So incredibly hot in some of the rooms. But they will look after you if you’re nice to them!
My second time here. The open air 3-level atmosphere is simply splendid. Every morning on the top deck is a blessing and bird-lovers paradise with views of the lake and Volcàn Maderas. Staff are super friendly and accomodating. Prices are quite reasonable, breakfast delicious/affordable and endless interesting and fun guest interactions. Be a lazy crab for a day, a week, or however much time you can spare!
Very nice hostel with nice and helpful staff! :)
Overall weird vibe, my room was really dirty and there was lots of shouting by men throughout the evening/night. Okay for one night but didn’t feel the safest
Gezellig hostel en goede sfeer, personeel is ook super behulpzaam. Enige minpunten zijn de ietwat vieze keuken met veel te weinig pannen voor de grootte van het hostel en de zeer lage waterdruk. Verder prima kamer!
The place was very nice and you can also rent scooter there. The dorm was alright. Maybe the kitchen had a lack of equipment, since there were only 3 pots and 2 pans.
bit of a musty smell in the rooms. volunteers were helpful and friendly, we asked a staff member for an extra fan which he gave us. not social, but good for a night or two. location is okay but u deffo need to hire a scooter/atv to get around. the free breakfast was nice.
decent hostel located in Balgue. the hostel itself is nicely designed with lots of hammocks and places to chill out. unfortunately when I was there it was very quiet and unsociable. the dorm was cramped and hot and uncomfortable. facilites are good - okay shower, decent kitchen. you can rent motos from the hostel which is handy. staff and volunteers were helpful. overall it was a good stay but nothing special
really chill hostel. wasn't too social when we were there but there were 3 of us so was nice to chill out in the hammocks and play pool. yoga mats you can borrow too. staff really nice and the guys renting bikes were really good and thorough at checking you can ride, taking you out for a test. some really places to eat nearby too. good value for money :)
Absolutely loved this place
very chill and card payment accepted. i enjoyed my stay
Schlechteste Hotel auf unser ganzen Reise. Das Bett hat gestunken, Zimmer war dreckig. Würde ich niemanden empfehlen
Not a fan at all. Showers freezing cold (it’s a LATAM thing but this was frigid cold water, other hostels across Nica are at least lukewarm/room temp). Volunteers were aloof and rude imo (all my door-mates agreed they seem bothered when you had a question to ask). Vibe was rather dead, and the facilities didn’t make up for it. Go to El Pital for nicer amenities or Raindance for better vibe. I thought this place would be the happy medium between those other two places, and it wasn’t.
Very chill hostel. Pretty clean place. See the odd bug crawling around but nothing major. If you can’t handle roosters crowing at 4:30am onwards, dogs barking and birds chirping, probably isn’t for you. Very reasonable and good breakfast options offered.
Cool hostel in a great spot to go around Ometepe. Covered motorbike parking lot, large shared spaces, free pool table. Kitchen could be equipped a bit better
The overall vibe of this place is cool but this wasn’t a good stay. All through the night the neighbors dogs barked and rooster began to crow at 11 pm and never stopped. The volunteers here were constantly so loud and yelling, they did turn off their music when we requested at 10:30 (quiet hours start AT 10…) but even in the morning they were just loud and annoying asf. Bugs everywhere and it smelled like wet worms iykyk. The owners were sweet and cool but wouldn’t recommend this place
Everything great here. Chill, social, and relaxed backpackers hostel. Room was good, with individual fans so not too hot. Breakfast available for $3.50 and they have a kitchen (fridge needs to be updated/doesn’t work). You can rent motorbikes, book taxi’s or grab the public bus. You have access to the small town of Balgue with restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Shout out to the volunteers, especially Liberty, Jade and Kristen.
Todo super bien!
Lazy Crab is a super fun and chill hostel, with great art all over the place and I even had the chance to paint a mural! Ryder, Anibal and Dori and amazing people who are willing to help you with anything! You can rent a scooter over there for a better price than in Moyogalpa, so it's worth it. Thank you for the beautiful stay! 😊
Really enjoy our stay at Lazy Crab. It is a very beautiful and calm place and the personnel was so nice with us. 100% recommand
