This hostel is a genuine health hazard with the amount of mould growing in the building. If you look through these reviews it’s been an issue for over 8 years and it is still very much a problem. We booked two nights and stayed for one night as the conditions were so bad. You notice the smell as you walk in the building, especially in the luggage room. I raised my concerns with management and they did not take it seriously. I wish I knew this before booking as they refused a refund

I’m not picky when it comes to Hostels but your money is def better spent somewhere else. The whole place smells like an old bowling alley, the dorm beds are straight out of a prison, air quality is very bad and you can’t open any windows in any of the rooms since it’s an old Office block and you have to put on and take if your own beddings. I really don’t know what the staff is doing there all day.

awful, no plug sockets, no air conditioning, had to make my own bed, didn’t realize the room was a electric scooter parking lot! Would not recommend would rather sleep in a bin.

This hostel is terrible. We had mold all over our room walls and it always smelled completely musty, like a basement. We were told they would send someone to clean it, which is totally ridiculous because you can't clean mold. It was still there after cleaning. The entire building does not have a single window that can be opened. The building is only ventilated by an ancient ventilation system, which is totally noisy and you can't sleep in it. The kitchen is super dirty and there are cockroaches.

Not worth the price AT ALL, good for travelling on a budget except this was not even cheap for what it was

The air in the hostle rooms was disgusting. It smells like mold (which probably comes from the walls) and the airconditioning isn‘t really working at all. I get that this hostle is very cheap, especially for the area of Auckland. However I think for the health of every person staying there, they should take some actions like removing the mold. Sadly I can‘t say that we had a nice or even pleasent stay. I wouldn‘t recommend staying longer than a night and only if there isn‘t another opt...

MOLD!! dirt and mold everywhere, it’s terrible, and the ac is super duper loud at night

There was a cockroach on the floor within 5 minutes of entering. Tiny communal area in the lobby. The whole place stank of urine, cannabis and cigarettes. Kitchen was always closed from 11-1 and half the time no one was even cleaning. Kitchen and dining room too small for the amount of people. Bathrooms disgusting with hair and mold in them. Bedroom was very small and no AC or windows. The curtains had mold on them. Walls were paper thin and could here person next to us snoring all night.

It was a nice stay for a few nights. Perfect location. The room itself was spacious however it was extremely cold and the duvets were very thin. There were many fridges and freezers available however they were jam packed so bare this in mind when booking. Overall, it was a nice stay and no real problems:)

Le moins cher à Auckland. Simple et efficace pour une nuit ou deux. Installation basique. Le backpacker est très propre mise à part la cuisine. L'emplacement est idéal.

Simple clean good location good price

Hostel felt quite dirty and stunk of fish. Very weird vibe with a lot of creepy people. Dorms very basic. Toilets and showers dated and tatty. Location very central but feels rough at night

Das Einzelzimmer war viel zu kalt!!! Klimaanlage lief immer und war nicht zu ändern.

Lovely hostel with lots of potential. Current manager has just returned and is making everyone extremely uncomfortable. Will look to return once he leaves.

A handy place close to everything, had all facilities etc needed, clean and good environment, like to stay again.

There was no trashcan or mirrow in the room, but the bedsheets were fresh and the beds were comfortable. I would not cook in the kitchen and it isn't that social.

Fairly dingy overall in presentation with some off smells about the place. As a place to sleep it's grand

Habitaciones sucias y con mal olor. La cama la tuve que hacer yo personalmente, solo me dieron las sabanas. La cocina me pareció bastante chica para la cantidad de personas que viven ahi. La verdad no volvería ni lo recomendaría. El precio es bajo en comparación a otros Hostels, pero la verdad es que el servicio y estado de las instalaciones son bastante malos aun para el este precio.

Pros: great location, reasonable price, excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water, friendly. Cons: 1. Showers didn’t drain well and flooded bathroom. Are not the showers advertised. No space at all in the shower “closet” 2. No heater in the rooms midwinter nor any central heating on the floor so it’s as cold as outside. Yet they repaint their lobby the same color as before. Kitchen very small for 7 floors of rooms. Bed a bit uncomfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.

Okay few a weekend stay. Beds were very nice and comfy. Good laundry area. Kitchen was quite small with no windows. Hostel didn't have a super comfortable vibe and looked a bit old. Staff are helpful.

You get what you pay for .The mattresses in the dorms should all be replaced with new comfy Ones would save a lot of back ache and Sleep deprivation otherwise ok Hostel.If they don't replace the mattresses don't stay!!!!

I had a hole in my mattress and got stabbed in the middle of the night by the feather of the bed
