The door locker to the rooms is super noisy and people keep coming out and back. There should be a clear message given to them to not walk back and forth as makes it impossible to sleep for other guests or alternatively I would suggest changing the laud door lock somehow.
das hostel war erstklassig. noch nie in einem so guten hostel gewesen. viele Toiletten und Duschen. Persona war freundlich und hilfsbereit
An absolutely lovely hostel. It's a bit cramped, especially when it's full, but that also makes it easy to meet people. The staff are very friendly, it's very clean, and the location is perfect. I would definitely stay here again.
Staff weird. Feels like they're tired of backpackers and other people in "their home". With that attitude they set the tone for the vibe in the hostel.. So sad cause besides that the location is great and the bed and pillows are amazing.
I see what people meant when they said the staff are weird. They act like you are intruding on their home… just generally unpleasant to be around. The rest of the hostel vibe was alright. Best pillows I’ve slept on in a hostel thus far , and the beds are quite spacious. The dorms have a key code lock that autolocks every time you open the door, and makes a little beep beep sound, its a huge pain in the middle of the night.
Amazing staff, always friendly, helpful and ready for a chat. Rooms nice and walking distance to everything.
The place is very nice and well located, and the staff is friendly. However, I was quite concerned to see a staff member storing personal hygiene items, including toothpaste, toothbrush, a dental retainer, together with kitchen utensils. I also observed them rinsing their mouth in the kitchen sink. I believe this raises hygiene concerns that should be addressed.
Super cozy hostel
Hostel conditions were good, and staff were very supportive and helping.
The place is clean. The staff treat you like you are overstaying a visit in their house. Never say hello or acknowledge that you are even there!? Exactly the opposite of every Japanese person I met. Guy in my room wasn’t even sure they were Japanese. Overpriced, zero an atmosphere. Left after one night
Good hostel style guesthouse near central Kyoto. Friendly staff, decent facilities. Only complaint was that the bedrooms smelt a little damp
Overall, this hostel is ok for somewhere to lay your head. I wouldn't chose it again if I could help it but that's just me personally. The kitchen area wasn't particularly clean but that could be more due to the people using it. I also found two massive bugs in my bed and that really worried me (again, could be more due to the time of year in November)
The staff is very helpful. The beds were fine. The security was great. The location is prime.
Cozy traditional style house. Very quiet with a nice common room to socialize a little. Great location for a cool Gion experience
Such a cozy hostel! Super comfy beds and it’s in an amazing location. Staff were lovely and welcoming
Super clean and friendly staff. Right by train line and not a far walk from anything you need. Tons of good food options within 15 minute walk. Beds are very roomy for a hostel. Noticeably the biggest mattress I've ever had in a hostel. No lockers for bags/luggage but there is a storage downstairs.
Directly in Gion in an old house. absolutely lovely and also nice social people there.
This place absolutely sucks! I came from top notch hostels with the same price in Kyoto, this one stinks, is super noisy, so dirty and has no power points in the room! I booked two nights and stayed for one instead. When I asked the guy if i can cancel he said he will speak to his manager. A few hours later i hear him say to someone that we are booked out when he could’ve swapped my room and given me a refund! Also the receptionist would smoke continuously and the smoke would travel to my bed!
