BED BUGS!! HORRIBLE!! Bed bugs in my bed!!! Old man yelled at me when I ask a refund!!! So aggressive person ! Disgusting place don’t go
Cheap mattresses that cause pain. Smelly bathrooms. Owner who became cold and mean once I *very politely* flagged an issue. Stuffy hallways. No wonder I only saw one other traveler there. Breakfast room was totally empty. Very disappointing. Left ahead of time as no sane human should live in these conditions.
We chose to stay at Marco Polo because of all the lovely reviews about the hostel owner and his wife - we unfortunately were not greeted by Sam but by a male employee who did not know how to use the computer system, asked me multiple times how much I should be paying to stay there, and then didn’t have any change to give when we paid in cash. After payment we were taken to our room which wasn’t what we booked (a twin instead of double with no desk and chair for working) and were told all the...
I stayed in a private room. The staff were kind and helpful, but the hostel is quite run-down and not very clean. The room had a musty smell, and the shared bathrooms weren’t well maintained. Street noise was an issue and made it hard to sleep. Overall, the condition of the place doesn’t match the high ratings, I wouldn’t recommend it, even for a short stay.
Had a very pleasant stay here, the hostel was quiet but homely and offered great advice on how to get about and use public transport etc. Staff were all friendly and helpful, the only negative I had was when I asked to extend an extra night I was charged more than what I paid on hostel world. Overall a good place to stay, and the free public bus stops right outside which is a bonus
The whole property had a funny smell. The common areas weren’t very comfortable so no one was hanging out. Laundry was very expensive to do my own washing, and there was no dryer even though they list having one.
Allerdings eher unprofessionell was planung und den überblick behalten angeht. Die Zimmer sind ok. Es riecht etwas komisch darin. Die Betten sind bequem jedoch eher instabil. Badezimmer sind gut. Das Feühstück war sehr gut. Man kriegt viele verschiedene Sachen. Das Hostel liegt ca 30min zu fuss vom Zentrum entfernt.
It’s an okay hostel for the price. Beds and area are fine but there were some issues. Breakfast was not free for me but an additional charge of 6MYR per day. Another girl I met paid the exact same rate (we checked) and wasn’t charged. So watch out for that. Room smelled really bad when I got there and had no windows. The AC was FREEZING at night. Credit cards are NOT accepted, so bring cash. The bathrooms are in the desperate need of a deep clean and the toilets don’t flush properly. An ok...
On arrival there was nobody on site to let me in so had to wait around for a while to get in which wasnt a great start. I had booked a mix 4 bed dorm and he tries to put me in a 6 bed. There was a horrible smell in the room with no window, and mosquitos. The only electric socket was behind only one of the beds which is not ideal when someone else is on that bed and you have to interupt them to plug anything in. It was a very dark building and old furniture that hadnt been changed in years

Incredible place, owners are absolutely lovely and really go out of their way to make you feel at home. So incredibly clean. AC works great, beds are comfy. Location is fantastic. Coffee is amazing. Met some great people and shared cost of Bako. Thank you so much!
Je recommande vivement cette jolie auberge, très bien entretenue et très propre. Les propriétaires sont charmants et d'une précieuse. Bien située, beaucoup de restaurants proches.
Lovely homely hostel. Friendly owners and great vibes from volunteer Jake - what a legend. Easy to meet other people and to make plans for day trips to all the great sights around Kuching. Delicious char kway noodles across the street at the stalls on the corner too. I extended my stay here twice!! Highly recommend.

Brilliant place and very informed members of staff. The breakfast was very good. The bathrooms weren't the best but clean.
The ouwners are really fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. If i go back to kuching, this will be my place.
Great owners - very friendly and informative
Super nice hostel with very friendly hosts. They give amazing tips for your trips and let you feel like it’s your own home. Recommended !!
One of the best hostel I’ve been so far. The owner is the cutie at one, he will help you with everything, all info you need! Cats around the hostel and lovely people
Echt geweldig! Ga zeker vanaf hier een tour doen met Steven. Zijn bordje hangt in de eetplek.
Stayed in 4 bed dorm which has binks without curtains but does have locker and air on which is typically off during day. Bathrooms are far away. You can add on a breakfast of toast. Eggs fruit and fresh coffee. There is a lot of info on what to do and how to arrive. It's a long walk to where local busses originated but a couple routes pass by to visit the center. Drinking water, warm shower inside plus has local restaurants close by. Best to visit with a friend to share transport to parks.
Very helpful staff, great location only 15 minutes to waterfront/river. Lots of little restaurants around to eat at as well.
Very good location, nice staff, but don't come here if you don't like cats. Rooms are basic, big beds and all you need. Some rooms don't have windows.
This hostel is so beautiful! In a lovely location, near lots of amazing food and a cute street. So many cats! I was able to get lors of rest and refill my cup before continuing on my travels. The hostel owners were helpful making sure I knew all the activities available to me. The vibe in the evening was quiet which I enjoyed, but there were lots of common areas to hangout and socialize! Free breakfast was eggs, toast/pats, fruit and amazing coffee.
Absolutely the best place to stay in Kuching. The owners are the best hostel owners I’ve ever met and I’ve been travelling for 9 months. So helpful and friendly, would come back here anytime I’m in Kuching
Amazing and super sociable!!
It is an amazing hostel. I stayed there for a long time. The owners are incredible, the explain you things about Kuching and the culture and make you feel at home, there’s lot of things to see around and excursions, the rooms are cleaned everyday and the facilities are very good. It’s the best place if you want to feel at home, meet new people and be surrounded by cats.
I booked two nights and ended up staying almost two weeks! Great social hostel in the center of Kuching, with a chill but social atmosphere. Especially Stephen, the unofficial tour guide is a live saver when it comes to showing the real Malaysian beauty only the locals know about.
Lovely atmosphere, very social and hosts were very helpful with laundry and places to visit. Breakfast was delicious and met so many great people!
Enjoyed my stay! Owners are sooo friendly! If I ever go back I will stay here again for sure! Also met so many other travelers. Really recommend this hostel.
