I truly have no idea why this place has such good reviews. You were lucky if you could get even a dribble of water to shower with - it felt like having a shower with a garden hose. The vibe there was also very strange with seemingly only one person working there and everyone else being volunteers that didn’t really know what was going on. I also rented two bikes when I was there and both were broken in some way and shouldn’t have been able to rent for safety reason (broken lights and mirrors...
MY FAVORITE HOSTEL EVER!! I really found my home away from home here. The hostel is so cozy, so many good places to relax and the common area is such an oasis. David, the hostel owner, is always open for a chat and recommendations and Gerald cooks you the best omlette in the morning. The location is amazing as well, 3 min drive from the Paliton beach. Its my second time on the island and my second time in the hostel and i would ALWAYS come back here. It’s the best place to get stuck 🫶...
The mattresses are covered in plastic, which gets very hot. The showers are cold and have no pressure, so washing your hair is impossible. I also missed out on toilet paper several times. There are people at the hostel in the evenings, but it is not very sociable like with activities and stuff. The people who work there are very helpful, though.
gutes Hostel. Leute Nett. Family vibes.
didn’t like this hostel at all, staff were very rude and unhelpful, drinks advertised but wouldn’t sell them, no room keys so doors didn’t lock, inconvenient location, rented a bike was told one price them when i paid on return was told more than id agreed to. clicky staff who didn’t want to talk to you at all and would ignore you stood at reception or the bar
Nice little hostel with a nice vibe. Location is also great since you can walk to the nearby beach and it is also not too far out from San Juan. Only downside is the water pressure is terrible. Sometimes the water was only dripping out of the shower head.
Prima hostel.
Facility’s very bad I must say but vibe and atmosphere really nice and very social!
Loved it here, such chilled and social vibes
Overall was quite disappointed but I believe that was a me experience staff seemed nice to people. Showers are cold and weak pressure unfortunately. Dogs and cats are well taken care of and are super nice
Fantastic little hostel. The staff and volunteers are lovely and will make you feel at home 😊. You can rent a motorbike and tour around the island. Restaurants and laundry nearby. The common area is fantastic and the perfect place to socialise 😊
Best hostel we’ve stayed at in Philippines by a mile. All the permanent staff and backpackers working there really make it special
The good: Great vibe. Chill. Nice common area. Social if you put yourself out there. No planned activities. Staff was nice. The bad: No hand soap. Just water and what looked like a bar of soap that was left by a previous guest. It had lots of hair on it, but it was the only soap provided. This means most people were not washing their hands with soap and also the staff. This is how food poisoning, eye infections, etc happen. Half the sinks and toilets didn’t work. Often no toilet paper.
Absolutely love the place. The owner is amazing, its super social and the common area is so good. Can’t wait to go back
I was disappointed after reading good reviews… For only 1 year old the facilities felt shabby - sinks & showers half broken. Beds are lined with a thick plastic protector that crackles anytime you move. Bed frames creak loudly whenever anyone moves. When I stayed there wasn’t much social atmosphere either
What an amazing experience. The volunteers and staff alike were so incredibly friendly, the dorms, and social areas are always clean and inviting, and the atmosphere just encourages you to stay longer each time! Thank you barefoot for such a memorable experience
