Coming from Europe and having prior hostel experience, I was disappointed with my stay. Being a Female (19), I did not see any other guests around my age; in general, the hostel's clientele was around 35 and above. The overall atmosphere of the place was gloomy and felt really heavy. spent 300 dollars for a private room for 1 night that was at round floor near the entrance. crazy noise, you could hear every car, every step, and lot of people hanging out in front of it. the shower was leaking and no soap... i am all for unperfection in hostels, but at this price is unaccetable

Experiencia Nefasta. Hostel carisimo, mal ubicado, las habitaciones son diminutas y el baño más, hacen fiestas con gente de afuera los cuales toman todo el hostel y rompen todo.

This hostel was alright. It had everything you needed and the staff was friendly. It was easy to get to the city center although the location itself isn’t super ideal, it’s just okay. The showers were very moldy and hardly ever had hot water. I felt gross showering. This part was no fault of anyone but a lot of the roommates snored loud and it was difficult to get a good nights sleep. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel.

Cold shower, beds shake, rubbish location

Half the staff are polite and half are extremely rude. The property is very dirty and poorly kept up in certain areas. The kitchen is very messy and has no oven. There are better and cheaper hostels in nyc

Located near the train station which is great but unfortunately that is the only positive thing I have to say. The hostel had a weird vibe, it was not very social at all/no backpacker camaraderie.. Laundry facilities were broken while I was there so I couldn’t use them. This hostel is wayyy to expensive for what you get, I understand it’s NYC but it’s crazy.

Unfriendly staff. Seems like a chore for them when being asked for recommendations or question in general. Overpriced for zero facilities - VERY basic, not even coffee.

I really enjoyed my stay at The Local NY! It was a great location with metro nearby and on a quiet street. I enjoyed everyone I interacted with at the front desk but the barista was not friendly at all. That aside I recommend the cafe/bar given the price.

If literally all you need is place to crash for a night, this place is fine. My biggest complaints are that the bathrooms weren't very clean and the kitchen was a disorganized mess that felt like it was in a college dorm. Calling it a kitchen also feels like a misnomer as their "stove" was a series of old hot plates that barely worked and their "oven" was an air fryer. Great location for exploring NYC - love the roof too terrace

Great value for money for the private room with double bed. Stayed singe but can think with 2 people the matrass would not be great as the matras quality is not great. General atmosphere was ok. One day there was a school trip there and the second say a private event held in the hostel. Hostel lacks the social aspect as European hostels will have but on the basis of a room and location and value for money its a good stay.

Bed was a little uncomfortable but a nice lounge and bar and the staff was always very friendly and helped me with my questions. Good Location, not too good so socialize.

The staff here is some of the best of any hostel I’ve ever stayed at! I had an issue with my booking and they went above and beyond to help me out with it and genuinely any question I had. The staff was probably the best part of this hostel, though there’s nothing I can really complain about. The rooftop, cafe/bar, and location are also very notable. Also, there’s a really good 24 hour diner nearby as well as many other options and the trains. :)

Very Clean, great staff & a remarkable rooftop with a gorgeous view of the city!

The hostel was really great, close to the subway so you can get quickly and directly to the city center, and I felt safe walking back alone at night. Getting around is very fast. The hostel isn’t very expensive compared to the rest of New York. Everything was very clean. I just had the impression that it’s not really a hostel where you can meet a lot of people, since many guests are there for work maybe it’s also because of the season. But otherwise, everything was perfect.

Very nice hostel, well located near public transport and places to eat. Nice atmosphere with large common room that encourages socializing and has a TV. There is a roof deck with great views of the city. Prices were quite reasonable for New York. Rooms are clean but basic; there is no place to sit down inside the room except on the beds. Bathroom was small but clean, with plenty of hot water in the shower.

I love this hostel, however, at check in the person made me pay for 4 nights even though my online booking was for 5 nights. Ofcourse, I didn’t notice and on the 4th morning I was kicked out by a “manager” while trying to sleep. One small mistake made by the check-in guy gave me a mini heart attack. I do expect a refund/apology/free credits because the person who screamed at me that morning was rude, unprofessional, and was blaming me for sleeping. I have never experienced anything like th...

The Lobby includes a coffee shop and is very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit tight which is standard for New York City. Almost everything nearby is pretty new. There is good nightlife in the area, but not great restaurants.
