YHA Hobart Central

- Hello,  I booked in a 4 bed female room. One night a drunk man entered in our room. We were three girls sleeping there. We tried to convince him to go out but he didin't cause as he said he had paid for this room! Finally a guy from other room helped us and convinced him to go out. Some minutes after he knocked the door. Of course we didin't open. It's was really scary. After we called an emergency reception call but we have no idea if he did something. We put suitcases and chairs behind the door to sleep.  The next day I went in the reception to ensure that the guy doesn't have the card that opens our room and the guy there has no idea and of course he couldn't guarantee that the mas has gone.  I tried to contact with the property after my check out but they answered after lots of days cause I've already written in booking and they apologised but they denied the refund I asked about this situation. I won't reccomend especially for girls. It's not safe place!!

+ Upon arrival I was informed that the property would not accept my step-son as a guest for the night. The manager said even though on previous stays he had done nothing wrong; he would not allow him to stay. When asking him refund the accommodation cost he said that was between me and Booking.com He was very rude and his manner was belligerent. It was only after my insistence that he showed me on his screen an advice to booking.com although I don’t really trust that this was actually sent. I would not recommend this person as trustworthy or compassionate on any level.

- The mattresses are too thin you touch the bars of the bed, The noise of the cars all the time, the cold comes in easily, The bathroom is a room

- Veryyyy small kitchen unable to cook. Booked a 4 bed + badroom room. Located above a bar and next to a busy road. And also the lounge area of the hostel on the other side. The points above in combination with Very bad isolated building created unsleepable nights. Canceled booking after 2 nights of no sleep.

- Rooms/toilets/kitchen were not in good shape and most importantly were not clean. Left the property a couple of days before check out for this reason and was promised a partial refund by the manager - which never occured. Booking could never get in touch with the property to sort things out.

- Asked for a late check-in. Received a confirmation email with a phone number to call. When I arrived I called the number, to no answer. Needed to find a different place to stay for the night and have been left our of pocket as they refuse to reimburse me. Manager was quite rude and directed me to a small sign on the front door with their late check in number and refused to be at fault for anything.

- Long term people (3 months) staying in the 12 bunk room, 111. The long term guy ruled the place and made it difficult for everyone else. No one used kitchen at 6pm because he closed kitchen door and wouldn’t let them in. Long term people should be designated a 4 bed room, only for long term people.

- Loud noise from everywhere anytime. Poor soundproofing.

- Pre arrival messaging was confusing. I was asked to confirm check-in a few times, despite having done it. A phone call clarified it. Then, a phone call asking for the details again and promising texted instructions for after hours check in... text didn't arrive. Lucky that another patron held the door open so my girls were safe off the street. Then the night staff sent them up 3 flights of stairs, lugging baggage to discover it was the wrong room. Despite having the booking confirmation and etc, were told they hadn't paid enough for the room they were expecting. My daughter phoned me in a panic, and, after a lot of stuffing around, I insisted that, being 1130pm, a private room be provided as the problem wasn't ours. Turns out the booking details were right... so one night in the wrong room, one night in the right room and an early departure due to anxiety. If you want to be certain that you will be accommodated, perhaps consider other options...

+ Prime location—very close to the pier and supermarkets with many dining options nearby. Common facilities, including the kitchen and bathrooms, are clean and well-maintained.

- There's no elevator, making heavy luggage difficult to carry. Soundproofing is very poor; street noise kept me awake. Staff responsiveness needs improvement—my messages after check-in were ignored.

+ 위치가 좋아서 어디든 가기 편하고 청소 상태도 만족스러웠으며 스태프들도 친절하고 협조적이어서 숙박기간 동안 편안하게 머물렀음

- 문 여닫히는 소리가 너무 크고 어떤 침대는 위아래가 연결되어 빠걱거리는 소리와 움직임으로 인해 침대 안락함이 떨어짐

+ Staff were great, generally the hostel was up to standard. It was clean and in a great location

- The rooms could have a couple of extra features to make it better. For example, there were limited plugs in the room for 6 people. There were no bed lights, and there were no privacy curtains.

+ The staff were lovely, the room was spacious and the bathrooms were great. Location was also good and the beds had a locker underneath.

- The road outside was very loud, there was no plug near the bed or bedside light, and the kitchen was very small. There was also a very smelly person in the room, but there isn't much staff could do about that.

+ Location was very good. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. I liked how the rooms were locked. Price was affordable.

- No towels or toiletries provided, but it makes up for the good price. I checked in late & they had given me the wrong room number. But I eventually found the room they had coded my key to, so all good in the end.
