Ventana Sur Hostal

Favourite hostel we have stayed at in our years of travel, it feels more like a home. Exactly how a hostel should be run and we hope to be back at some point! Thanks Ivan and co for making our stay so great.

Easily in my top two hostels I’ve stayed in so far. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The communal areas are like living rooms and promote relaxing/socialising. Best free breakfast I’ve had in a hostel ever. There’s a pool which I didn’t use but it looked very clean and it was nice to have the option. The host Ivan was kind and generous - he put on a BBQ for everyone at no extra cost. Only thing is that it’s cash only. Make sure you don’t pay “last minute” or Ivan ge...

It was the best hostel I stayed at during my six-week trip. The beds and bathrooms were very clean, and both the owner and the volunteers were friendly and welcoming. I arrived quite late and still managed to do my laundry, which I really appreciated.The kitchen was well-equipped and clean, the pool was great, and there were plenty of comfortable areas to relax. The size of the hostel was perfect for meeting other travelers and socializing. Adding curtains to the beds would make it even better.

Ivan is an amazing host. Received very helpful recommendations and advice for travelling in Santiago. Felt very welcome in this hostel. The hostel is located in a great area with lots of cool cafes and restaurants. Would come back anytime!

I rarely leave reviews, but I have to say this is the best hostel I've ever stayed in! Ivan is truly an amazing host, very arranging, and if you're nice with him, you might get some free pisco sour ;)

One of the best hostels in the world. I’m writing this review a little while after having stayed here and I feel like the memories I made are only getting sweeter with time. Everything about this place is great. I’d seriously consider coming back to Santiago just to stay here. It has such a special atmosphere that makes it incredibly easy to meet and interact with others. Seriously, book this place for longer than you maybe would have originally planned. Such a unique oasis. Highly recommend...

Can’t recommend enough. Small and homely with an inclusive and bright atmosphere. Great fresh breakfasts every morning where it’s easy to meet everyone and Ivan was very accomodating in all aspects of the stay. Easy to see why the rating is so high after staying!

This hostel is so special. Ivan is hilarious and has cultivated such a special atmosphere. the morning breakfasts are such high quality and a lovely way to meet people. It's really social in the evenings as well always with people around to chat to

Great place to stay. Ivan was very nice and accommodating. I missed breakfast both mornings I stayed because of early excursions, but he left me coffee and something to eat anyway. The private double room was spacious with a clean bathroom. Location was excellent, surrounded by a lot of restaurant options and near a good supermarket (Tottus). The vibe was positive and social. It was a bit loud at night with people socializing, so bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper or have early mornings.

This has been my first hostel at the beginning of my travels and I couldn’t recommend enough! It’s got such a cosy, homely atmosphere and Ivan is so welcoming and happy to give you any recommendations you need. Really social and I’ve met some lovely people already which has made the start of my trip feel so easy! If I’m ever back in Santiago (which I hope to be as this city is amazing), I’ll definitely be back to Ventana Sur! Thanks so much :)

Just the best hostel! Immediately felt like a big family, I arrived for BBQ night which Ivan cooked to perfection and the other visitors were so lovely too.It's very sociable without being forced fun. you will have the best time here, cannot recommend it more!

Iván es una persona muy acogedora con un excelente sentido del humor y amor por su trabajo. Si sumas eso con la excelente actitud del staff, las muy buenas instalaciones del lugar, y perfecta ubicación, te das cuenta que es uno de los mejores lugares del mundo para pasar tus vacaciones. Vibe is unique and has a swimming pool. Incredibly easy to meet people, different feel to most hostels and owner is a leyenda

Truly a good and relaxing time during my stay. The Kitchen was super convenient even though a little bit small. Everything was clean but the rooms might need a little bit more furniture to be perfect :)

Great hostel, highly recommend staying here, would stay here again. - owner was great and organised social activities - lockers provided (big enough for valuables but not bags) outside of room - hostel is clean - breakfast is simple but very good - very social atmosphere - would recommend to solo travellers - location is safe and very good with restaurants and cafes

A estadia no hostel Ventana Sur foi excelente. O Ivan é muito atencioso no tratamento comigo e percebi que ele também é assim com outras pessoas. O hostel tem um ambiente bem acolhedor e promove alguns eventos, como churrasco, entre outras atividades que ajudam na integração dos hóspedes. Eu me senti muito bem recebido e é um lugar que recomendo para todos.
