there enough to answer any questions. Lovely hostel but wouldn’t stay here if you’re looking for the social side of Siargao!
I arrived at matcha hostel early to drop off my bags. a couple hours later while i was waiting outside they told me they overbooked the hostel and i had to stay somewhere else for the same price. they ended up over charging me about 1100+ pesos and i almost didnt notice until the next day. when i called them it seemed as though they were already aware of it because they said they got me mixed up with another girl so it surprised me they didnt reach out to give a refund. it felt really shady.
the staff were lovely and let me check in early after a really long flight with no sleep, the beds are the most comfortable i’ve stayed in at any hostel but it is quite noisy being next to the road, everything was clean, hot water showers were good, just not very social but a convenient walk or bike ride to places with more of an atmosphere
good spot right in the heart of GL! staff were super lovely and helpful. only thing is that the lockers weren’t working + no room keys so things weren’t super secure, and not the most social hostel but you can easily find that in siargao :))
Pros: Location, the shared kitchen (helpful for when you wanna tipid), cleanliness, the staff. Cons: Limited dorm rooms so if you plan on extending your stay last minute, chances are a bit low and you’ll be asked to transfer rooms and beds every time which can be a hassle.
Love this hostel so much! I’ve been here twice and their staff is amazing. 🙌🏻
I LOVED MATCHA HOSTEL
Amazing staff. Clean and safe place to stay. I was able to sleep well in my bunk. Near to all places. Love it here!
Really nice little hostel right in the middle of general luna. Quite loud as it’s right on the main busy street but the bed was very comfy and the staff are lovely!
Best hostel ever, the location is perfect in General Luna. The best part is the people I’ve met at the hostel that gave me the best stay ever ! Thank you Matcha 🫶🏾
I stayed at Matcha Hostel for 10days and had a great experience overall. The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially at check-in. The common areas were cozy and a great place to meet other travelers. The dorm room was clean and the bed was comfortable with a personal light and outlet. The bathrooms were cleaned daily. The location is perfect just a 10minutes walk from the beach and very close to shops and restaurants. I’d definitely stay here again!
The accomodation was lovely and there was plenty of space in the dorm beds. Something worth mentioning which we found incredibly frustrating was that the windows to the street did not shut completely so we were woken up before 8am to the music the bar next door was playing ridiculously loud. Location was good for food and drinks though but this was a bit of a let down so they should try and agree with the bar to not play music before a certain time.
