Hostel Nicoa

I had a pretty awful experience. Slept directly on the mattress since there were no clean sheets. Bathroom was filthy and falling apart. I had to text the owner who was out of town to get toilet paper. There was a loud party going on, one girl passed out drunk, another sick in the bathroom. Breakfast was not included like the listing said. It’s pretty far out of the main part of town in a residential area.

No hot water, no ac until 10pm, empty, pool was green and owner left and locked the place on a Friday night.

The hostel is a beautiful home with a nice pool. the staff are incredibly nice and people are friendly. It is located a 10min drive away from the main beaches and parts of town, so quite isolated. Finally check out was a bit of a disaster as the hostel were absent in the morning and also had no change on site for us to pay. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we made good friends but next time I aim to stay by the beach.

False advertising - breakfast is DIY, ran out of supplies and coffee on multiple occasions. Kitchen feels cluttered and unkept. Bedrooms and the rest of the hostel are clean, pool is awesome! Not sure who the host is/was, didn’t seem to be any staff at this hostel.

Frederico's great guy, very welcoming & friendly & laid back. Hostel is good value. It is located down a very bad road which requires a 4x4. The hostel itself is more like a large house w bunk beds in it. Fyi Theres nowhere to get away from people/ noise. Where the couches are there are oddly zero lights so it's next to impossible to read a book, and there's no tv. No bedlights @ beds & no curtains on any b-room windows. Not a huge deal, something to note. Basic facilities. No shoes inside.

We had a very good stay, a very quiet and clean establishment. The pool is a real asset. Thank you for the welcome

Das Hostel ist außerhalb von Nosara, zu den Stränden läuft man ungefähr 45 Minuten. Der Besitzer ist aber sehr hilfsbereit und organisiert auch Transporte, informiert über Touren und was man alles machen kann. Jede Frage wird sofort und exakt beantwortet, mit allen nötigen Details. Top! Das Hostel selber ist sehr geräumig, das 10-Bett-Zimmer ist sehr groß. Sonst ist es eher Basic, ich habe den Aufenthalt aber sehr genossen, weil es sehr entspannt dort ist.

nice budget friendly place to stay if you want to visit nosara as everything closer is super expensive, but its located very far from the beach and any shop. however the host is great he helps you organize cheap tuk tuks to/from where ever you want to go. its a renovated house in a local neighborhood which is a bit odd and there were only 1 or 2 other people while i was there so no social aspect, but its very very clean with nice facilities and a good cheap place to stay

I loved the people I met and everyone was very helpful and welcoming. A bit far from town for me and the property and appliances could have been kept up better. The air conditioning was a blessing. Great place for meeting people and having fun.

Small Hostel outside of nosara. The owner is really nice, it has a pool, but the next beach is 50 minutes by football away, so you'll always have to call a taxi(which is pretty cheap though)

Had a blast here thanks to Federico, the hostel owner. Hospitality was through the roof and he made me feel very comfortable and accommodated right away. Place was awesome with ac, kitchen, and pool. Although the beach is too far of a walk, Federico had a guy that would drive you to and from the beach for cheap.

Only stayed one night but cozy hostel and probably nicest place that’s cheap in nosara!! Enjoyed my stay very much!!

Hostel Nicoa felt like a family home to me. Federico really goes above and beyond to make his guests feel like home and includes everyone at the hostel in group conversations and activities. He was really born to do this. It was a very special part of my trip so much in fact that I actually ended up coming back a week after I left just to spend some time back at the Hostel before I took my flight back home. It was very clean and i slept so well too.

Fantastic hostel! I came for 3 nights and decided to stay 2 more. Quiet location surrounded by nature and wildlife, we had a bbq pretty much every night

I had a really great stay at Hostel Nicoa. The owner is a very great guy and can tell you everything you need to know about Nosara.

Good place for a cheap stay in Nosara, Fede, the owner, was very helpful with everything I needed. I checked in super late and he gave me the full tour of the place, the bed was clean and the kitchen had everything you need to cook a proper meal. He also helped me out with recommendations of places to eat in town

I loved my time at Hostel Nicoa and highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet space in nature. The staff was fabulous and provided a community/family atmosphere. The pool was refreshing, beds were comfortable, plus the bicycles and laundry facilities were included!

Was such a great stay! So cool to be out of the main part of Nosara and have a more authentic Costa Rican experience. It was also still easy to get to town with the tuk tuks. Frederico and the staff were so welcoming! Had a lot of fun learning acro yoga from Leo. Was so nice to meet other travels and the experience was just so wholesome! One of the best hostels and most unique hostels I’ve ever stayed at.

This hostel felt more like I was renting an airbnb with a couple of friends. Frederico was super helpful with everything and you can tell he loved to have people around. I rented an atv and went to a few beaches that he had recommended me! I loved staying here but I do recommend getting a way of transportation because everything is far (tuktuks are available but can get expensive)

Stayed for one night, was late due to a traffic accident but Federico was still there to invite me in after hours and ensure I was settled. Enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast with him and his cats before continuing on my journey. Well recommended for a quite stay outside of the core of Nosara.

I loved this place and had a really good stay! It's very clean and calm, and lots of beautiful nature around. Federico is an amazing host, super helpful and nice. There was free coffee and fruits available in the morning which was also lovely. Overall a really good vibe, I wish I could have stayed longer!

Gesamthaft gute Unterkunft! Host wat super-sympathisch und hilfsbereit. Sauberkeit und Haus in Schweizer-Qualität:) Die Lage ist eher etwas abgelegen, aber alle die Einheimischen sind stets offen und nehmen einen gerne mit in Richtung Strand oder Zentrum (oder Taxi/Tuk tuk) ausserdem ist es dafür schön ruhig und friedlich in der Gegend. Kann es zu 100% empfehlen und kehre bestimmt auch wieder zurück :) Liebe Grüsse

El dueño de la casa da muchas recomendaciones, ayuda con el transporte, esta muy atento de que los huéspedes están a gusto. El lugar es tranquilo, verde, la piscina es agradable, y realmente no estás tan lejos de los sitios, simplemente necesitas un tuktuk. Los otros huéspedes encantadores. Recomendamos mucho que de queden aquí!!

Very good hostel! Federico is very kind and helpful with everything. And you feel welcome in the hostel. Also the pool is a plus. In total a very nice hostel for staying in Nosara.
