Hostel Katunayake

Buchung im Dorm, mein Freund musste um 22Uhr Uhr diesen Tages noch los zum Flughafen. Da es mir sehr schlecht ging, saß er den Tag über bis zur geplanten Uhrzeit neben meinem Bett und hat auf mich aufgepasst. 4 Mal wurden wir gefragt, wann er denn (endlich) ginge. Um 22 Uhr klopfte es dann an der Tür und mein Freund sollte nun wohl die (nie erwähnte) LOBBYCHARGE 2000LKR zahlen. Ich habe die Nacht woanders verbracht. Keine Empathie sondern Kontrolle und nur unser Geld stand im Fokus.

The owner was kind but hostel wasn’t quite as expected - the tap was broken in one of the 2 shared bathrooms, & the hostel was tiny & there were only 2other ppl staying there. No blanket on the bed, just plain sheet and pillow, had to get random blankets out of a cupboard. It’s defo a stay for convenience being close to the airport not for enjoyment. The piano is also out of use even tho the images show people gathered round a piano suggesting it is social and functioning. So quite misleadin...

Okay hostel for an airport night. Could have been cleaner.

Only good for surviving one night near the airport. I stayed here for one night just because it’s close to the airport, but I wouldn’t recommend it beyond that. While it was quiet (I was literally the only guest, so at least I didn’t have to pay for a private room), the overall experience was not great. I saw a huge cockroach while making dinner, the bathroom was quite dirty, the shower was broken in multiple places and didn’t have a proper door. The sponge they use to clean dishes an...

Does the job for getting up early and going to the airport. I booked my own tuktuk with pickme, their option was very expensive.

Het is fijn dat het zo dicht bij het vliegveld is, maar ik zou het echt alleen aanraden om hier te overnachten na een late vlucht. De bedden liggen voor geen meter en zijn absoluut niet schoon. De mensen die er werken zijn wel heel aardig.

The wifi and the AC worked well. But there was mold in the room and bathroom. We stayed for 1.5 days and the staff was very intrusive. Maybee it was because there weren’t a lot of other guests but we felt like we were being watched the whole time and therefore uncomfortable. We booked the tuk tuk to the airport through the hostel and paid over twice as much. We wouldn‘t come back.

Nettes Hostel wenn man vom Flughafen kommt oder zum Flughafen will. WLAN im Zimmer hat nicht funktioniert nur auf den Sofas.

I had a clean room with AC and mosquito net. The bathroom needs a bit renovation. The location is 4 km from the airport. Price was above average for me as a solo-traveller(24 euro). The food at the Dream Lagoon restaurant was good (beautiful view of the lagoon at sunset).

Really great stay and very close to the airport. We arrived after check in and someone stayed up for us. Would really recommend.

Is a nice Hostel with a good location and near to the airport.

The staff were super helpful, from our late arrival to organising transport for us, our room was comfy with AC and bathrooms were tidy, would stay again!

Great stop before/after a flight! Only 15mins from the airport, rooms are clean and comfy, wifi good. Could do with a curtain in the shower as the floors/toilet gets soaked. They have the option to add breakfast andtheres free drinking water. Not any atmosphere but expected as its a stopover point. Food nearby too.

Nice staff and close to airport. Kinda hard going to eat/ get groceries by walking tho. Located close to highway.

Really nice hostel, perfect for your stay in Negombo coming from the airport (only 10min drive). Really friendly and helpful staff, good food, calm atmosphere. Private room perfect to rest out your jetlag.

Very nice hostel, great location near the airport. It's perfect if you need to fly out the next day or fly in late. The staff are so kind and friendly. They gave me a lot of helpful tips and instructions for how to get to Colombo. Clean, safe, peaceful.

Great hostel, I was supposed to be here for one night but stayed for a week, great hospitality and great vibe, friendly family and extremely clean. Would definitely recommend even more than just a before or after flight transfer stay.

Fantastic hostel/homestay! Perfect if you are coming from/heading to the airport. Only 5-10 min drive away. The owners are VERY lovely, and they organised us a private transfer to Ella for a very reasonable price. The beds and rooms are lovely too!
