The reviews do not match my experience. I don’t know if they’ve let it go because it’s off season, but I saw 5 different cockroaches in the 4 bed mixed dorm room. Disgusting. There’s only someone working from 8-1 and I think I saw her twice during my three night stay. Also can’t lock your door and it was only me and a 80 year old man in the room next to me in the building it didn’t feel safe or comfortable. It either smells like cleaning supplies or sewer. I unfortunately cannot recommend this hostel due to serious safety concerns. There is no staff at the front desk after a certain time, and the rooms cannot be locked. While there is a keypad to enter the building, the code is shared with all guests—even those who have checked out—so it doesn’t feel secure. One of the nicest places I've ever stayed. Feels like a nice hotel. AMAZING kitchen. There are Q-tips in the bathroom (new, not used; ), real quality TP, the beds are great, with privacy curtains . There are lockers, with keys AND you even get a drawer!The owner and staff are super nice, however they leave in the afternoon, and so there is no one around to help,even by phone.And there wasn't even an information sheet explaining things like their filtered water tap in the amazing kitchen.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is great- far enough removed from the action that it feels more local, but still just a quick walk to get down to the beach. The kitchen is awesome, especially for such a small hostel. Some guests including myself had a confusing check-in experience. I ended up having to wait a couple hours after I arrived to finally receive my code to get in the building even though I arrived at the expected time.

Kualena is an oasis. Rooms are kept clean, including kitchen, common space and bathroom. AC in bedroom was great. Stainless steel throughout kitchen is spotless. Staff is very friendly and responsive. My only challenge was with Sunday arrival: they sent me the door code by text while in flight and I didn't have cell service, so I was stranded for hours before I found someone near the door to let me in. I've asked them to inform a day earlier so it won't be repeated. All else was a delight!

This hostel is in a perfect location and the staff is soo nice and really goes above and beyond. I was a solo traveler, and they made me feel welcome. The girl at the front desk invited me to go watch the sunset and with her and a group of people it was perfect and rooms are nice with privacy curtain and plug in's

The location was perfect for me, it was close to everywhere I wanted to go like the beach and markets. I felt safe here and the beds were comfortable. I liked the kitchen and common areas. I met a lot of travellers here.

Una agradable estancia. Por su puesto que regresaré. El precio y la comodidad. Me sorprendió. Totalmente recomendable. Hay restaurantes caseros cerca del lugar. Igual que tiendas y farmacias. Shelby es muy adorable.

Chambres propres, hostel sympa mais vide. Pas d’accueil, arrivée autonome, pas d’activités, si vous voulez être au calme c’est l’idéal mais pour rencontrer du monde même si ça peut arriver ce n’est pas l’endroit idéal !

Fantastic coffee place onsite - good when open. New fully stocked kitchen. They provide locker keys and a towel. I was there 4 nights after new years. No. Gas for hot water or stove but managed. The mattress did give me back pain. But the privacy curtains and outlets were great.

I would definitely stay again!! I did hear one woman saying her stuff was taken and moved however! Very clean, great privacy curtains, love the plug and light in each bed, good mattresses, A/C in the room at night, friendly travellers, great kitchen - perfect location! All in all amazing!! I'd choose this place if I needed to stay in PV again. There is a personal cabinet with a small padlock to store your stuff while you are out.

Mi mala experiencia fue de que a la 1 am otro huesped llego y me comento que tenia asignada la misma cama, igual teniamos la misma llave del locker intentamos contactar al numero del hostal pero nadie nos respondió al final acordamos yo dormir en un camastro al exterior y el usar la cama, por la mañana me acerque a los chicos de la recepción pero no pudieron explicar el problema, al final me retire y me realizaron el cobro de la estancia de manera normal 😑.

The location is good, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom in the dorm quite spacious. The shared kitchen was probably one of the best and cleanest I have ever seen in a hostel and a towel was included in the dorm room. Stayed in a ridiculously cramped 8-bed dorm. It was literally not possible to pass another person in the dorm without one having to back up. The 6-bed dorm looked slightly more spacious. The lockers were quite small too and needed a separate key.

Fue mi primer vez el trato muy amable la unicacion de mi cuarto super bien en el hostal y sobre todo la ubicacion para mis puntos de interes en vallarta fueron delo mejor y me senti seguro en el hostel si volveria a regrezar lo Recomiendo !!!!

The room are amazing, clean and privacy cartoon make it even better. I was their for 7 days and i saw the staff once... nobody is there to answer question or to give advice. Great little coffee shop in front. No activity by the hostel Maybe it was just that time of the years but i saw like 4 persons in 7 days and people were not chatty at all. One of my roomate was almost living at night making noise and light open at 2h30 am. But thats not hostel issus.😅

Kualena Hostel is a great place to stay. The location is excellent and the area feels really nice and safe. Everything is super clean, and the kitchen is very well equipped, anything you may need is there. The decoration is beautiful and makes the place feel cozy and welcoming. The staff and people around are very attentive and always willing to help. Special mention to Kally ! She was incredibly kind and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Super clean, great vibe, accecible location to busses and , beaches, restaurants, markets , great coffee on the property and tepache . Super nice kitchen, bathroom and shower in room as well As outside, community tables, outdoor seating, great weather, air condotioned... had a great time, volunteer host Kelly was superb! Martha kept everything spotless, felt safe amd secure, and would return in a heartbeat!!! Highly recommend!
