Astra Hostel

Hi, I was delayed getting to the hostel and reception is operated remotely. It took some time and a few emails to get the necessary check in details sorted - copy of ID by email (fortunately I had a copy on file!). The the payment needed to be made - another email with the details. Then another email with the entrance code and instructions. I was glad I had some battery life on my phone as that took about 20 min. No power for phone charing in the pods despite usb port - very frustrating!

First of all, I came in front of the address and pressed all buttons and there was NO sign that the hostel existed. After waiting 20+ minutes outside, I found an email (which looked like a scam) from them. I was then met and checked in. There is no lift and SO many sets of stairs up and down (note if you have a foot injury as I did for example). My worst, worst thing which I emailed to the management was that I paid for an all-MALE dorm and I walk in to 2 females in there. 0 reasoning 0 response...

Hostel was great loved the pods , the hostel however isn’t sign posted well which was mentioned in other reviews . The location is great with pubs and shops nearby

Nice place to stay for couples!

The host was communicative until I arrived, then stopped replying. We had no towels as promised and no hand soap in the small bathroom. The common space was dirty and just had basic tables & chairs & some old food. No games or anything else. The beds were comfy and clean though, and I loved the pod style! The location was actually excellent, close to bars and shops, I just couldn’t rate it high because it affected the overall rating.
