It has a very quiet and suggestive patio. Room was smelling mold...
A calm place in the middle of the rushing city. When we arrived I thought we had booked two daya and the man charged as de double of the price accorded in the application saying that it was for taxes. This taxes never mentioned in the application of hostelworld. Then we stayed a third day and they gave it for free, The place has a big potential but it needs somer re-accondition words deeply.
Horrible experience! I booked for 2 nights (made a mistake!) I checked out at 9pm coz I can't stand the place! The whole place is just not a good place to chill when in Chennai.. 180yrs old Muslim Palace they say The room is filthy you can't even lie down in bed full of bed bags! Cockroach 🪳 , ants and other insects. I got skin itching whole night till I scratched my skin too bad! Bought Cetirizine, Caladryll to heal my itchiness. I should have listened to the other reviews. Well you ge...
Relaxed and friendly place to stay right in the heart of Chennai. Amazing location and great value for money. Felt very safe and staff were very kind to us. Would definitely recommend !
If you love history, do book this place But not all the rooms are air-conditioned, you have to pay more for an AC room. Amjad was very helpful and in general, the staff was good. The property is over 200 years old so it comes with its issues (in terms of facilties anf how clean it can be), being a heritage property, they can’t rebuild it. The location is pretty good, museums and the beach are nearby. (Book rapido bikes, everyone else overcharged or asked for more money)
tres bon accueil matelas 1 peu dur
An aging building, but good staff and location. Convenient for metro to/from airport
Kunde ha bättre nätstationer..bättre / trevligare Madras kudde. ..och att man kan öppna trä luckorna..på dörren .. Trevligare stolar .. duschrummet ..någon hylla att ställa saker på. Mer krokar!! Spegel !! 🌴🇮🇳🌴🙏🌴👍👍👍
Needs heavy renovation In
My stay was terrible. The room was filthy, with a strong humidity smell and lizards crawling around. The walls were ugly, and the place was unhygienic. It was unbearably hot, with no AC or proper ventilation. It became so uncomfortable that I checked out at 11 pm and had to book another hotel because I couldn’t sleep. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to anyone seeking a clean and comfortable place to stay.
I really enjoyed my stay at Broadlands. Although the rooms are basic they have everything required for a comfortable and colourful stay. I love cats so for me having visits from the resident kitties was an extra bonus! The entire compound of Broadlands has a charm of it's own, it has character and history and for me it really works. The location is great, walking distance to chai, clean food, vegetable markets and mini supermarket.
Hard to find location for transport, with an obscure street name. Yet just a one block walk off a major street in Triplicane neighborhood. One smoking staff a downer. Most attendants didn't know basic directions to major facilities. British English Indian mixed language like a foreign language for W. Coast USA like me. Not just staff, all over Chennai. Taxi drivers were lost, wandering around, rude and expecting to be paid extra for their errors. :/ One rat ran through my room, taken
My stay at Broad Lands in Chennai was disappointing. The cleanliness of the hostel was below standard, and the rooms were not well-maintained. The staff was quite unfriendly and made me feel uncomfortable during my stay. Additionally, I had to pay more than the price initially quoted, which was frustrating. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.
Total waste of money. Felt cheated.
nice hotel with beautiful colonial architecture, but quite dirty and with a rude manager who overcharged me
I like the place´ atmosphere and its location. While it is away from the center, it is up on a hill and thus get a bit of wind. It is also nice located next to a pool. Staff was really helpful as well.
Thanks Amjaht and Krishna
Chennai's rental-real estate market is more open to high end hotels rather than yet to hostels and dorms. So if you want to stay within the main city at pocket friendly price in a beautiful place, then Broadlands Lodging House is definitely the place to go. It's a really old, well-preserved architectural marvel that will transport you in time and space to a very sustainably constructed maze of a building with beautiful stained glass panes. I loved my stay at Broadlands!
