I don’t really understand the reviews of this hostel, it’s a completely mess The beds are very small, uncomfortable, the blankets simply disgusting (they also change a small sheets) The location is the worst part, you are +30 mins away from the part of the town with better atmosphere They don’t even have tap water to drink, you needed to buy your own (first time in my life I see this) Not 24/7 security, all the doors open

Good about this hostel is the sufficient amount of bathrooms if its fully booked. Its a nice okace to hang out and it onky a few meters from a beach and a supermarket is nearby as well. However, the whole place looks very old and needs some maintainance. Would also have liked a decent blanket for the chilly night. couks bearly breathe because if the dust mites in the bed as well.

Had a good stay there, long-stay people were a bit awkward and sometimes very noisy but in total okey. Staff was great!

Had a fabulous stay and the people are awesome, will definitely pop in again 😀

Pros: - Many common areas to socialize. - Clean and friendly staff. Cons: - It is located quite far from main beach (around 35min walk). - No door in the dorm I stayed. - No sockets to charge things in upper bed. - Beds are even smaller than normal hostel beds.

Very quiet place, nice atmosphere, nice staff, a little far from the city center (it takes a car or taxi), but attached to the beach. I recommend it to everyone.

Ótimo hostel, ótima localização

One of my favourite Hostels so far. Maybe the mattress was not the best anymore, but the vibe and people there balanced that out completely. Thank you so much!!

Very friendly and helpful staff! There were not enough lockers in the dorms, but the manager made sure to find a solution. The location is 30min on foot from the surfers village/schools and main surfing spot.

Volunteers were great and made the place feel like home. The nightly campfires are really nice, it’s a great way to bond! Location is super convenient as it’s near major grocery stores, restaurants, and super tubes

Unglaublich gemütliches Hostel mit einem sehr schönen Gemeinschaftsbereich und toller Küche. Die Zimmer waren sehr einfach gehalten, aber sauber und insgesamt ok 🙂

Gemütliches Hostel in Guter Lage. Ich wurde sofort super in die Gruppe integriert und mit zum gemeinsamem Essen und anschließendem Filmeabend genommen. Danke für den tollen Aufenthalt! Ich würde das Hostel jederzeit sofort weiterempfehlen. ;)

Das beste Hostel auf der Garden Route! Es hatte richtigen Hostelvibe & war sehr gemütlich Alles war perfekt!!!!! :))

Ubuntu was alright. Not too much people, but it was low season. Two minor remarks: 1) the staff starts working around 6 h in the morning with music next to our room: not ideal, 2) would be cool if we could get beers after 8 pm.

Great hostel and great people. It has everything you need and the atmosphere is just amazing. We loved it :)

Best hostel in terms of good vibes i’ve ever been. The volunteers and Kiera really made you feel at home. If Kiera makes dinner it’s awesome. Braai were lots of fun with everyone. It’s all about surfing which is great. Walk to the surf village is about 25 min. But if you’re a good surfer the good spots are walking distance (supertubes and point). Hanging around in one of the couches and movie night is also happening. Place is secure. Grocery and laundy close by Only downside was the mat...

Loved Ubuntu, so much that I came back for two more nights. A cosey hostel, and the perfect location for surfing in J Bay. Enjoyed hanging out with everyone there. Jonny, Cherkanah, Eva and Lovis kept the place running really well, and I enjoyed hanging out with Greg! Cheers Ubuntu. 🍻🏄‍♂️🇿🇦
