With the worst hostel I've ever been in. the location is about 30-45 minutes by car from the city center. there is a rule to take off the shoes in front of the front door, which I also don't think is basically bad and it's also totally normal in many Asian countries, the problem is only that the floor itself is super dirty. i can't say exactly when the men's bathroom was last cleaned, it definitely doesn't look like it would be regular.
when i arrived at this hostel around 3 in the middle of the night they informed me they were overbooked so i had to find another place to sleep or sleep on a matrass on the ground in the public space. this is hostel unworthy and bad management. normally if you book a place to sleep this means you have right on a bed in the hostel not a matrass on the ground. what should I do? fix another hotel in the middle of the night? hope they learn from their mistakes and don't to this to any costumer again
The hostel is in Umbau. it is about 1km further away. on arrival we were driven there. the kitchen was not fertig, so there was no cooking possibility, no Kühlschrank. Bäder nicht fertig. The doors were open day and night. the bunk beds were so wobbly that one should sleep with more than 70kg on the bottom, otherwise one comes up against the bed. one notices every slight movement of the bottom. it is an 8 instead of 6 bed dorm.
The hostel primarily caters senior travelers and temporary Indian workers. The vibe is very weird. There are only two showers at the hostel and shower is not working. As bizarre as it might sound, on my last day morning there were human feces on the hallway.
It's basically a nice and sociable hostel whichis well located, but the cleanliness of it very questionable. The upstairs toilet upstairs had not been cleaned for two entire days which is an absolute no-go.
Basil was friendly and helpful. Only 2 bathrooms for all the guests. Close to the airport.
The hostel is very social with nice seating areas, but the front door is open all day, which feels a bit unsafe. Not all lockers work, and there is no alternative for storing valuables. The bed linen smelled unpleasant. The bathrooms were the worst part: dirty, full of hair, and the men's shower smelled like a toilet. Okay for one night, but not again.
It is a very sociable hostel and without wanting to look for it, you make friends easily. take into account a few things: 1) there are few bathrooms for the number of people 2) in Muscat it is very hot and the hostel is relatively far from any bus stop to take you to the center or the tourist area, which implies a 50 minute trip. having known that, I would pay a little more for another hostel De resto, a lot of good vibe and good disposition.
Prima basic hostel voor op doorreis of voor een tussenstop. Vriendelijke eigenaar Basil! Ruime slaapzaal. Fris en schoon beddengoed.
Prima basic hostel for op doorreis or for een tussenstop. friendly owner Basil! spacious bedroom. fresh and clean bedroom.
The lounge area is quite good to sit, chat and relax. The staff is helpful.

AMAZING. Near to the airport!
It’s a very social hostel, great atmosphere I enjoyed my stay. The only issue is the water pressure which was very less.
Most welcoming and nice hostel. It really feels like a temporary home!
Amazing Hostel, great energy
Amazing experience. The hostel is comfortable and the atmosphere is super chill and friendly. Definitely a good choice

Miss my time here! Very chill and community based hostel, Basel and Ziad are really lovely people :)
The best hostel vibe ever! The common area was my favorite so cozy it felt like home. The dorm rooms are ok, but the bathrooms/showers were not the cleanest. Kitchen has everything you need. We meet amazing people and would come back any time!! Thanks Basil 🤗

good and better
everything was perfect. they create an atmosphere which is very welcoming and there are some tours offered so its easy to meet new people. Also, they really go out of their way to help you, if you have a problem (for example if you lose your passport). definitely will come back!

I had an incredible time at Basil Hostel! There was a very homely, social and friendly vibe facilitated by the owners Basil and Ziyad. The hostel also has group trips so you can explore and meet some more folks. Pro tip: there is one bathroom per room, so best to use it when it is freshly cleaned
Amazing vibes, met a lot of awesome backpackers. Basel, the host, is a backpacker himself and was extremely welcoming and created an amazing vibe at his hostel. I had a great time at Basil Hostel.
A really nice hostel, good location and a good atmosphere. The owner and his brother are amazing people, really helpful with everything.
Place to stay in Oman. Super easy to make friends, and the hostel runs tours. The hostel attracts well-traveled interesting people. Staff are friendly. Only two bathrooms in the hostel, so long waits for shower/toilet. Beds have curtain, electric plugs, and nightlight. The hostel is a bit far from tourist attractions, but is right beside a plaza with lots of food options. I had a great time.
Basil was friendly and helpful. Only 2 bathrooms for all the guests. Close to the airport.
Very nice place loads of travellers, Basel the owner is such a nice guy, very friendly welcoming & his friends hang out here so nice way to interact with the locals, location was good loads of eateries, cafes, the facilities were a let down, 2 bathrooms across the whole place, bed were okay, rooms not too crowded like some places, deffo would return here !
Great place to meet backpackers!
