You won’t get sleep here & not a sociable hostel

Bathroom smelt terrible and was full of mould. Walls so thin was woken up by mosque at 5am. Good location tho, not many people around pool in the day

There is no hostel vibe there, Totally boring hostel

wouldn't recommend it. maybe for teenagers who don't mind dirty showers and beds and rude staff

The staff was friendly and the location perfect, close to good cheap restaurants, the beach and some clubs. But we booked the hostel with the expectation of the hostel being a social place and of meeting new people, it was kinda dead to be honest. And the fact that the open area with pool and restaurant was a construction site our whole stay… from morning to sunset. The noise woke us up, was going on right behind us during breakfast and while we wanted to relax by the pool.

Normally love this place so recommend it 2 all. My friend stayed in a private there for a week before me & another more than a week after that. Yet, I got told at checkin I was bumped with no notice due 2 a tour group that brings in more $$, despite booking 2 months ago. Was told I would be moving twice during my stay. I hate moving on holiday, it's why I book. And got no notice to find somewhere else instead. Got put in bungalow next door full of cobwebs and spiders. Beware tour group overrules

Very bad experience. The only good thing to say was that the staff was friendly, but honestly you can get that anywhere. I booked a 3 person dorm and ended up in a 6 person one. The towels, that were not free, stank of moist and sweat. The bed curtains were all stained, sheets ripped, the showerhead broken and I woke up full of bed bug bites, a girl I met there in another room had them as wel. Not recommended.

Posizione comoda, a 5 minuti a piedi dal porto e dalla via principale. Personale non sempre cortese e disponibile. Presenza di una moschea attaccata alla struttura che fa il richiamo alla preghiera con un megafono alle 5 del mattino. Assenza di phon per capelli e impossibilità di usare il proprio in quanto salta la corrente. Acqua della doccia quasi mai calda. Colazione buona.

Zimmer ok, Anlage schön, was mir besonders gut gefallen hat war die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Gili Castle, also zur Party konnte man rüber geben, aber hatte Ruhe, die Volunteers insbesondere Zoe machen im Castle gut Stimmung und beziehen jeden mit ein!

expectation vs. reality, the pictures here did not justify the dorm I stayed with. firstly I booked a 3 mixed dorm, but got into 6 mixed dorm, apparently it was the island rule that they cannot disclose how many bed they have (but nope big lie saw a hostel saying they got 4 beddorm (and LOL it was also a 6 dorm). the dorm was nasty too, a lot of mosquito because the window in the bathroom was broken the door knob in the shower area was broken too. toilet was smelly. but staffs were great.

We had the best stay at Broken compass. The staff were very nice and helpful and we even got upgraded to an ensuite during our stay. The room and overall facilities were great. The location was good but it’s worth to mention that it’s close to a mosque that was pretty loud during the morning. We really liked the collaboration with the nearby party hostel Castle Two. We could take part of all the deals and social vibe but could also choose time for ourselves. Would definitely recommend!

Nice and central. Pool was under construction so that was a little sad. Clean and nice rooms, and a big shared bathroom for girls/boys. Cheap diving

Hostel is currenly renovating the pool so a bit cheaper but also probably why it was so quiet while I was there- I did not mind personally for a short stay. Socials are happening in the sister hotel 2mins away. Comfy bed with lamp, storage, curtains, hangers on the side. No windows in the room & wifi was pretty bad. Decent bathrooms. Staff was nice & very helpful when I had an issue with the locker. Breakfast is quite basic. Very nice location!

Stayed in Gili castle 2 as under renovation. Great place. Awesome staff always on top form. Great party scene and so easy to meet people! You’ll feel very welcome 🙌 I shall be back

We stayed for 2 nights and had a great time! We booked the 3 person mixed dorm as two girls and when we arrived, they told us there was a guy in our room and they put us in a different one, which was really considerate and extremely nice as we then had one to ourselves! The staff were all really nice, especially Claudia and Ava ;) all of them made us feel really welcome and safe. It was an amazing part of our trip and we would definitely come back!

Unreal. Super clean, reps were very inviting and excellent vibes all round even in off season. This one is a no brainer.

Super nice and clean! I enjoyed the daily activities along with the included breakfast and dinner. Although I was here in low season the reps keep the party going! Thanks to Danielle for being so friendly and for always making me feel included!

Did my first ever scuba dive here and it was amazing!! Definitely recommend everyone was so welcoming

Location was very easy to get to, and it was easy to join activities like family dinners, happy hour etc which are run via their other hostels. They also had activities like snorkelling trips and Padi cert depending what you’re after. The free breakie was very basic but a nice touch. The room was clean & comfy but the aircon didn’t work properly so we were too warm in the night, and the lock to the shower in our mixed dorm didn't work, which was uncomfortable. Nice enough place. We (a couple) were booked into a dorm but the air con unit was leaking badly, staff were very helpful and immediately offered us alternative accomodation in the private room which we really appreciated!! NOTE that the hostel is very close to one of the mosques on the island so it is very loud and you will hear the call to prayer at all hours including 5am. Not a fault of the hostel but useful info when considering booking 😊

Calm place if you don't like party hostels. The staff is friendly, you have a pool. It's clean and well located

such a great stay at broken compass, it was my first time on the island and they really made me feel at home, such an amazing community all the staff were great, would really recommend and look forward to going back :) James, Leah, Ella and Isla were great reps so welcoming and fun.

Lovely hostel! There are great activities to do and parties and stuff, but mostly at Gili castle, what is perfect! You get good sleep and good party. I want to thank Lea, Alisa, James, Ryan, Ella, Jess and all the other amazing reps who made the stay even better. Breakfast was also really good.

A quiet hostel but probably due to it being the end of the season. Great that there are activities at the hostel across the road that you can join. Food and staff were excellent. Rooms clean and comfy. My only complaint was that the doors to the room, although a keypad handle, were often left open, I feel these weren’t clearly explained to guests so they did not know. I loved my stay at Broken Compass. I wanted a calm environnement and it’s what I got. Clean hostel, nice pool, good breakfast. They also have a diving school which was great, loved to dive with them! If you want to party, they are affiliated with Gili Castle so Best of both world, party there, good night sleep back in the silence of Broken compass. I really recommend.

i stayed in the broken compass hostel which is the chill atmosphere hostel. this was perfect as it was social during the day and had a good pool to swim and sunbathe in. during the evening i went to gili castle building one for the dinners and social events which was great. the reps James, Leah, ryan and Tom and Lucid was amazing. i booked two nights but extended for 9 night in total as i enjoyed it here so much. thank you to everyone for such a great stay
