Elterwater Hostel

This has become one of my favourite hostels! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and bright, and the bathrooms and kitchen are very clean. It’s in a great location too, in a very small and lovely town, but not too far from bigger towns like Ambleside or Grasmere!

Wonderful location to enjoy the beautiful Lake District! Friendly staff, clean facilities including a large communal kitchen, and a variety of meal options available for purchase. Also a short walk from the bus stop to connect to other surrounding towns and trails. Would recommend!

Top place. Antony is ace. Very accommodating. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Did me a sandwich for my hike. Reasonable prices. Fantastic atmosphere and welcoming. Thank you!!!

My sister and I had a short but lovely stay here. Location is gorgeous, we witnessed the most beautiful sunrise outside our bedroom window! The staff were very kind and even upgraded our room. We look forward to staying here again.

Thank you, from Henry and me, we had a fabulous time. Comfy beds, great bathrooms. You were all so friendly & gave us lots of advice including how to tackle the different routes up Scafell Pike, advice on parking at various spots & other valuable informaion. You clearly love your jobs & enjoy sharing your knowledge of the area. The cooking facilities are great and well organised; clean, with pleanty of cooking pots & pans, storage and refrigeration. Or chef can cook for you!

The staffs were very friendly, the property is very clean and despite being in a quiet, remote place of the countryside, it is only 3 mins walk to the bus stop and the popular pub. A very beautiful place.

Great stay at Elterwater Hostel. Perfect location not far from the local hot spots & only a short drive to Scafell Pike & other hiking routes. Staff were friendly & very helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommend!

Very friendly and good service. Good evening meal deal of main and pudding for £15 - a great deal and much better than any other options around. Tasty breakfast too, and very hot drying room for dealing with any wet clothes!

Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle wirklich sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vom Hostel aus kann man viel zu Fuß erkunden, oder auch mit dem Bus fahren. Man hat die Optionen vor Ort zu essen oder selbst zu kochen, was ich wirklich toll finde. Ich kann das Hostel nur empfehlen! Ich würde sehr gerne wiederkommen. :)

Best hostel of my trip.A lovely couple run the place andare amazing for advice and service. I'd give them 11 out of 10 if I could. Told my friend and I about the Langdale pikes hike and I haven't seen a more beautiful hike since Snowdon. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

My trip was amazing. The hostel felt very homely and the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. I felt very safe staying here on my own. The surrounding area is beautiful, I would highly recommend it here!

Absolutely wonderful stay with wonderful team of people working at the hostel - super friendly and always willing to chat and help out with the local area. I stayed when the hostel was quite quiet and even then, we made lots of memories as a little group with beautiful hikes just around the corner. Facilities were clean and bedrooms were comfy. Will definitely stay again.
