12 Monks Hostel Rishikesh

OMG, the rooms and washrooms were unbearably stinky. Easily one of the worst experiences I ever had .. even jails probably have cleaner washrooms. There were rotten fruits left in the locker, and the smell was absolutely horrible. When I complained, the staff came and casually said it was the previous guest’s fault. But honestly, isn’t it your responsibility to properly check and clean everything before the next check-in? The place has amazing vibes overall, but the dorms are beyond patheti...

Super nice staff , lots of events , live music, open mic etc , option for trip to the mountains . Great cafe and hang out area. Loud at night with the dogs barking for long times. Bathroom could use some attention .

The hostel has very nice staff and live events, such as live music and ecstatic dance. They also offer (paid) breakfast and food. Everyone was really friendly! x- I couldn't find a comfortable place to work with my computer; there were no proper tables and the wifi wasn't very good. x- The hot shower in my room didn't work, which was quite inconvenient. x- The beds could use a tiny shelf in the wall since there is nowhere to leave the phone and other small stuff while sleeping.

This was a really nice looking hostel. The rooms were pretty clean and the vibe was nice. Staff was not very friendly but did help out with any problems, and with booking a taxi for me.

Nice hostel with a nice vibe. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Only complaint is that there was a light for the room above my bed (on the top bunk) which was annoying. Staff are lovely and super helpful. Would definitely stay again. They have music events on both evenings at the weekend.

Good hostel for the price, the location is the best to me! Uphill, nature calm and view 🧘‍♀️

Washroom does not have sleepers. Lockers weren't provided. Geaser was not working . Towel was not provided.

Really affordable, nice, clean private room - such a great deal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There was even daily live music when I was there - they were outstanding!

Leuk om hier weer terug te zijn na 2 jaar. Had een mooie grote kamer met 2 terrassen waardoor meer privacy, was hier heel blij om, prachtig vrij uitzicht vanaf het balkon .Vooral in het weekend genoten van de geweldige optredens / muziek ook al lag ik ziek op bed. The staff were friendly, the rooms (we stayed in both dorm and private) were clean and nice. 12 Monks has a relaxed and friendly vibe, I'd definitely stay there again.

My Private room was very comfy, clean, the staff was always helpful, nice vibes at the hostel. I even went there for events & food when I wasn’t staying there

Had an amazing stay, hosts were lovely & Thurs-Sun they had different music events with a good variety. 10/10 would recommend :)

Had an excellent experience as a solo traveler. The place was generally clean and well-managed despite being fully booked over the weekend. They have an expansive open space on ground floor for the community to come together. Most importantly, they curate banger events on the weekends - Open mic Fridays, Cacao-fuelled dance sets on Saturdays (shoutout to DJ Wisemunk) and live instrument concerts on Sundays. Beautiful sounds, lovely people. Will definitely visit again!

Beautiful hostel with a really lovely friendly atmosphere! Staff were all super lovely and helpful with anything I needed and the food was great. The room was nice and clean and the bed and covers were super comfortable! Thank you 12 monks!

Had an absolutely amazing stay at 12 monks! Favorite hostel in India so far for sure! Warm people, good community & clean facilities. I couldn’t be happier about my stay!

All the washrooms had hand wash, shampoo and body wash dispenser. Kitchen had all necessary items to have a full meal. Rooms and washrooms were cleaned regularly once in a day. Outside seating area was dusted with Jhaadu. I mean that's the place where people eat. They could have used a wet cloth to wipe it. Harish, the guy at reception had few friends over and they were all allowed to smoke doobies on first floor. I mean rules should be same for everyone.
