Great hostel overall. Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a really good atmosphere. The location was convenient and close to everything I needed. Would definitely stay here again.
Had a really great stay here. Good events, staff are really friendly and helpful - I will definitely be returning:)
Had a great stay! Lovely hostel, very clean and amazing location :)
I really enjoyed my stay here, atmosphere was welcoming, the location is great, close to the train station, also the free dinner was really nice. Loved it!
I loved my stay here. Good location and facilities. Many events and friendly staff!
The staff were friendly and the hostel had everything you would need for a comfortable stay.
I really enjoyed my stay at Mad Monkey Potts Point. I was welcomed by Sam on front desk who was very helpful with checking me in and helping me to find my room. The facilities were clean and I liked my room, the bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Free dinner every night was an added perk!
Couldn't shut the window in the room so I got to breathe in cigarette smoke and weed all day. Pillow was super thin. Some very dodgy people nearby. WiFi was the worst I've ever experienced. Room was not cleaned properly (under beds, old clothes not removed). The dining room was awkward and not relaxing. Long stayers always hogging the TV room for gaming. Stove tops require a lighter to ignite. Big cockroaches. No hairdryer. You have to be mad or desperate to stay in a Mad Monkey hostel.
Good but basic hostel worth the money considering it’s the cheapest in Sydney and the free dinners are really good. Location walkable to a lot of things. However I found some of the volunteers & staff quite cliquey and didn’t feel very welcomed by them - I feel they should instead be friendlier and encourage people to get involved
Overall a great hostel with a free dinner each day and different activities for guests to get involved which each evening too, very social and good location. Some of the staff were really lovely, but overall they didn’t make it a comfortable environment to stay in. As there were a large number of volunteers living at the hostel it felt more like we were intruding in their space rather than being able welcomed and encouraged to get involved
I had a nice stay here, the location was fantastic you can walk anywhere and I met some lovely people here but the hostel itself it’s tiny there usually no where to sit there’s only two showers per floor that are always occupied and most people who stay there are long term so it’s a cliquey group tha don’t include you
Best hostel in Sydney!! Everyone is so social lots of events every night and free dinner 7 days a week! The location is perfect lots of food places near by and King’s Cross station less than a 5 minute walk. Great value for money, had the best tome
Very nice and social hostel with events daily. Good value for money, especially because of the free dinners every night. Staff was nice and helpful. Location is great too. Also a very nice bonus was the water machine, so I could get cold and fresh water whenever. But bring a water bottle as there sometimes was lack of cups 🤣 I’ve stayed here before and I keep coming back! Therefore I gladly recommend this hostel to anyone :-)
Lovely welcoming staff, nice clean rooms and bathrooms, fan in room so heat was easily bearable. Would definitely recommend, lots of opportunity to meet new people!
10/10 all round experience! Staff make you feel right at home! Loads of fun activities and meeting loads of cool people!
As a young solo female traveller, I felt comfortable staying here. The price was great, especially considering the location and the fact that dinner was included. The staff and other travellers were friendly and fun to chat with, which made the stay more enjoyable. The room did get a little hot, but that’s also to be expected during the summer heat. If you’re on a budget and just looking for a reasonably priced place to stay, I’d recommend it. The only downside for me was that there wasn...
The property was definitely a party hostel, so great for a short weekend stop over if you want to go out. Most of the hostel are there on a long-term basis so there are a lot of cliques. I found that the staff didn’t integrate well with people, even throwing paper at guests on one evening, however when speaking 1:1 most of them were pleasant. The rooms were cleaned daily and had a deep clean regularly. There were only 2 girls showers/ toilets per floor so these were busy and could get very dir...
I stayed here about 3 years ago and the experience was good. However this weekend was awful. The hostel was filthy and smelly. All the sinks clogged all the time. We spent 2 days without toilet paper. We also spend over 35 minutes in line to do check in, which is pretty wild… There’s no air on which in the Australian summer is pretty wild, and absolutely no air flow. Prepare to sweat your a** off. Hallways stank like piss, and the room like human sweat. The bathrooms were absolutely disg...
Mold in bathrooms. No AC and rooms smelt very bad. Cleaners put a box on my bed which left dust all over my sheets and a wet mark on the bottom. Homeless people outside and in the hostel. Cramped kitchen which is shut for half the day and hardly a social area. Paid so much money a night and really disappointing stay.
Dirty, L staff, no curtains. I’ve been to mad monkeys everywhere and this is by far the worst one. The bathroom situation is awful, there’s far too many people and not enough bathrooms or showers and they’re all dirty. The storage for bags is in the common room outside of the bathroom so there’s bags all over the place and they block the bathrooms. There’s no aircon so we were melting. The dude checking us in took 25mins to check us in bless him lol. A mess. Laos mad monkey mogged this...
