Hostel identifies as smart hostel, but smart functions are not really smart and can be more of a hindrance sometimes. Door has to be opened manually by staff everytime you enter and leave, so we had to wait in the pouring rain at arrival and were delayed when leaving. Bit of a shame, as the personel is really kind and helpful. Rooms are spacious and kitchen works great. Overall hygene not too bad, but also not great.

Nice mini-billiard table on the rooftop, but otherwise not many areas to just be (the main couch is more the families place to stay). Danilo and his family were amazing, super welcoming and incredibly helpful. Danilo has travelled a lot around Ecuador and other parts of South America, so has lots of useful suggestions. The automated tour booking system at the hostel was also super convenient. Overall the hostel is really nice, if further away from the majority of other hostels in Quito.

Chouette petit hostel situé dans un bon quartier de Quito. Le couple qui dirige l'hostel est tout simplement incroyable, la gentillesse incarnée ! de plus, ils nous ont donné de nombreux conseils sur Quito mais aussi sur l'Equateur en général. Si vous recherchez un hostel plutôt de type familial, je recommande vivement celui-ci !

We had a really nice stay. The location is close to the historic city centre and the staff super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the breakfast really good. We enjoyed it!

Hostel well located, the host (can't remember his name, sorry!!) was super helpful, at points wanting to be too helpful. We'd had a long journey and were super tired and he was telling us all about everything we could do in Ecuador, which was hard to concentrate on - but don't want to mark someone down for being too friendly! Restaurant on site is actually a nearby takeaway, which was a little overpriced. Good security, you have to ring thebell to get in and out. Useful hostel app to download.

Great, easy to stay hostel close to the Quito metro station and cable car attraction 👍 the remote checking was a bit confusing initially but then worked quite well. Thanks for having us

the kindest staff ever! I absolutely felt like at home, The staff is so kind and always willing to help you. The whole place is really cute and clean. I had a lovely calm time at Minka. I work remote and the staff made a special place for me to work outside of noise. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Really good place and they are really helpful to organise your travel with you

I really enjoyed my stay. The owners are super friendly and you can organize everthing you need via them. I had a single room, which was very good for the price. Location is great, only few minutes from ATM, supermarket, mercado and metro. Breakfast was also very good. Yes, it is a more relaxed and quieter Hostel, as people are not getting drunk every night at happy hour, like eg in Secret Garden.

Highly recommend Minka. Danilo the manager was very attentive - even gave me a lift to the airport to collect my partner to save us money on taxis!! There is a website with all the info you need for travelling in Quito/Ecuador with maps, tours and a food delivery menu! They clean the rooms during the day, so ask if you don’t want this (our door was left open unattended) but the building itself is pretty secure. I always feel at home here

Amazing spot, and the fact that it's all automated is really nice, owner was always available and helped with everything we asked. Awesome place to stay!

Exactly what I needed at that moment. The little family that own the place are really friendly and always there to help you when you have questions. I loved my time there ! The room is comfortable, you can order food directly to your room from their website.

Minka Hostel was a great find! It's just a block from the Santa Clara Trole station and 1/2 block from the Santa Clara Market. The staff are mostly family, very friendly and helpful, and the owner is a backpacker who provides lots of great travel recommendations. The free breakfast with fresh fruit juice was great. The only reason I marked the staff down one notch is because they are not always there; sometimes they run the hostel remotely from their phones. But that also keeps the cost down.

Dani and Alex were amazing hosts! We based ourselves here between trips to Galápagos, Amazon and Quilatoa and Minka really felt like home for us during this time. Rooms are clean and spacious with comfortable and very large beds. Great value for money, would recommend!

Huge double rooms, good free breakfast, good location and safe. The “smart” aspect of the hostel is super clever AKA messaging on WhatsApp for a useful and concise explanation for any of your questions, plus the website feature that explains tours and trips all over Quito and Ecuador! So useful. We loved our stay!

Tolles Hostel, der Besitzer hat eine hervorragende Website mit Tips zu Ausflügen und Aktivitäten in Quito aber auch in ganz Ecuador. Ideal auf Backpacker zugeschnitten. Leider war bei meinem Aufenthalt im Juli nicht viel los weshalb ich nicht so viel zu Stimmung und Atmosphäre im Hostel sagen kann.

The most welcoming hostel owners we met - and very comfy rooms!

Arrived close to midnight but received very clear instructions on how to enter the building. Breakfast was included and excellent. It was very quiet but location was good and felt safer to walk around especially at night compared to the hostels by the historical center.
