We stayed here for two nights in a private room and were disappointed with our experience. The biggest issue was cleanliness. The room did not appear to have been properly cleaned before our arrival. There was visible dust on the surfaces, and we even found an old contact lens next to the bed, which felt unhygienic. The room description also stated that a locker was included, but there was no locker in the room. Customer service during both check-in and check-out felt very minimal.
I woke early hours to bites and discovered huge bed bugs in the bed. I thought the room smelt bad (no ventilation or window) and it felt dirty. The bedbug infestation confirmed that it was filthy. I spent the rest of the night sitting in the shared lounge then walking around the city. I was offered $20 compensation to wash all my things. Totally bad experience. Do not stay here.

THE DUVET COVER IS NOT CHANGED. Witnessed the house cleaning put the duvet with the used sheet back into the locker for the next person. They then proceeded to pick up the duvet sheet which I had stripped off my duvet, smell it, and then put it back onto the duvet. I stopped her saying that this was used and unclean. Staff replied that they do not change the duvet sheet between guests. Disgusting.
I would go there again. It was very nice and the vibe is awesome !
Not enough toilets and showers for everyone. Had to have a shower the other day in one that was blocked with nearly a foot in old shower water, gross! Everything is dated and unclean. Kitchen facilities useless, not enough utensils, no clean dish towels, no work top space. Lots of tables to eat at, however. Double room was small, bed in corner which is fine but curtain hanging off rail and was gross. Don't waste your money here.
Common areas like kitchen, toilets and showers were disgusting. The cleaning was poor. Found a Brown worm from my bed. Also, one thing is weird, you needed to do your on bed, so felt like I am the housekeeper here. Also the customer service was a bit dissapointed. Like you got ypurkey when u checked in but there were no instruction like where is what. Also hostel copied my passport. They never explained to me where and how long they Will keep my personal data. Definitely I wont go there twice.
The whole interior design except for the lobby can be compared to a prison. Only the most necessary things are to find. The dorms have a clinical white with black and grey. For me it felt like a heartless place with no joy. On the upper side the hostel was pretty modern, new and clean. Despite the fact of having booger on the wall of my sleeping area, but that should be an exception.
Rooms were absolutely unbearably hot. Bathrooms and kitchen facilities were fine but our room was like a sauna.
Agressief en intimederend personeel! Ga hier niet heen! Ik heb samen met mijn vriendin hier 1 nacht verbleven. De ervaring met één medewerker was afschuwelijk. Ik kan de medewerker omschrijven als een kleine gezette man die niet over communicatieve vaardigheden beschikt. Over deze medewerker zijn al meerdere slechte recenties geschreven. Misschien moet het hostel dit probleem aanpakken! Wij hadden uitgecheckt en onze bagage achtergelaten. De bagage konden we tot 9.00pm ophalen. Dit hebb...

Great stay, no complaints! For a night or a couple a very realiable option just downtown
Great spor with Regent Street shops/restaurant/bars right behind & the tram stops there every 20 minutes!

Realmente es el mejor hostal en que estado; he pasado por cinco países en esta ocasión en en otros años otro número y sigue siendo el mejor.
It's really the best hostel in that state; I've been to five countries this time in in other years another number and it's still the best.
Insgesamt ein ganz gutes Hostel. Küche groß & gut ausgestattet. Badezimmer unten sehr runtergekommen und weniger sauber, dafür im oberen Stockwerk renoviert & sauber. Im Zimmer kein Lichtschalter. Ganz nette Gemeinschaftsräume

Very nice stay! The dorm beds all have curtains and the sheets they provide are cozy. The kitchen is big and well equipped. Common area downstairs is great for hanging out. They have luggage storage during the day which was helpful. Short walk from the bus center and the botanic gardens, which we enjoyed. We'd definitely recommend this place!
Wir waren super zufrieden mit dem Hostel! Vor allem die Küche war wirklich sauber (war das erste Mal dass ich mich nicht vor den Schwämmen geekelt habe 😅)! Bei den Toiletten gab es Frauen, Männer und unisex-Toiletten. Abends konnte man Billard spielen, in der Lounge chillen, Spiele spielen oder sich ein Buch leihen. Es wurde also nicht langweilig! ☺️
We were super happy with the hostel! especially the kitchen was really clean (it was the first time that I didn't pee in front of the swimming pools 😅)! next to the toilets there were women's, men's and unisex toilets. in the evenings you could play billiards, chill in the lounge, play games or borrow a book. so it didn't get boring! ☺️

Incredible location, nice atmosphere, good staff. Kitchen facility could host a lot of people at once and it was always clean with a lot of pots, pans, cutting boards, knives, just missing some spoons! Free instant coffee was a lovely addition. The lounge space was awesome and they have events. Bunk beds were sturdy and clean, with a made bed when you arrive which we appreciated. Location was perfect, not too far from bus terminal and close to all things CBD CHCH.
stayed here a number or times over several years . The only issues can be people not quiet late night in hallways etc but otherwise it's a nice place to stay and great location , the staff has always been helpful as well..
Amazing staff and location! Unfortunately I believe my room had bedbugs as I have bites all over after a few days :( Also no elevator, though they do have a luggage room downstairs.
The stay was really central, but the staff were so ignorant and unhelpful. When I was checking in, one member of staff was stood around speaking to her friend and thought it appropriate to not acknowledge me for a good 10 minutes. She then got up and walked off, and the next guy was just as bad. Every question was answered with “I don’t know” in a really cocky tone and his attitude stunk. He didn’t want to be speaking to us whatsoever. The room had no windows too, which wasn’t advertis...
Das Hostel hat soweit alles, was man braucht. Ist auch relativ gut für Radfahrer, da sie eine große Garage für die Räder haben. Die Mitarbeiter geben sich Mühe für Sauberkeit. Aber es ist halt überhaupt nicht gemütlich. Der Essensraum/Küche ist laut, die Zimmer nebenan hören jeden Stuhl beim Aufstehen und hinsetzen. Es hat eine super Lage zur Innenstadt und Bushaltestelle. Auch Wäscheservice ist entspannt. Nur: es war nicht gemütlich für einen längeren Aufenthalt!
The hostel has almost everything you need. It is also relatively good for cyclists, as they have a large garage for the wheels. The staff make an effort to keep it clean. But it is not comfortable at all. The dining room/kitchen is noisy, the rooms next door hear every chair when you get up and sit down. It has a great location to the city center and bus stop. Also the laundry service is relaxed. Only: it was not comfortable for a longer stay!
Fab hostel in a great location, so central and easy to get around Christchurch if needed! Huge kitchen and social spaces, clean facilities and Chloe was so helpful with the top tips!!
Good location and price, but beds do move a lot and make a sound, but the privacy curtain was amazing plus the kitchen is huge
Good place to sleep & cook - for what we paid it was a very good hostel. Not a super social vibe tho

Urbanz is a Chch classic, great kitchen and staff would definitely recommend
