Good: it was clean and pleasant to stay in. Bad: the hostel was offering tours to visit places that were illegal to visit. Two girls were taken to Laguna Paron on a tour with the hostel but it was illegal for tourists to go there at the time because there was a serious avalanche risk. The staff got nasty when one of the girls told reception about it (assuming incorrectly the hostel didn’t know it was illegal) and made her cry. Made me dislike the hostel after that.
I never write reviews but this one deserves it. When I first got to Krusty Hostel, they did not have the dorm I booked. Their internet wasn’t working so I thought that was the reason of the error, so I thought I’d give them a chance and stayed based on the good reviews they got. Établissement bien placé et petit déjeuner sympa. En revanche, le personnel n’est pas du tout aimable et on est informé de rien. On a failli louper notre bus à cause de la mauvaise foi d’un homme à l’accueil (qui semblait être un ami des gérants) : il refusait que l’on paye par carte alors que nous n’avions pas d’espèces et que son TPE fonctionnait. We almost missed our bus because of the bad faith of a man at the reception (who seemed to be a friend of the managers): he refused to pay by card when we had no cash and his TPE was working. He wanted to add an extra 10% (instead of 5%) to the charge for this fact. I strongly dismiss. Plus the hygiene is to be reviewed...

don’t stay here if you want a good night sleep. it’s cheap & the rooms are a good size, staff are helpful but we got about 3 hours sleep a night here. it’s soo loud, from other guests, children downstairs and various other things. there is essentially a window between the rooms which means that even the smallest noise sound like it’s inside your room. for a location which is for hiking and requires very early starts, the hostel need to make a better effort to reduce eg quiet hours after ...
Showers and bathrooms are very gross
We booked here because of the travel agency and it was disappointing. The bathroom has a fair bit of black mold on the ceiling. the wall behind the bed had a layer of dust on it. there was also a hair ball on the shower wall in the private bathroom. breakfast was around average for a hostel in Peru. the staff was nice
Pros: Possibly the cheapest travel agency in Huaraz to book all your activities. Staff in general were friendly. The location is good and the room is cheap. Hot showers. Good WiFi. Cons: Really uncomfortable beds and room was cold. We asked for our beds to be made and towels changed by leaving the notice on the door but it was ignored. The kitchen was quiet but dirty, also there were no bowls! On our last morning a member of staff knocked on and asked us what time leaving way before check out.
It seemed that the bathroom (private room) had been mouldy and that they only had painted over it. Apart from that everything else was okay.

The hostel was great and the connection to the travel agency (literally next door) made it really easy to organise hikes at great prices. The dorms are comfortable, with outlets, lamps and curtains, and the hot water is HOT. Would definitely recommend this hostel as your base for hiking out of Huaraz
Great hostel in Huaraz, they run all the trips you would need for all the hikes in the area. Cleaned our room everyday too and free breakfast.
It’s a really cool and, above all, very friendly hostel! The family are really lovely and will help you with anything, no matter how small. You can even book a day trip for the next day in the evening – no problem at all! I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it!
Had a fantastic stay at Krusty. The rooms are spacious, cleaned daily and you have your own private bathroom. Also, the owner speaks English really well and is extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great people and by far the best price for private accomodation and breakfast.
Amazing hostel is you like hiking! Loads of excursions and a pretty good breakfast! Staff is lovely and willing to help!

Super good, but not very atmospheric
Great hostel! Breakfast is included, and the kitchen is super well equipped too. there’s always hot water in the shower, there’s a working tv, and they offer to clean the room every day. the staff is friendly and helpful, and they also have a touring agency with good prices! Overall great value 🫶🏼
Lovely owners/staff. Nice views over the mountains from the kitchen balcony. Transport available for hikes.

This place is good value for money. You can easily walk into the centre. They organised hike tours for us. It’s mostly people passing through to go on hikes and wake up early - so there isnt a massive social atmosphere, but this is why most people are in this area so it makes sense.
Basic but clean and good value for money. The single combined toilet/shower for 12 people dorms can be a logistical challenge particularly as there are no other communal options in the building (apart from 1 toilet on ground floor).
Unglaublich nettes Personal, alle Touren unter anderem dort buchbar. Zimmer und Ausstattung auf Top Niveau. Die gemeinsame Küche könnte etwas sauberer sein, aber „meckern“ auf hohem Niveau. Die Lage auch Weltklasse für alles!
Incredibly nice staff, all tours including buchbar. rooms and equipment at top level. the shared kitchen could be a little cleaner, but the kitchen at a high level. the location is also world class for everything!
Sehr solide Unterkunft. Besonders komfortabel ist es, dass man alle wichtigen Touren direkt übers Hostel buchen und im Zweifel auch Material leihen kann. Lediglich die Zimmer könnten etwas sauberer sein (Fleck auf Laken, Müll unterm Bett)

Die Inhaber sind super freundlich und helfen sowohl beim Buchen von Touren als auch bei weiteren Fragen. Der Dorm hat relativ wenig Platz für das gesamte Gepäck. Das Bad wird zudem von 12 Leuten geteilt, was schwierig werden kann, wenn alle morgens zu einer Tour starten. Es gibt kostenlos Handtücher. Die Betten haben Vorhänge und sind okay. Lediglich ein „Cover“ für die Decke wäre schön gewesen.
The hostel is super friendly and helpful both with booking tours and with any further questions. the dorm has relatively little space for all luggage. the bathroom is also shared by 12 people, which can get difficult if you start every morning for a tour. there are free towels. the beds have curtains and are okay. just a Cover for the ceiling would be nice.
Stayed here before the trek and was able to leave my big bags here while doing it. Very basic but has everything you need
The building is a little worn. However it is clean. Our bathroom was cleaned daily. Hot water in the shower! Owner and wife run the place, very nice. He also operates the trekking company same name. Looked like fair prices, less than we paid for similar trek with another company.
