The property didn’t exist. It was a construction zone of rubble. Worst experience that could’ve ever happened.

Not a real hostel, and it shouldn’t be on Hostelworld. It smelled terrible, was in a sketchy part of town, the owner is aloof and slightly abrasive. There was junk lying around everywhere. We didn’t trust anyone and there was no security on sight besides the owner. Our beds were not ready even though we had booked the day before. The hostel has clearly had better days; the kitchen is not clean and the bathroom can be improved, the administration should pay attention to those aspects. it would also be a good idea to ask guests to maintain the air conditioning similar to the outside environment (when I arrived at the room it was 22 and I froze). the environment is surfing but not hygienic; the beds are comfortable but not worth the cost, although it is a low price but it is not about abusing the order either.
On est arrivés dans la soirée, personne n’était là pour nous accueillir. Ce sont des clients de l’auberge qui nous ont montré les lieux. On ne s’est pas senties hyper en sécurité. Ça fait le job mais personnellement je ne recommande pas.

El dólar depreciado y el peso MX sobrevalorado Hace que la relación precio/calidad no corresponda a una realidad objetiva.. Son embargo la amabilidad de Joe, compensa todo.
The depreciated dollar and the overvalued MX peso makes the price/quality ratio not correspond to an objective reality..
very barebones hostel- i probably wouldn't want to stay here more than 1 night. there wasn't really anyone staying there when i was there- just a few others so can't speak to the vibes. wifi is strong, location is close- just 10 min walk to the central area. there were lockers where you could lock your stuff in the rooms.
The place was clean, with decent wifi, and in good location. On the other hand, the hosts were being unapologetically unwelcoming, patronizing, blaming, and self-focused when I arrived after an exhaustive trip. It was challenging to protect my boundaries and establish peace. I wasn't feeling safe with them. Won't stay again.
It’s a surfers vibe, an intermit space with a handful of beds. Very laid back, chilled and everything you need but nothing fancy. Joe and Mama are beautiful people. Surfing with Joe is must, if you’re not interested in surfing or a chill vibe this may not be the place for you. If you want a taste of Mexicos surf life style, pop in. The owner is also very friendly, friendly and safe, and I recommend it.
Super relaxed, easygoing vibe all around. The outdoor space is amazing, really comfortable. Loved the hammock! Joe, the owner, is incredibly friendly and laid-back. You’ll definitely end up spending time chatting with him, which adds a lot to the experience. If you’re into surfing, he rents out boards and offers lessons for beginners. Cherry on top: Jeoe has two cute cats that hang around in the common areas. I loved every part of my stay here! Gracias por todo Joe.
We had an amazing time in this hostel with my friend. It feels like home. The beds are very confortable and clean. The shower is also very nice. But most importantly the vibe in the hostel is very chill. Also you can learn how to surf or just keep on learning by taking classes with Jo ( one of the owner) which is a very good instructor. It was one of the best moment of our trip. I highly recommend this hostel

I had such an amazing time staying here. The property has great vibes and is in a great location, just a few blocks from the downtown gallery district. Joe is so cool and friendly. He has significant surfing knowledge and was a great teacher. I hope to return very soon!!

i only stayed one night but the hostel was beautiful & i felt so safe that i slept in the hammock outside under the stars!

No es un Hostel es directamente una Hermosa 🏠 nonono... Better a castle directly with the vibration of surfers super cool and chill discreet with space the comfortable rooms always come back here the owner Joe (my twin 😜) is super and very good wave friendly location is perfect with lots of restaurants and shops and Super market on one side and the other to go to the center and the plaque and for 20 more minutes to the long beach ️ good is how my house and barrio when I come back here ❤️

Solo pasé la noche para en la mañana tomar mi vuelo pero tiene camas muy cómodas , todos muy buena onda y todo lo necesario para estar ahi
I only stayed overnight to catch my flight in the morning but it has very comfortable beds, all very good waves and everything you need to be there
La pasé increíble en The Riptide. Al ser un hostel pequeño, se siente todo mucho más cercano. Joe, el dueño, está siempre por ahí y eso hace que el ambiente sea muy auténtico. Conecté con la gente de una forma que no me ha pasado en otros hostales. 100% recomendado.
I had an amazing time at The Riptide. Being a small hostel, it feels much closer. Joe, the owner, is always around and that makes the atmosphere very authentic. I connected with people in a way that I have not experienced in other hostels. 100% recommended.
Solo tuve el placer de hospedarme un dia el lugar es humilde pero cumple con lo importante, esta muy cerca del centro, y muy cerca de donde pasa los autobuses incluyendo la ruta del desierto, el staff que por lo que entiendo que es familia son super amables y me senti en casa, la señora, la mama, es una persona muy dulce y me ayudo con varias cosas de la ciudad y recomendaciones.le agradezco mucho.
I only had the pleasure of staying for one day the place is humble but fulfills the important, it is very close to the center, and very close to where the buses pass including the desert route, the staff who from what I understand is family are super friendly and I felt at home, la señora, la madre, she is a very sweet person and helps me with various things of the city and recommendations. thank you very much.

Loved this hostel! Perfect for solo travelers, surfer enthusiasts, getting around on a budget, someone looking for a unique experience! Highly recommend and absolutely incredible hosts :) - amazing location to beach and centro/ downtown San Jose, very walkable - quick 10 min walk to bus that takes you all over Baja - clean and comfortable facilities - safe and secure - amazing hosts (son and mom) - skateboards & bikes to take out for free - awesome rate to rent boards - great value!!!
