Little Drifter North Melbourne

The hostel was unfortunately a very unpleasant experience. Although the rooms were cleaned, the floor was still always dusty and dirty. The kitchen was a nightmare at any time of day — the floor was constantly wet and filthy, and there were hardly any decent kitchen utensils, like pans, etc. The bathrooms weren’t clean either, especially the toilets, which also smelled like sewage. However, the staff and other guests were all very kind.

Most dirty and disrespectful hostel i ever stayed at in my life and I seen them all! Apon walking into my room I sounded out a 'oh my god!' The room stunk and made me feel dirty straight away. It was hot as the broken air-conditioning was replaced with a pedestal dusty fan. After taking off my shoes the sand on the floor stuck to my feet as if the floor has never been cleaned... the room stank and needed to be aired out. Point positif : la salle pour manger et bosser et super ! le rooftop aussi est super ! Point négatif : le staff est gentil une fois sur deux on nous avez assuré d’avoir quelqu’un pour récupérer nos affaires dans la cuisine car elle ferme à 22h voir un peux avant ! Il n’y avait personne la dalle qui nettoyer n’a rien fait pour nous aider ! Les chambres ont étouffé mais à ne plus en respirer horrible pas possible de rester dedans. N’y allez pas !

I couldn’t be more disappointed in the experience I had at this hostel. The facilities are poorly sufficient with the capacity the building holds. There is no where near enough space in the fridges and half the stoves do not work. The security is very poor with constant stealing of food; my food was also stolen to which the staff watched the cameras and said they will speak to the culprit but could do nothing for me but say sorry. Rooms are tiny and not as advertised on the website with no baggage storage at all. Location was good which was a redeeming factor with a good rooftop. More of a youth club vibe rather than a hostel!

stayed at the CBD location, wanted to see how this one compared. I do like how they have more options with communal toilets however the toilets on level 3 were unbearable, smell was like sewage. ended up using toilets on another level the whole time. only one lift that takes a very long time, ended up using the stairs and then lifts were out of order for second half of stay so everyone had to use stairs. Overall rooms were good, kitchen okay. Needs more hang out area options. Prefer CBD location

There was genuinely a problem with this hostel every single day of my stay. Upon my check in the staff were extremely unhelpful and this continued throughout my stay, anytime I asked the staff for help they seemed annoyed. There was strange smell throughout the hostel and the kitchen was one of the worst kitchens I have used within my time in Australia. There were too many people staying in this hostel for the amount of facilities. Good location and nice rooftop.

My room really smelt and even though I made a refundable booking the receptionist was unable stp refund it with over 24hour notice

The dirtiest hostel I‘ve stayed in so far. If spaces are cleaned, only the surface gets attention. Corners, „hidden“ areas and such stay dirty. That was the case for the kitchen, bathrooms and dorm. I was able to change rooms after speaking with the staff, which I appreciated a lot. That room was better, but still not perfect. It‘s the attention to details that was overall lacking. Really chill and friendly hostel with the best rooftop view!! They host meet and greets with free food during the week which are good for mingling too.

I really enjoyed my stay there! The common areas are so nice, you can meet a lot of people. The location is excellent, you are close to the Victoria market. There is a large kitchen and the dorm rooms are spacious and plenty of space for luggage.

Everything was automated - automatic check in, door keys etc which made some things more difficult. We had to “order” a towel online and then they were out of towels. Overall a beautiful hostel, not too social. The rooftop was amazing!

Nice hostel with big and clean kitchen. Beds were good with privacy. Many toilets and showers and all were very clean. Big common erea were you could talk to people if you had like to. Really recommend this place, very good for the price you pay.

The hostel is simply fantastic. Very well equipped (elevator, kitchen), clean and spacious. A little out of the way. The only downside: the lack of lockers to store our food in the kitchen.

I think this hostel could be amazing. However, the kitchen was disgusting. There were fruit flies everywhere, which then also lead into the common area downstairs. One set of fridges was out of order (which would’ve been fine) but staff were very hesitant to let you put your food in the staff fridge. The room was only cleaned once a week, for a female dorm I think this should be done more often because of the amount of hair on the floor. Bathroom also full of flies and not cleaned well

amazing hostel with tons of shared areas to hang in, very sociable and friendly staff. clean rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and common rooms. super close to queen victoria market as well.

I had a good stay here, worth keeping in mind there is no aircon in any rooms if staying here when it’s hot. The room was a good size and lockers were good, the kitchen was tiny with barely any counter top space and always seemed very dirty.

Very small dorms! But cool area to socialize

The hostel and facilities are great and the place itself is lovely and clean although no ice and tap water is warm. Unfortunately, the staff dominate the social areas, are extremely loud and inconsiderate. They rarely interact and are overall pretty unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want to sleep, this is also due to the staff in the hallways late at night or very early in the morning.

Eigentlich alles okay, allerdings ist die Küche viel zu klein und auch zu dreckig. Außerdem könnten die Badezimmer häufiger geputzt werden.

Great hostel!! Kitchen is a little bit too small, little overwhelming. Not everyone cleans their stuff but there is twice a day a deep clean so it’s okay. Nice rooms, very nice bathrooms. Overall an amazing hostel! Make sure to check out the rooftop!!

Special shoutout to David for hosting the basketball event today. Recently just moved over to Melbourne and David has been nothing but nice to everyone to make sure we feel included.

Nice, modern hostel in a good location - central without the chaos! Great facilities, large common areas downstairs and on the roof. Understandable there was a heatwave during my stay - however no AC or fans in a dorm meant sleeping was pretty tough, especially as windows also don’t open fully! Also think for the price per night luggage storage should be an included benefit.
