NO HOT WATER! NO SLEEP! NO GARDEN! If you just need a bed and are not bothered by dogs barking all night long - go for it. Otherwise no private light at your bed, nothing to store private things right next to you when sleeping and not even a power socket next to your bed… The garden shown in the pictures does not exist (which was actually the reason I booked this hostel). Also cleaning won’t wait till you’re awake. Pro about this Hostel: Good and cheap tours, mostly clean and made good fri...
Description is 100% inaccurate as there is NO reception, luggage storage, 24-hour security, or travel/tour desk. The facilities are poor (showers had no water at all and beds are very squeaky/shaky) and the host is quite unresponsive for check-in or questions and not very nice when responding. I cancelled my future booking and others staying there left multiple nights early. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere so you don't ruin your time in San Juan - there are MUCH better places and hosts.
ok, so they have me the wrong room, wifi didn’t work and no one was at the reception. i’m really not picky so i don’t care about that. the worst thing was, at night the guy i shared the dorm with got naked and stared at me and talked to me and started jerki*ng off, mind you im 21 and he was at least 28. i woke up and told the staff about it, who didn’t do anything about it, they didn’t even talk to him and he didn’t even have any consequences. i am really pised.
A mixed bag! (+) Majo (receptionist) was incredibly sweet and showed us her artwork. Location is good albeit down a small alleyway. There seemed to be many nice experiences available but we couldn’t participate as we got sick (see below). (-) Bathrooms were quite dirty. Beds didn’t have individual lights. Also my partner got food poisoning from one of the restaurants recommended by the hostel (he was sick for ~24hrs).
Although the owner is very friendly, I don’t recommend staying there. The rooms are very small, there are a lot of noises all around too (dogs barking kept me up all night even with earplugs), the common area is also very small (not enough space for everyone to sit at the same time). I had booked a few nights but ended up cancelling after one because it was too much for me. It’s also a little out of the city in a non-touristic spot with few lights at night and in an alley, not a street.
Es un hostel pequeño de 2 habitaciones compartidas y 1 privada. Queda alejado de la zona turística y se encuentra en un callejón que fue difícil de llegar. El personal es amable. Lo recomiendo si realmente quieren vivir una experiencia local.
It is a small hostel with 2 shared rooms and 1 private. it is away from the tourist area and is in a alley that was difficult to reach. the staff is friendly. i recommend it if you really want to live a local experience.
no kitchen& a bit out of the way from the center. It is a very small hostel, only two rooms and two bathrooms, so it feels a bit claustrophobic, especially since the common area has limited seating. The dogs are very loud at night, but that is everywhere in San Juan. I was a bit apprehensive staying here at first, but the host was very friendly and made me some food & I also got to do a bee tour & a weaving tour with them which was great! although it was a small hostel, I met some cool people!
I only stayed here for one night and it was nice but I wouldn’t stay here for longer. The hostel is kind of far away from everything and you have to walk a long off-street path to get there. The staff was friendly and the dorms were fine though. Just not very social, but maybe it was also because I was there off-season.
Hostel bruyant de l’extérieur à cause des chiens, sans cuisine et pas très friendly, cependant le personnel est agréable
Hostel noisy from outside because of the dogs, no kitchen and not very friendly, however the staff is nice
it’s very basic and doesn’t have much, the beds are okay and the staff are friendly. does seem that there’s still some work going on and is a bit far from the center of san juan, but is good for a night or two.

Awesome people!
The staff is absolutely super! Great activities planned with true local people. I found my bed really comfortable and got used to the dogs barking in the street. I would definitely come back! If the rooftop was done up as a common area it would be a 10/10 for me
A lovely hostel with a calm and chill vibe, away from the main streets. Majo and the team took such good care of me and I enjoyed my stay with them very much. It’s the perfect place to rest while enjoying San Juan and they offer very cool local-based activities. In general, I find it very genuine and harmonic. My only feedback is that the doors to the dorms need a bit more insulation, as it can get a bit noisy from the common area and the street. Thank you team!
Amazing hostel, staff are so lovely and friendly! Really recommend
There is only one bathroom for the house. It’s located on the edge of town. The shower is either blistering hot or freezing cold. No in between, and honestly a struggle. I decided to just not shower. Overall, tho, it’s a fun little place. More chill vibes with a focus on Guatemalan culture. No partying.
Leuk en goed hostel, ze bieden ook meerdere leuke tours aan
Nice and good hostel, they also offer multiple nice tours to you.

Staff don’t speak English but wasn’t a problem. Comfy beds, clean, respectful environment everything one needs in a hostel. If you are looking for a party hostel this isn’t it, otherwise I couldn’t recommend more. This might just be the best sleep of your whole trip, it was mine.

Staff are really helpful. Elena, Majo, and the volunteers were all very friendly and welcoming. San Juan is a very artistic place, and the staff rub several artistic classes there. I highly recommend the embroidery class!! would definitely stay there again. not to mention the friendly dogs and cats! only downside is no kitchen or utensils to cut or plates of any kind.
Would 100% recommend staying here. Nice chilled atmosphere, with lovey people, especially Majo (Who works there). They run lots of cool activities that help get you immersed in the local community. We did the cultural tour (Weaving, chocolate, honey & art) & the local dinner, where we had a lovely evening at someone’s house. The added bonus is the pets, it was lovely to hang around with the dogs.
Super sweet hostel, So Cosy with only 2 dorm rooms and 9 beds in the whole hostel, Elena and Majo were really awesome hosts, thank you for the great ( please note bring strong earplugs, every town in Lake Atitilan have stray dogs, that bark loudly through the night, please prepare)
Lovelysmall place, super chill, very clean, comfortable beds and pillows. Hot showers, amazing and helful owner Mijo.
4 Elementos was very cozy! The bed was comfortable and they had a nice space for working remotely. I loved the cute black cat they have!

Loved my stay at 4 Elementos. It attracts really chill and friendly people. This is also the vibe of San Juan which feels more raw and authentic. There is some street noise depending so do bring ear plugs. Wifi good. Thank you Majo and Elena!
Uno de los mejores hostales que me he quedado, principalmente por la dueña, el personal y las actividades que hacen. Son súper preocupados y logran crear un vínculo entre San Juan y los turistas. Pocos hostales logran realmente eso.
One of the best hostels I have stayed in, mainly because of the owner, the staff and the activities they do. they are super concerned and manage to create a bond between San Juan and the tourists. few hostels actually achieve that.
The beds were so comfortable, I didn’t want to get up anymore :D Elena and Maria were very welcoming and super helpful in helping me getting around in San Juan and doing some tours or taking shuttles. (Tours/workshops available are: coffee/cacao/cultural tour, Rostro Maya tour, weaving workshop …). I really enjoyed Elena‘s embroidery workshop. Sustainability and the community is important to them - which creates a very homey atmosphere for the guests as well (I wasn’t the only one sayin...
We loved our stay here! It was a quiet hostel but a lovely place to relax, recharge and enjoy the lake. Great offerings of tea/coffee/water, the owner is so lovely and can help with loads of activities, shuttles etc. Bonus points for the cute cat. Would recommended :)
Nice stay, I’d say it’s okay for the price. The staff were adorable. It’s very small so easy to make friends with the other people who stay there. Better to book the ensuite dorm bc otherwise there is only 1 bathroom available. So when it’s occupied there is no access to another sink, toilet or shower… The common areas is not the most comfortable and there are not a lot of chairs compared to the number of people staying there. However, they offer a lot of interesting tours & activitie...
