Our stay at this hostel was not the best. When we checked-in, the staff greeted us with a long talk about what will happen if we damage anything. This led us to photograph every corner of the rooms. The experience at Clown and Bard Hostel was extremely negative. Upon arrival, the owner spoke to us rudely and even threatened to call the police if we made any noise. Our room was on what was labeled the 4th floor, but due to the building’s layout it felt more like the 8th, making access with luggage very difficult. The room itself was in unacceptable condition, with stains on the walls that appeared to be vomit and other marks. The bathroom was filthy—easily the dirtiest we have ever seen...

I had a very negative experience at the Clown and Bard Hostel. From the moment we arrived, the owner was rude and unwelcoming. Instead of greeting us properly, they immediately came across as passive-aggressive and continued behaving that way throughout our stay. We were a school group, and we were actually threatened that the police would be called on us if we made any noise at all, which felt completely unnecessary and intimidating. This hostel is a joke. We found the clowns but still looking for the bards. I mean, I traveled a lot over the last 20 years and even spent some time long-term in hostel during COVID lockdowns, with less than ideal last minute solution but still Clown and Bard is the worst hostel I ever stayed at. We booked for a month or so, a private bedroom for my friend and I to share to be able to hunt for our flat while already in Prague (new expat in Czechia). Disappointing first experience in the Czech My flight was arriving around 21-22:00, so I booked this place specifically because the reservation app said “24-hour reception.” When I arrived, the door was locked, the bell didn’t work, and no staff was there. After finding a phone number and calling, two people showed up with a very annoyed attitude and demanded an extra late check-in fee, saying they had to “wake up and come here,” and refused to give me the key unless I paid. “Walk-in guest for one night. Assigned an occupied and dirty bed. When I questioned it, the owner publicly insulted me and threatened police before checking the system. I did not sleep in the bed and was denied a refund. Very unprofessional and unsafe experience.”

BED BUGS. This is one of the worst hostels I've stayed in. There's an unsettling ambience and it's not good for socialising. A mixed smell of weed and sewer. It was very dirty under the beds and other places they don't expect you to look. I woke up with bed bug bites after my first night, and the manager and whole staff took it seriously enough to evacuate my bed, but not enough to wash my clothes and disinfect or freeze my belongings so I could continue my travel in another hostel. Se questa recensione potesse servire a fare fallire questo ostello sarei contento di scriverla, personale pessimo, pulizia inesistente, letti scomodissimi, cambio lenzuola mai effettuato, un piano cottura, un wc e una doccia per 9 persone, ingestibile, anche il quartiere fa abbastanza ribrezzo è pieno di tossici e criminali, anche se il prezzo è basso non ne vale la pena, esperienza da ricordare in negativo.

It’s not necessarily a bad place to stay but it does smell really bad. The showers have mold and no hooks, and the “kitchen” areas are lacking. I think C&B could be a really great hostel it just needs some TLC and general maintenance. The bar area is fine but we wished there was a chill common area like more of a living room. The beds were comfortable. The guy who checked us in was nice. We wouldn’t stay again.

The hostel is well used and popular. It’s in good condition. The staff are helpful, I would say that 150czk for a Coke Zero was rather steep but apart from that I was very satisfied with the stay.

“Who is Lhicsi”

We traveled with a large group of youngsters. We were only given 2 keys for rooms with 6 people, which is very annoying and impractical as different people have different desires in Prague, and at least 6 keys should be there in the case 6 individuals book the beds. Resulted in multiple people having to wait 30+ minutes to enter the room for someone with a key to turn up. Location wise it is not bad, close to the tram and walking distance to metro. Wonderful staff, great vibes, perfect location. It’s close to the bus/train station and in a very cute area close to an awesome park (def head over there to watch the sunset if you can). Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Very friendly staff, they made me feel safe and welcomed. They had trivia nights and live music. Definitely worth the price!

the hostel was fine and the location was okay aswell, the only thing that bothered me were the lack of showers and restrooms available for the dorms. and also the bathroom door has kind of a gap where you can pretty much see into the bathroom which just made me uncomfortable. the staff was really nice though.

I think the staff was pretty nice and the bed and room were in general clean. But the Bathrooms on my floor (1st) were bad. And I don’t mean that because of the small space but it was just dirty. Why don’t you put a lid on the soap dispenser, so hair and dirt won’t get in the SOAP which is what you clean your hands with? Why don’t you get a trash bin with a lid or install a little wall shelf to put down toiletry bags? Those things aren’t expensive and massively change the experience

We stayed for four nights with a private room and shared bathroom. The room and bathroom were pretty clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is great, just outside of the city center and near the tram. I would stay here again

I would stay here again. I met some cool people here. Clean room, lockers, and just overall chill vibes.

Das Hostel hat für mich seinen Zweck erfüllt, es hat eine einfache Standardausstattung Was ich vermisst habe, an den Betten noch eine Ablagefläche/Ablagebereich und ein eigenes kleines Licht sowie eine eigene Steckdose pro Bett Lage ist super ca 10 Minuten bis zum Fernsehturm und ca 20 Minuten bis zur City Prag1

I rate my stay at the hostel very positive. Granted, there weren't any luxuries, but it was really okay. The room was clean, the only downside was that the bathroom was very hot, but it was bearable. The bald man on staff was very handsome 😇

You know, you should read this. There were three of us, it was almost evening and it was starting to rain, suddenly we got a great offer on the website to book a room in this hotel. We arrived there, it took a while to clarify the data, but the bartender who was there was always funny and encouraged us.
