Disappointing experience and not worth the money in its current guise. Property is a building site at the moment. Only available spaces are the kitchen and laundry. We cooked food and the only available space to eat at a table is outside surrounded by building works. The room we stayed in was very nice and had been completed to a high standard.
Currently undergoing major renovation - great location/potential but would not recommend staying here until it’s finished. There is no indoor communal/dining space, very poor temporary wifi, no working AC, loud radio music from builders. It’s a con it’s still full price really, stay at Adventure Wanaka instead.
We booked a 2 bed private and were given a single bed in a private room and still charged me for the 2 bed private
Great hostel, good kitchen/en suites/ beds all nice. Only thing knocking it down was the price.
Overall a good hostel and a convenient location. However, I was a bit disappointed by the check-in experience. I arrived early with the InterCity bus and asked if I could leave my backpack until check-in later the same day. I was told this was possible, but only for an additional NZD 5 fee. While not a large amount, it felt unwelcoming as a paying guest, as luggage storage before check-in is usually complimentary in most hostels. Apart from that the stay was fine.
Kitchen is very bad equiped and not very clean. There are pans and pots but their coating is pealing off. Looked so unhealthy. Moreover it was very cold in the rooms as well as in the dining room. Did not feel comfortable. The team however was nice and the rooms were fine. Location is good. All in all I would just choose another hostel in Wanaka next time

We were unfortunately very disappointed with our stay. The building itself is great, and with the right staff the hostel has the potential to be one of the best. Sadly, the current staff made our experience quite negative. First, the staff — particularly the French staff — were very unfriendly. They also forgot to hand over a package that had been left for us, even though they had promised our family member during check-in that they would give it to us. On top of that, they seemed annoyed...
Das Bett war bequem und das Zimmer war sauber. Für den Preis fände ich es aber angemessen ein kostenloses Handtuch zur Verfügung zu stellen. Des Weiteren war es schade das kein Duschgel in der Dusche war. Die Toiletten auf dem flur waren leider recht dreckig.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean, but for the price I would find it reasonable to provide a free towel, and it was a shame that there was no shower gel in the shower, unfortunately the toilets on the first floor were pretty dirty.

Top facilities and well thought through design. The kitchen might be a little small for being such a large hostel, but as long as you are a little flexible and not in a rush, thats not a problem. Easy to meet and talk with fellow travelers and plenty of sitting space and common areas. The staff are super service minded and accomodating. A place where its easy to thrive.

Dorms are comfortable,with big lockers, kitchen is really nice and the location is right by the lake
mostly really good, great location, nice people, only issue was the shower in my room was a bit inconsistent but it was nice to have a toilet just for our room
I stayed here nine years ago and I love what they have done to place. One late afternoon the fire alarm went off, I was chilling outside and it seemed really unorganized and no worker was on site. One guy seemed to then proceeded to tell the workers what to do. As a Kiwi myself I went in and had to tell people that it’s a fire alarm leave the building. There was no explanation- I recommended having no smoking/vaping signs around as some countries it’s okay to do so inside

Really good hostel, staff were pretty much always around and cleaning/sorting bits out! Always friendly to help sort things out or answer questions. Had really good vibe. Only downside was shower pressure but everything else was perfect so didn’t mind too much.
Amzing hostel Spotless clean Great people
This place was amazing!! Felt like we were at a five star hotel. Cleanliness was Paramount. We stayed in a private room that had its own bath. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap provided as well as towels, hair, dryer, hot water, kettle, and coffee cups in the room. Wish we had stayed more than the one night because it was an amazing lodge.
As everywhere in Haka there isn't a great atmosphere. The bathrooms & kitchen were pretty nice. The beds are good as well. 🙂
