Horrible scam. I arrived at check in on time and the place was completely abandoned. I waited outside for AN HOUR before deciding to look for another place. An employee named then tried gaslighting me via email saying they were here all the time and that i'm imagining things. Avoid this place like the plague.

So, this poor review is part for the hostel, part for the website itself. I checked in fine. Second day I went out for Essen Spiel (a big fair) during the day. I come back to the hostel late (9-10 pm) to see my bed is taken. No one at the reception. I phone the 'emergency' phone number left at the reception for help, the guy tells me there is nothing he can do for me, unfortunately. After asking what should I do, he hangs up; second time I call he says, 'no English', third time blocks my number...

Eigentlich gut ausgestattet und zentral gelegen, aber habe mich dort nicht wirklich willkommen oder sicher gefühlt.

The location was great, right in front of the train station. I stayed for one night for an early bus ride. Nothing particularly attractive about the hostel. You are asked to rip off the sheets and duvet when you check out, and you pay more than average hostel prices.. I won't come back.

It’s centrally located and the amenities are not bad which makes it a good value for money. However, the staff is not friendly at all and the atmosphere is a bit heavy.

it was comfortable but honestly the most frustrating shower i have ever had to operate, shower before you arrive/at a gym if you can. information signs do not match current facilities and there are no locks (or places to put your own lock) on the "lockers". the floor in the room had sticky patches which i ended up cleaning with a spare towel. reception is only open for a few hours in the morning and afternoon so be careful with when your transport arrives. nice and close to the main station

Hi, all the staff were friendly at this hostel. There was not an atmosphere but was only staying the night between other stops so I didn’t mind. The biggest negative for me was the bed sheets which were unbearably scratchy and the light turning off in the showers every 5 seconds!

Not one of the lockers in my room worked. Luckily I tested them before using them but they wouldnt open after locking them. I followed the instructions precisely and couldn't get a single one open again. My roommate too. Reception was also rarely open, even less so than stated on the website and the doorbell. Luckily the staff was flexible and accommodating (I had to arrive later and wasn't free to pay when the reception was staffed) but it was still an annoying inconvenience.

Great kitchen and nice relaxing hostel for the price. saying that one of the rooms got double booked and someone arrived back late to find there bed was taken by someone else, also you cannot check in at all before 4 so don't arrive early. Also the storage lockers didn't work

Very clean good hostel. Friendly staff. The street and surroundings are a bit noisy, so consider to use earplugs, but the hostel facilities are excellent, especially the very spacious and clean bathroom and toilets.

Es ist ein neues und modernes Hostel aber keine Hostel Atmosphäre. Guter Aufenthalt trotzdem. Die Lage, nur 5 Minuten vom Hauptbahnhof .

very clean and respectful hostel. rooms were spacious comparatively and beds were pretty comfy. I would have had a great time if not for a noisy roommate! Made me want to come back to Essen if I get the chance.

Conveniently located, new and spotlessly clean hostel with comfortable beds. Some things were broken, like the door handle of the first room i was allocated, the lockers in the room, even the toilets (lights turned off so you can't do anything for longer than 10 seconds). The staff was kind to allocate me to a second room after I reported disturbing behaviour of a roommate.

Wir haben zwei Nächte im Hostel übernachtet und hatten einen sehr angenehmen und unkomplizierten Aufenthalt dort.

Very good place to stay. Tbe rooms were clean and fresh. The staff was very friendly and tried to think with us in regards to luggage storage.

This hostel is a true hidden gem in Essen! The staff were friendly, the location was spot on, and the vibe was just what we needed. As 4 Liter Bier, Rüdiger and the crew made unforgettable memories here – from late-night sticker action to endless laughter. We’ll definitely be back to finish the trilogy and leave even more stickers behind. Highly recommended!

Good value hostel, close to transport and Christmas markets. Note check in from 4pm, though not a problem as Essen hbf has fantastic storage lockers - the large one fits 2x 70L bags + 40L bag for 5€. Make your own bed with sheets given at check in, towels extra charge. Basic kitchen. Small lounge area. Our double room with en-suite smelled like someone had been smoking in there, so we kept the window open. It was on the 4th floor. No lift. One of the guys helped us with our bags - so lovely!

There aren’t locks on the lockers, something they said they’re working on. I should’ve listened to the reviews about taking a shower before arriving as they were extremely frustrating. The water pressure is just a dribble and stops after about 17 seconds. Additionally, the lights go off after 28 seconds, so again and again you’ll find yourself cold, naked, and in pitch darkness until you wave your arm out to trigger the light and press the button for the water. Nice little hostel, a few minutes walk away from the main train station. Clean bed & bathroom. However, security could be better especially in the rooms as there were no locks. Overall, not a bad place to stay for 2 nights.

Kann die Unterkunft wirklich nur empfehlen. Alles sauber und modern. Haben sogar kostenlos ein Upgrade von einem vierer Schlafsaal auf ein Doppelzimmer bekommen. Vielen Dank dafür!
