Goed voor een kort verblijf
We stayed in a private dorm, and it was really nice! The location was good, but without a car it might feel a bit far away! The shared bathrooms were clean and there was always free showers and toilets. The kitchen was not equipped that well, but they offered a box with kitchen equipments for 5$ to rent or you could have your own ones!
Heater worked very well, the single room was clean and spacious enough, with a big window. The walls are very thin so I could hear the neighbor humming but he stopped after I told him to. It's just sth you should be prepared to do. Also, I'd wish it was explained at the check-in what this "box for 5 $" was. I had no idea and then saw in the evening that there aren't any plates or cutlery, pans and pots etc. for everyone to use like in a hostel - this would have been in this box.
Fridge space was a pain point throughout the trip and difficult to find space for even a small bag. Spaces were clean and well maintained. Having to rent cooking supplies/dishes was also frustrating because I wish it were more obvious at booking so we would have been more prepared as not everyone has been camping and carrying a basket of supplies to and from your room is not your average backpacking experience😂
Very nice place I would say with a great location, right next to the lake and 15 min walk to the center and services. Had a nice single room for couples of nights, the walls were paper thin though but it wasn’t a big deal. Large kitchen facilities and possibility to rent out kitchen utilities with a small fee.
Our cabin was a little bit on the small size for 4 adults (family) but the communal facilities were excellent - very clean showers and toilets and the kitchen was great.
Nothing in kitchen, have to rent basket of stuff $5 + $20 refundable, bed sheets weren't cleaned, staff were rude, dryers didn't dry ($4 for washer, $4 for dryer). $2 each to rent towel. Great location, close to lake. Kitchen basket doesn't have much in it. Staff weren't very friendly. Cheapest option for Te Anau but not great. Stayed in private double cabin, bad insultation and can hear noise around, no plugs by the bed.
Beware: they don’t tell you in advance that kitchen utensils are not supplied. You have to pay a $25 bond at reception to receive utensils, and no one tells you this in advance. Arrived as a late check in and had to bum a pot and spoon off someone, and couldn’t cook at all for breakfast the next day. Front desk argued with me when I asked for the full bond back, saying that this was policy. Policy I wasn’t informed of, but okay.
Loved it! Great value for money! We had our own little cabin! Pleasantly surprised!
Fine for 1-2 nights. I had a private room, it had a heater which was nice and needed. The bathrooms are super cold but at least the water is hot. You could do your laundry for cheap, which was nice. The kitchen is big and you get all of your equipment from reception. There are no bins in the kitchen though, which was strange. It's a bit far from the town center, 20-25 min walk, but close to the lake.
Dirty sheets and Doona in a smelly room very disappointing.
muy agradable
Great value for money! Nice private room and common facilities. Like the way the place disgined and the proximity to the lake.
I dont think it was nice at all
Cool place in Te Anau but not very backpackers friendly (nothing in the kitchen to cook)
Great location as far as scenery/beauty + distance to Milford. Room was very spacious & bed was comfy. Paper thin walls, so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. Good shower! Keep in mind you don’t get a towel (well at least I didn’t with my room), so have to pay $2 for one.
It was a perfect place to stay for the night before our walk
We stayed for one night. The toilet and bathroom were a bit old style. The gents shower room door was not closing properly. Automatic timer for lights in toilet and bathroom may not be very convenient or safe for young or older people. Kitchen had limited utensils to cook a meal (we didn't try). Providing some wiping clothes or paper towel would have kept the kitchen cleaner, but it was not dirty either. Parking was easy. Overall, it was a OK stay and offered a good value, so would recommend.
The rooms are really spacious and comfortable. The kitchens and social space are as well. It's a little way out of town (about 20 mins walk) but near the bird sanctuary. The kitchen doesn't have cutlery or much crockery- you have to pay to get access to some. Generally the place was very cold- it's a cold time of year but windows and doors were left open and the heating in the rooms isn't very strong.
Definitely bring earplugs- the hallways are very loud. Kitchen is pretty bare of utensils and bowls etc with no cutlery- fyi. Comfy and clean enough rooms, nice staff and good to be next to the doc centre and tracknet
