They don't let you change your dates

I am not allowed enough characters in one review to explain how bad this place is, it’s dirty, staff are dismal and the atmosphere simply isn’t there, this is not a social hostel and is clearly all about profit with very limited facilities. On my arrival I couldn’t check in as I was not sent an email for the code that unlocks the key box so I was stuck outside for over 2 hours in the cold. After this I had to change rooms because it was simply dirty, stains on the bed and hair everywhere!

Worst YHA.

this is not a YHA, it's been brought by Haka Lodge who are undertaking substantial development and have closed all facilities besides one small kitchen and dining area. No games room, laundry, large kitchen as the advert states.

Two days before arriving, I messaged the hostel on their online chat to let them know I would not be checking in until around 1am and asked for instructions on how to access my room. I received no reply. I then called on the morning of my arrival and again explained that I would be arriving at around 1am. I was told that out-of-hours check-in instructions would be emailed to me....

Stayed on the top floor - bathrooms were always dirty and didn’t seem like they were cleaned. Paper towels were never full. Drains smelt really bad. Stayed in a double twin room - virtually no room to move and no hanging space for towels etc. Really wouldn’t stay again which is a shame as we LOVED Wellington.

No atmosphere. Wouldn’t refund me when I accidentally booked the wrong dates despite me emailing within 2 minutes of booking. Not as good as Haka house in Queenstown

The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. They didn't know how to do anything beyond the bare minimum, and even then, they weren't polite. The kitchen was outdated and not up to Haka House standards. With many groups, the common areas can become very noisy, making it uncomfortable for solo travelers. The toilets and shower were very small. This was the worst Haka House I've ever stayed in, which is a shame because the others are very good.

Typical Haka House - while it looks modern and chic in listing photos, in reality the common facilities (bathrooms and kitchen) are quite dirty and there are limited amenities (no tea/coffee, limited hair dryers). The kitchen was so unhygienic I was scared to eat off the plates or use the cups. They provide just a limited amount of tea towels for the entire building for dish drying, etc and they hang there filthy all day. Every other hostel provides a clean stack and bin for dirty towels.

Comfortable place to stay with friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to Mr. Andrew (if we got his name right) for helping us when our car got towed due to overtime parking. He helped us contact the towing company and council to find our car. Really appreciate his kindness and support. Thank you Haka House!

Very large hostel - It has everything what you need and is quite comfortable. From a social perspective it was sometimes hard to connect with others, as the size is so large and people tend to stay anonymous or for themselves.

Really great hostel in a great location. Though, the 6 bed rooms were a bit cramped, especially with everyone’s bags, not that much floor space. Huge kitchen though, which was great and lots of dining space!

Very nice rooms and kitchen area. Kitchen even had a dishwasher!! Not a super social vibe but it was a very cozy stay.

Super Küche, Lage gut und relativ zentral.

Insgesamt eine gute Unterkunft - sehr funktional ausgestattet - könnte hier & da ein bisschen gründlicher gereinigt werden. Aber insgesamt ein gutes Hostel :)

Chyba we wszystkich Hostelach Haka drzwi od pokoi zamykają się automatycznie z głośnym trzaskiem, budząc wszystkich w pokoju i sąsiednich pokojach też. Brak wcześniejszych informacji o wejściu do Hostelu,a bez internetu nie sposób.

Very good hostel, staf was friendly, location is near the center, good kitchen. Very good for the price. the only "problem" is the car park in Wellington but the staff help you to found a solution for it

The place was very clean. A shower drain was clogged. I emailed staff about it and it was fixed right away. However there is only 2 toilets & showers for 50+ people on each floor. The vibe is also very solitary because all tables are far appart. Not a very social experience.

Location is good, nice and center. Parking is free on the street at night. Staff is friendly and helpful. Laundry easy and with a card, buy or bring your own detergent. Rooms were good but basic. And like all haka houses: hard to make friends. No social atmosphere.

If you want some sort of privacy, understandable. Other than that, horrible place. Even check-in through a computer.. whole social aspect of a hostel is gone. Also, two toilets and two showers (per gender) for a whole floor is insane.

The quad female room was an ensuite was great and this is one of my favorite hostel kitchens I've experienced - tons of storage across the pantry, fridges, and freezers, and plenty of pots, pans, and dishes to go around even during the busiest moments. Tons of seating across the different communal zones (though more outlets in the main area would be great) and laundry room was great as well. Stayed for almost 2 weeks and would most definitely return!

Clean, great location and nice communal areas. I liked that the dining area has mood lighting. Our 6 bed dorm had great views, was spacious and clean with a decent en suite.

Great location, easy walk into the town centre. Also ideal for pick up / drop off by the kiwi experience buses. Rooms were clean with plug sockets, lights and curtains by each bed. Minimal floor space and lockers for storage, but still manageable. Clean bathrooms and kitchen. Overall a nice stay!

Correct mais les chambres privées sont vraiment minuscules et les salles de bain communes ne sont pas très propres

The location is amazing and the staff are really helpful and friendly. I will most likely book here again when I come back to Wellington
