Happy Hammocks, Weligama Beach

Bed bugs + Fake social communication by the volunteer.

The property’s cleanliness and facilities weren’t worth the money I paid. Found cockroaches in washrooms and the washrooms weren’t clean enough.

party hostel, loud musik till midnight sometimes, people coming back at 3-4 am. Beds shaking/not fixed to the wall and too short. They couldn't manage to give me my locker for two days...

Very very dirty. They ask you to take off your shoes when you are in the hostel but the floor is black with dust. There were dead cockroaches in the shower for 2 days. I felt really bad in this hostel because of that.

Decent hostel good location. Pretty social.

Mixed feelings. Atmosphere is great but I was in the 8 people dorm and there were massive cockroaches in the bathroom. Told the staff but they did not do anything about it, only telling me they removed them from the bathroom, which was a lie because they were still there. In the end my friend and I killed them. The day after they did a “deep clean” in the hostel. However I think the only chance to solve this problem is to install proper isolation around the toilet and sink ..

Weird vibe here. A bit «too cool» vibe from the people, a lot of people stay here a long time. Overprized. Dirty. Bad fasilities. Good location.

Very basic amenities, beds are quite hard and lots of mosquitoes. Seemed relatively social but lots of construction going on with drilling sounds at 10pm and people coming in and out of the room to check things.

Nice but basic property, still very social despite low season

I had a lovely stay! Off season was still super social. They organised little trips and activities which everyone joined in on. The hostel was 1 minute from the beach so it’s super easy to surf anytime, and less than a minute from the big supermarket so the kitchen can easily be put to good use. The staff are also so lovely and laid back. Awesome hostel! 10/10

Honestly love this place I ended up staying for like two weeks. Location is perfect for surfing and it’s right next to a supermarket and restaurants. The staff and reps are brilliant (Menuri and Lia especially) and it’s a really social vibe without being too party party. Could do with an extra fridge and another big fan for the hot days but that’s my only feedback. Stay here!

Lovely little hostel, feels like family

great social atmosphere, not party party, but very social. kitchen is clean and usable, showers are fine. volunteers are always putting on events

This is a great hostel, perfectly located, 50m from the beach, next to a supermarket. The manager is super nice. I definitely recommend it.

Excellent location, friendly staff, and super clean. Each bed is equipped with its own fan & light, which is convenient. Also, a very social hostel with plenty of areas to hangout. Loved my stay!!!

Was only here for a night, but great location so close to the beach and perfect if you are wanting to learn to surf. The vibes were good and everyone was super friendly.

I had a really lovely stay here! If you’re wanting a social hostel and to meet other travellers this is definitely the place to stay. The hostel does a lot of organised activities for everyone to do together what was really lovely, I definitely would stay again.

It was one of the best hostels so far in Sri Lanka for me , really nice personal and always there if you need help , definitely would recommend it

I had a lovely time at happy hammocks, the atmosphere was very chill and welcoming. If you’re looking for a hostel that makes you feel at home, with lovely people right next to the beach, happy hammocks weligama is perfect !

Cute hostel. Much prefer the social spaces here than the one in Hiriketiya. If you’re considering a non-AC room, personally, it was not worth it. Otherwise, nice staff and decent facilities.

Best hostel in Sri Lanka. Great staff provide an amazing social atmosphere. Plan to come back next year!!

Happy hammocks was the best hostel in Sri Lanka for us so far. Its near to the Beach and really social, if You Like to there is at least one organized hostel activity a day. The rooms and hang areas are also clean and got everything you need. We met so many nice people here and loved our stay :)

I found it a bit hard to socialize as there was already a group formed and it wasn’t easy to get it. It was a younger crowd (18-24). The location is great - close to the beach. Having a kitchen is always super nice especially if you’re traveling longer. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money tho. I have stayed in much cleaner and more modern places for way less. For some reason I kept a having so much sand in my bed (it would literally fall on me even during the night)

By far the best hostel we stayed in Sri Lanka , the cleanest, the kindest staff, it was quiet at night and you could sleep,every bed had its own fan was very cool . They had clean towels to give you (but really clean ) . I wish I had stayed longer . Very comfortable stay.

I looooved my stay here. Everything was super clean and very social. They have events every night and the staff is amazing. Also close to the beach
