Sunlit Hostel

My partner and I stayed in a private room, booked for 2 nights but reduced to 1 due to our bad experience. We are both well-travelled and this is the worst hostel and customer service we have encountered. From check in, the reception staff were incredibly unfriendly, disengaged and rude. The room was nice but we were awoken at 7am with loud building works directly next door, which the hostel were aware of. We received no apology/compensation at the time. Overall, felt very unwelcome/distrusted.

Poor value. Justin was creepy and made me super uncomfortable. The service was very disappointing compared to other hostels in the Philippines. Bathrooms are dirty, smell like mold and urinal cakes. Rooms had an unpleasant musk. I'd recommend renting your scooter elsewhere, they are sneaky and try to keep your deposit. I got a beer and they wouldn't make change for me but pressured me to get more beers so that they didn't have to give me change. Lots of bad practices here, I would avoid.

Reception staff acts very bored and annoyed and doesn't listen to the guests problems. I was very sick with a contagious illness and had a dorm bed booked for two nights. I claimed that under my conditions I couldn`t stay in a dorm as it also would be a danger to the other guests in the room. I asked for an alternative in a private room , getting my money back or any other opportunity, but they just took the money and didn't care any further. Can't recommend

Soort bouwval buiten het centrum van siargao. Personeel heeeel streng, na 11 uur mocht ik niet meer in de gemeenschappelijke ruimte bellen maar mocht ik naar buiten in de regen 👍🏻 Ze organiseren activiteiten, maar worden vaak last minute afgelast. Strenge security in de avond. Geen sfeer. Positieve was het zwembad 👍🏻

Daily power cuts , aircon did not work properly we was told it turns on automatically but didn’t so several of us struggled to sleep due to heat. Renovation on the girls bathroom which we wasn’t told about means only 3 toilets and 4 showers available for 30/40 people! Had to queue for facilities, water smelt and has orange tinge, Construction started at 7am every morning, I spoke to the managers and asked for a refund was only given 400p from the 5600 I had paid! Other staff are lovely, sham...

Our dorm had no where to keep bags. On our first night the power was out all night so we had no ac in rooms. On our second day they began renovations on the girls toilets without informing anyone leaving everyone to share three toilets and four showers in the men’s bathroom. The water stinks like there might be something dead in the system. The power frequently drops out along the street.

Firstly the staff are so rude and not helpful at all even when the whole building doenst have water for 2 mornings in a row. The rooms smells and are tiny, the mattress might as well be from a homeless shelter. Location is ok but it’s far out from town and you have to get transport in. Overall the hostel is a catfish and looks nothing like the pictures. The only good thing about this hostel is that they have coke water available

This hostel was just completely disappointing. Very unwelcoming and rude staff. The wifi does not work in the rooms. The rooms were down right disgusting- dirt everywhere, the staff expected us to put our bags under the bed which meant they got covered in dirt. The lockers were not a appropriate size as well. The showers were cold and there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms. Ultimately, do not stay here!!! The staff will scare you off anyway. The photos look nothing like what you will arrive ...

Tiny and suffocating rooms, comfortable beds, curtain, lamp, small lockers, the common room is very small, spacious and clean bathroom, no wifi in rooms (and no service for 5G, awful), location ok, social place. Very noisy overall atmosphere, the cleaning staff cleans the rooms before Check-In time, turns on the lights, sings…

Het is hostel is prima en sociaal. Ik zou alleen afraden om je scooter hier te huren. Ze zullen je wanneer ze de kans je belazeren. De manager is arrogant en respectloos. Als je een scooterongeluk heb gehad en die niet ernstig is zou ik dit niet aan het hostelpersoneel vertellen. Ze maken zich niet druk om jouw gesteldheid en zullen een manier vinden om je een flink bedrag te laten betalen. Ze behandelen je met disrespect en lachen je gewoon uit in je gezicht als je iets zegt.

Incredibly friendly staff!! This hostel has a really great atmosphere. The pool is perfect and the games area upstairs was great. Would definitely stay again!

Great atmosphere and staff really get to you know and are very personable. Good events on each night and beds/rooms were really nice. Location is slightly away from tourism road but you can get tuk tuks for cheap nearby or rent a scooter from the hostel easily. Only negative is that when you hang your drying out when its dry it gets put ‘away’ which basically means lost forever

Great hostel situated between the main town and cloud 9. The pool was great and everyone is very sociable. Only downside is that the dorms are very small so there isn’t enough space for everyone’s stuff but it’s manageable with the drawers under the bedZ

I love this hostel!! The vibe is so social, everyone is chatty and inclusive, pool is amazing, events, rooms are nice, wonderful staff, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. A bit more expensive but worth it. I moved from the hostel across the road and I’m so grateful I did, this hostel has made my Siargao experience amazing !! Thank you

The best hostel in Siargao! This was my third hostel in the area and I wish I had booked here from the start. The staff are lovely and it’s so easy to make friends. Everyone is so nice and are mostly short-stays so there’s a good atmosphere. The layout also encourages people to socialise. Loved the trivia and billiards nights. The hostel is also very clean and you get given keys to your lockers which I appreciated as I had lost my padlock.

I absolutely loved sunlit hostel! Clean and social. Not party, and you have a lot of events to meet people. The pool is amazing and clean. The beds have curtains. Love the pool and ping pong tables.

Really great hostel with the best staff. The rooms are clean, although the bathrooms could use an upgrade. The hostel is located in a good location imo, kind of in the middle between the hostels towards the north (MM and rucksack) and the nightlife street towards the south. Social activities is kind of a hit or miss here, the pool party and family dinner nights were very social, but other nights i found that there wasn't too much going on. Really great and friendly staff! The bar, pool area and kitchen invite to socialize with other travelers. Many great events planned by the staff and amazing family dinners. Can only highly recommend!

We had an amazing week at Sunlit. The staff is literally the nicest. The rooms are comfortable, the common areas are also very nice and they organize activities every day so it is quite easy to meet people. The pool area is great. You can rent scooters directly at the reception. We’d definitely come back here for a future trip to Siargao.

Solo traveler. I loved this hostel and the people I met. Not a lot of people attended the events with the amount of people staying there. But I still found people quite social. I was able to meet the coolest people, especially in the pool, which was luxurious. Bed was comfy with good space in the room. Location was good. Food (plant-based) right across the hostel made it convenient. The facilities were clean. Staff were decent. Absolutely would recommend.

This was a lovely stay, recommended for those who want to stay a bit further from the noise. I really enjoyed the pool and common area upstairs!

One of nicest hostels, great vibes, not always the most busy but everyone who is there are so easy to connect too. Would deffo stay here again

We were accommodated in a dorm for 10 people. It depends on who you get in the room, sometimes you get a good night's sleep, sometimes you are woken up by your roommates who come back to the room quite noisily at different times of the night. If you are looking for a place to work, I don't really recommend this. There is constant music playing, which you can hear in the room. We loved our stay at Sunlit Hostel! The hostel has a lovely pool area, which is popular in the mornings to meet other travellers - as well as having an atmosphere in the evening by hosting events and family dinners!! Overall the biggest highlight is how friendly the staff are, big shoutout to the reception girlies and Listher :)

Nice hostel. Good bed/bunks. They had social events but no one really attended while I was there even though fully booked.
