I’ve been lucky enough to travel 5 continents, staying in hotels, hostels, communes, and dorms. This was the worst. The owner is inattentive, dispassionate and disingenuous. When any issue is raised he blamed his over cleaning lady rather than taking accountability for his own business practices. -No hot water -No on-site staff -No working plugs -Bins overflowing used toilet tissue -Dusty and mouldy bathroom -White mould infested coffee machine -Overlooked “private” room Don’t come...
nice hostel. bit of a strange setup as communication with the owner is via WhatsApp and there's no staff onsite. very quiet when I stayed so not social but the peace and quiet is nice! it could be a good place to book a dorm and possibly get it to yourself!
Property was very private on the outskirts of town. They did not communicate entry to the building and I was locked out. No reception, you need to call/text the owners.
Beds, rooms, shower, kitchen are great! Just outside of Central Antigua (in Jocotenango). A safe 10-15 min walk to the famous arch, but affordable and closer to locals. Location feels safe. There is no host on site. You let yourself in and out via Whatsapping with the host, which why less than full marks on security and hosting. I could see potential for solo traveler security concern in the dorm due to no host. There were no other guests with me, very private! More like an Airbnb experience.
We loved our time at Casa Las Lajas! Rooms are quiet and property is very secure. Even felt more like a shared house rather than an accommodation. Well equipped kitchen and dining area. Jonathan the owner is amazing and was always happy to help with any of our queries or issues! Thoroughly recommend!
So Amazing, has a fully stocked kitchen and amazing wine.
