Terrible experience. We arrived at the place and it smelled awful. The room they gave us was full of mold, the shared bathrooms were dirty and there was no toilet paper. I asked for a refund for the next two days (I was going to stay for three days) and they charged me for the entire stay. The place is awful!!! DON'T GO THERE!!
Arrived and were in the room for 5 minutes before leaving again. Rooms were super dirty and no one staying there. Would not recommend
L’auberge de jeunesse n’est pas entretenue, les draps sont humides et ça ne sent pas bon. Il y a des tonnes de fourmis et de cafards dans les chambres et les toilettes. Je ne recommande absolument pas cet établissement. Par contre le personnel et l’homme qui fait les cours de cuisine est très sympa ! Heureusement, sur place j’ai rencontré des personnes chouettes et je n’y suis restée qu’une seule nuit !
The hostel is not maintained, the sheets are wet and it smells bad. there are tons of ants and cockroaches in the rooms and the toilets. i absolutely do not recommend this establishment. however the staff and the man who is taking the cooking classes is very nice! luckily, on site i met some nice people and i only stayed one night!
Dirty - bathrooms covered in ants and showers/toilets not separate so always queues for one or the other. Sheets had been changed but visibly stained and pillows manky. The walls in the dorm rooms were covered in holes. Bunks very creaky and loud and the rooms were not big enough for how many bunks fitted in - no room for bags inside the dorms and small lockers only in the hall. Cooking class was good with tasty dinner and the man doing that was nice. When leaving, tried to overcharge us & rude.
For your own safety and peace of mind, DO NOT STAY HERE. Thousands of bugs cover the disgusting bathrooms and there were many holes and stains in the hard, uncomfortable bed. If you choose to stay here you better sleep with a mosquito net or many clothes on, otherwise you will wake up covered in bites. Also beware of staff members just walking into your room at any time of day. Walking distance to the nearest places to eat are also very far by walking. Hard to find the hostel at night.
so I stayed in this hostel a few months ago. there was a little party of the owner. one friend of the owner was very touchy towards me, I was uncomfortable. the next day I told the person sitting at the counter. when I came back she said to me I watched the security cameras and I saw there was nothing going on. A moment later the owner came to me to 'apology', but he also said no we didnt saw you uncomfortable. he wanted to show me the tape, i said no. in the commun room he showed it to everyone

This hostel needs to be renovated as you are just breathing in mold. The dorm was so smelly and everything was old/unhygienic. Yes the food and staff is amazing(!) and you meet other travellers, but there are other hostels out there that are better for your health and safety.
Das Hostel ist nicht sauber und in dem 4er Zimmer hat es super stark nach Schimmel gerochen. Es gab kein Fenstern was man zum lüften aufmachen konnte. Das Zimmer war super klein vielleicht gerade mal 6 Quadratmeter. Das Bad war eine Katastrophe, komplett verschimmelt und es hat super gestunken. Das einzig positive ist das alle zusammen oben auf der Dachterasse essen und somit sehr gut zum socialising ansonsten aber leider eine Katastrophe.
The hostel is not clean and in the 4th room it smelled of mold. There was no window that could be opened to breathe. The room was super small maybe just 6 square meters. The bathroom was a disaster, completely mushroomed and it smelled super. The only positive thing is that everyone ate together up on the roof terrace and so very good for socializing otherwise but unfortunately a disaster.
I am a bit sceptic about this hostel. The location is nice, close to the lake. The swimming pool is nice. But the rooms are not clean. I had a private room voor 18 dollars per night and it wasn't worth it. The worst matrass I slept on in Sri lanka (although I am not demanding). They really need to throw it away. The staff is nice but also very money driven.

amazing hostel with really friendly staff, great pool, amazing value with the free breakfast (basic eggs and toast) and dinner (great curries and rice). Very sociable communal space that is encouraged by the group dinners. One of the best value for money hostels I've stayed!

Das Hostel ist in einer guten Lage, aber die Zimmer sind wirklich sehr alt, dreckig riechen leider auch dementsprechend modrig genau wie das Bad. Außerdem gibt es keine Zimmer Schlüssel somit ist alles den ganzen Tag offen, in der Nacht wird dann nur der Haupteingang verschlossen. Die Klima Anlage ist auch wirklich so laut das man sie lieber nur untertags aufdrehen sollte. Abendessen und Frühstück sind inkludiert und beides war sehr gut.
The hostel is in a good location, but the rooms are really very tall, smell dirty unfortunately also dementially muddy just like the bathroom. besides there are no room keys so everything is open all day, at night only the main entrance is then closed. the air conditioning is also really so loud that you should rather just hang it under the roof. dinners and breakfast are included and both were very good.
Amazing owner with a cooking class and a Swimming Pool
Il est un peu éloigné du centre ville donc c’est moins bruyant c’était peu achalandé quand nous y étions. La piscine semblait propre mais on ne l’a pas utilisé. L’eau chaude et l’air climatisé fonctionnaient bien. Le highlight du séjour fut le staff très attentionné et déjeuner inclus. Souper inclus sous forme de cours de cuisine de groupe.
It is a bit far from the city centre so it is less noisy and it was not busy when we were there. the pool looked clean but we didn't use it. the hot water and air conditioning worked well. the highlight of the stay was the very attentive staff and lunch included. dinner included as a group cooking class.

Nice people, but I was only one staying at the hostel. Seemed forever quiet. The power went out several times thru the evening and the morning. The power only went out for their property. Need to fix the electric wiring! Also slow WiFi.

Das Person ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die cooking classes sind auch sehr interessant, aber die Zimmer und Bäder richten sehr modrig und sind stark veraltet

Lovely owner and wonderful cooking class. Did have an incident with a cleaner walking into my private room while i was undressed lol. The pool was pretty dirty and every night we were there the power went out at some point. The wifi on the lowest floor didn’t work either. Overall the stay was good

Immerso nella natura a poca distanza dal lago e dalle principali attrazioni di Kandy. Ostello piccolo ma dotato di ogni comfort, camera privata con bagno spaziosi, bella terrazza aul tetto per i pasti, colazione gradevole. Personale estremamente disponibile e gentile.
Nestled in nature at a short distance from the lake and the main attractions of Kandy. small hostel but equipped with all the comforts, private room with spacious bathroom, beautiful rooftop terrace for meals, nice breakfast. extremely helpful and kind staff.
Great hostel and friendly people. The cooking class and dinner every evening was great and free!
