Place smelled like garbage, no paper towels in the bathrooms just TOWELS which is gross. Great location but I did not enjoy how I felt there.

Overall not great wouldnt stay here again. Private room was ok. The kitchen was hectic and not clean. Not enough areas for chilling outside of kitchen. Alot of longterm people staying here so the vibe wasnt great.

The Hostel is literally the worst place I have stayed here in my time in New Zealand! It was sooo disgusting and looks nothing like the pictures on the internet! The kitchen was filled with old food everywhere, flies everywhere, mold in all the fridges and dirty dishes in all the sinks.. There were pee on the floor inside the bathrooms and poop on one of the toilet seats… it was literally like that our whole stay.. please use your money elsewhere!!

Terrible attention by staff, unfriendly atmosphere from guests, unhygienic toilets and showers and lack of 24/7 reception confused me as to check in procedures late at night upon arrival and I was locked out on the street at 3 am

Common room is extremely small, the fridges are always full so you can’t use them. There are way too many guests. I was in a tiny room with 8 people and the air was horrible. I fell ill during the last days of my stay and it lasted for over a week.

Badezimmer waren komplett verdreckt. Ich hatte eigentlich für 2 Nächte gebucht, bin aber nach einer wieder abgereist weil es so schlimm war. In meinem Zimmer hatte ich keinen Platz um mein Rucksack abzulegen weil sich die Dauerbewohner so ausgebreitet hatten. Außerdem haben sie untereinander nur in ihrer Sprache gesprochen und wenn man etwas gefragt oder gesagt hat hat man keine Antwort bekommen. Sowas schlimmes habe ich noch nie erlebt!

Good clean hostel. However we checked out early and returned our keys but I have been trying now for 2 days to get my deposit back and then are not responding to my emails.

Very nice staff. But much darker than the pictures and no ventilation so was almost too hot to sleep most nights. Bathrooms very clean and nice to use. Kitchens and other facilities very dirty and unusable.

Not the cleanest and not social. Beds are comfy at least

The duvet I had smelled like it hadn’t been washed in weeks, but the room was so hot, fortunately I didn’t need it. They say no alcohol on the premises, but that is not reinforced at all, which may be the cause of the urine all over the bathroom floor. The walls are paper thin, so it’s super noisy. The location is good, but I will not be staying here again if I can help it.

Good stay in Auckland. Near to the city center. Really hot in the hot but clean. Bathroom are really big and check-in and check out are really easy

I asked for a different room because the room smelled, and they helped me right away without any problem, which was really nice. The beds were fine, but they don’t change the sheets after every guest—I only found that out on my last day. The toilets and showers were clean. The kitchen was a bit small for the number of people.

I stayed here for three weeks, and the only thing I liked about it was that it was cheap. There is no AC, so the rooms were uncomfortable. A staff member wrongly informed me that I could park on the side of the road, and my van got towed. Management did not care. They change the code to get into the hostel every so often, which is good for security reasons, but they do a bad job about letting the guests know. One night I got back and the code had changed and I was locked out for a long time.

Stayed here twice on a trip to the North Island. The staff were incredibly unhelpful when my cabinet was taken - I messaged and asked at the desk twice and nothing was done to resolve it. Overall the bathrooms were a little unclean but the bed was fine and the kitchen was okay. Not sure if I’d stay here again due to the terrible reception service.

Nice place, dorms have beds with curtains which is nice. The downside is that the bathrooms are for both men and women and there isn’t an ac, but there is a fan in the room

Went for NY and the whole hostel was out together. Super friendly host who got the party going. Small kitchen and living areas, but makes for good socialising with the mix of short and long termers. At the northern end of the CBD so quite a walk to get to town.

War hier nur für eine Nacht für Silvester. Es war sehr sehr voll. Hostel macht von außen und in den Fluren schon eher einen ranzigen Eindruck, aber die Badezimmer und Räume sind doch ganz ordentlich. Nur abgesehen von den Betten hat man leider fast gar keinen Platz für irgendwas in den Räumen

Ich hatte eine Schlafkapsel. Es war super. Sehr viele Duschen und Toiletten 👍🏻

It’s my first experience at a hostel and I felt welcomed by staff and fellow travelers. Big thanks to cleaning staff who worked hard but you can’t expect her to clean after some ”P”. I definitely would consider coming back 🙏

For a budget hostel it’s fine. The shower was hot but not well equipped. The bed had a curtain but it wasn’t particularly private.

people kept to themselves but location a lot nicer than some hostels in Auckland. Did everything we needed, however small amount of laundry facilities.

War völlig in Ordnung. Küche ist groß und übersichtlich! Badezimmer sind nicht getrennt. Aber wird täglich mehrmals gereinigt. Kann ich auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen!

Wir haben uns in der Hobson Lodge super wohl gefühlt! Die Mitarbeiter waren nett und sind auf die Gäste zugegangen. Die Toiletten waren eigentlich immer sauber. Die Küche wirkte ebenfalls sehr clean was uns super wichtig war (gibt halt immer Leute die ihren scheiß nicht wegräumen 🙃😅) aber sonst wurde jeden Morgen sowohl Küche als auch Toiletten gründlich durch Personal (keine Backpacker) geputzt. Amazing vibe and super friendly staff! The common area was perfect for meeting other travelers, and everything was really clean. Great location too, close to everything. Would 100% recommend and stay here again!

Location was good, just outside of the hustle and bustle of the city centre so you can’t hear any loud music at night. Room was good but could do with some lighting in your bunk bed. I wouldn’t say it was the most social hostel but I enjoyed my stay here.

Lugar cómodo, tiene privacidad al tener cortina en las camas y cada una su enchufe. Muchos implementos de cocina y un gran espacio para comer y compartir con otra personas. Lo malo es que hace mucho calor.

I appreciated staff flexibility to let me check in earlier and leave my bag at reception for a while after check out - thank you! My stay was okay, it could be improved if it was completely clear that although there is a female only dorm, that the bathrooms are all shared; to have a light and shelf next to each bed; and for the bathrooms to have been a bit cleaner ( but probably more down to guests than cleaners). The poster of trespassers on the front door was unnerving when I first arrived...

It was a nice hostel and the staff was really really friendly :)

Amazing location, the staff was so lovely and friendly always welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and the toilets were so many to choose from. Great place
