The only bad hostel I had in Sri Lanka. The owner is really pushy and you have no privacy. I say I’m hungry and a talk to me for one other and it was not possible to leave. Take care: don’t eat the breakfast!!! It’s not good and a charge 2500 (!!!!) for one. That’s totally overpriced. I feel very unsafe here and it’s outside the city. The rules are really strict and I don’t feel welcome „as a friend“ I don’t know why the recommendations are so good.
The hostel owner was incredibly creepy&dismissive of boundaries. Forced me to listen to a 30-minute speech about being everyone’s friend, upset when I said I was hungry, and ignored my repeated attempts to disengage. I felt unsafe after being followed by a man he said Sri Lankan aren’t like this. Insisted we go to a remote beach, exposed himself out of his swim trunks&insisted I remain despite my discomfort. His behavior was invasive, entitled, and made me feel unsafe as a solo female travele...
The dorm is very clean which is a +, however I did not enjoy my stay there. As others already mentioned, the owner is a bit too over the top and doesn’t respect boundaries. F.ex. endless speeches when I was working/in a hurry, coming into the dorm in the morning and talking to me while I was still lying in bed + he made me a scene in the end because one of the bills I gave him looked quite old, claiming he can’t use it. I paid in other places with bills that looked wayyy worse and nobody car...
I turned up to the property on my own as a solo traveller. No one else was staying there even though I had booked the dorm for 5 people. The host seemed friendly and helpful at first, but later asked for pictures of and with me, asked my age, if I was single or married and if I wanted a massage from him. As a female on my own I felt trapped and uncomfortable in these conversations. I also heard the shutter on the window of the room open at night and close again after a few seconds.
Had a great stay! Very beautiful big garden and old building which the host Pinidu gave us a nice tour of. Would recommend the breakfast because it was very good and fresh.
Its close to the city But is not good for travellers because strict roles, smell not good in the room, everything-white in the room you feel like pray place and the breakfast expensive.
Stayed one night at old parkland and accommodation was clean and very suitable for a nights stay. Although only one other person staying there. I think the owner crossed a couple of boundaries and made me feel a bit uncomfortable at times, insisting that I shower outside in the garden after checking out and telling me some odd and inappropriate stories. I didn’t feel unsafe staying there but on reflection it was very odd and didn’t feel very comfortable staying there.
I found the host a bit odd. He pushed a garden tour on me. I thought it was 15 minutes but it ended up being 2 hours. I was so hungry and did not know how to escape. He always wanted to talk and I felt I never got privacy unless I ran to the room. The breakfast was super overpriced at 2500 SR per meal which I now know is 2-3x what breakfast in SR is usually. I feel bad because he wrote me a card to thank me but I have to be honest about my experience here. The rooms are clean though.
Best host we have had! Extremely friendly and welcoming, gave us recommendations on activities and made a great homemade breakfast which changed each morning. The garden is amazing and we got a lovely tour around. Would love to come back and stay again.
Pinidu’s property is in a beautiful jungle location with lots of fruit trees in the garden that he made delicious breakfast from in the morning. It is more of a homestay than a hostel with only a few beds but this worked perfectly for us travelling with two people. Pinidu gave us very thorough advice about what to do around Galle. The room was very clean and tidy and was cleaned every day. It is a little way away from the main sights of galle, not walkable easily but a short tuk tuk ride.

The stay at the old Parkland hostel was amazing experience. Pinidu is such a wonderful host. He make you comfortable as like its ur own house. The building itself is an experience to see. The garden of Pinidu is amazing and he himself gave me the tour of his garden and explained every plant and tree. His recommendations for food and travel was perfect addition to the journey. This hostel does not hold group activities. But overall it was an unforgettable pleasant experience. Highly recommended.
De host is het alles leukste aan het hostel! Hij laat graag zijn tuin zien en kookt lekker eten!
The hostel is a lovely historic building with quite a large garden you can explore. The owner Pinidu is fantastic and provides many recommendations of the best things to do
A lovely old house with a huge garden. The host, Pinidu, is very friendly and gives you lots of tips on things to do in Galle and the surrounding area. He also showed me his garden, which is full of different plants, and knows a great deal about them. His breakfast was delicious, with many of the ingredients sourced directly from his garden. I really enjoyed my stay at the Old Parkland Hostel.
Amazing stay at this hostel. The owner was a absolute Jem with the best tips for making the most of your stay. The breakfast was delicious and probably the most pretty house for a hostel and I loved the garden. A hostel you won't forget
one of the best hostels I stayed in sri lanka. This is like a paradise. I felt very safe here. When I arrived at the hostel host welcomed me like his friend and he was very friendly, very kind and helpful. Room bathroom everything was super clean. You definitely have to try his breakfast. Delicious breakfast with home grown fresh ingredients. Every morning different types of food. This place is very close to old dutch fort and beaches. Don’t miss the garden tour. 100% recommend

A very beautiful property and the best host that you will find. Don't miss the breakfast here.

Amazing place to stay! The hosts is one of the nicest people you can meet. The property has a huge garden where you can see all types of wildlife(monitor lizards are the stand out ones). There is also a river passing through the garden and that for me is the highlight. The room is cozy and comfortable.
this is a home away from home. You cannot have a better host than pinidu
This was such a great hostel!! Amazing beginning to our trip! The hostel is gorgeous especially the garden! Pinidu was so so kind and the best host. He gave us such great recommendations and cooked the most amazing breakfasts. He also gave us a really interesting tour of his garden with all the plants and what they can be used for. 10/10 amazing hostel!!
This was such a wonderful hostel! Huge garden and a beautiful old house. Also Pinidu was the best host imaginable and gave great recommendations and advice plus a tour around his garden with all the spices and plants he uses for cooking. The breakfast was great every morning and unique and different every time. 10/10 would really recommend going here!!

Had a fantastic stay here. Very nice hospitality and great food. 100% recommendation from me.
Awesome hostel with a great owner/operator. The building itself is 100+ years old and was built by the owner’s family. It is close to the city, but feels like the country with its numerous fruit trees and wildlife on site. The rooms and facilities are very clean and comfortable and there is hot water and air conditioning. I wish I had more time to stay longer.
Had a very good stay here!
Amazing hostel, was the first one I stayed at and thank god it was! Host was so friendly and helpful keen to tell you about everything you can do in local area. Can tell he really prides himself on the place and the amazing garden!! Clean and comfortable stay would recommend
