The location is great, but the hostel is awefull. The showers are in the ground flour so you need to walk with your clothes and they are really dirty. The rooms are to small for the amount of people, so it really stinks and we couldn’t sleep because of a snoring guy. Don’t go here!

Most of the staff had a deep whooping cough and would hang out in the kitchen and vault loudly coughing up phlegm. However basic a hostel, the staff should be professional and mindful of the guests' health. Also, couples get priority on lower bunks, so if you are traveling alone you are designated to an upper bunk with no storage and a lunch box sized lockbox for valuables. UNSAFE FOR WOMEN. Staff allows men to enter the women-only dorms and male volunteers to enter without notice. No knocking or announcing themselves, they enter in the evening when the ladies are getting ready for bed, and say “policy” allows it. Men walking into the female only dorms multiple times after front desk was asked to stop letting that happen, bathrooms and showers filthy. Was promised a refund but I guess they lied about that cuz I never got it. Do not recommend ever. They dont care about security, male "volunteers" (illegal workers not being paid) are able to access female only dorms during the night, despite female "volunteers" also being "employed".

my foods and toiletries were stolen

Location is all this place has. The bunk setup was a disaster. Showers smelled like sewage all 4 days I was there. Beds were wobbly and made lost of noise along with the hot rooms made for a terrible nights rest. I wouldn’t repeat this place.

The reviews on this hostel are confusing as they don't reflect what the hostel is actually like - makes me wonder who is writing those reviews!! Flies in my room, room was way too hot, staff brought in a fan and it didn't make much difference. Only three showers for females, showers were dirty. No night lights by each bed, which I have come to expect at every hostel I've been to. It's a shame as the location is great. But paying a cheap price shouldn't mean I have to stay somewhere unclean.

Old, run down, depressing hostel in need of renovation. Lots of stairs, no elevator. One tiny, filthy bathroom on each floor, showers in basement. Only 3 women showers for entire hostel. No bed light, no curtains, very small lockers in bedroom, no lockers for backpacks or carry ons. Hard, uncomfortable mattress, old, faded linen, flat pillow. Noisy street traffic until 2am. Hot, little ventilation rooms. Stay elsewhere.

The high review rating this place has really threw me off because this place was really shabby and really dirty. There were cockroaches next to my bed in the morning, the bathrooms were dirty. They cleaned them on a surface level with a mop but the place is etched with dirt. I only had one night here but if I had two I would have moved. Wouldn't recommend. Also how many people have to complain about the old worn out pillows on here lol I had to sleep with my coat as my pillow because they're not...

My partner and i got given a really bad room with a group of male workers atleast 8 of them i know this cant be helped by the staff but they were fighting all night in and out of the room till 6am, coming in and out with bruised and swollen faces and blood everywhere even ended up on the door handle. if i wasnt with my partner i would've left as i felt very unsafe and we couldnt wait to leave for our flight.

perfect place for to stay in bath. close to parking, town center, shops and bar.

best hostel experience i’ve ever had

I had such a great time at my short stay at bath backpackers. They have really nice communal rooms and it’s a great place to make friends. Very close to walking tours and the city center. Would for sure visit again.

Stayed for three nights on a two week tour of the UK with my mum. It was the cleanest of the four hostels we stayed at and had the best showers by far. Best of all, they have a group chat for events, food being offered and tips when you're stuck. The owners brought a group of 6 of us out to their favorite pup. Volunteers are all great too. Much love from Canada.

Stayed here a few times now, always such a lovely welcome. The staff are all really great. It's always clean and everyone is super friendly. Such a lovely place!

Amazing atmosphere and location! My only comment would be that there is no curtain for more privacy when sleeping .

My stay was good, I only stayed for a night and staff were really friendly and approachable. I’m quite disappointed that the pillow I had was probably not clean as I have a caught a fungal infection on my ears that has only gotten worse since. Very upset about the infection as it indicates that the pillow was not clean. The facility was quite clean otherwise.

Cheap accommodation

Great location in a secure building. Rooms were basic and didn’t have bag lockers, only small lockers. Common areas were really good with a nice vibe.

A nice hostel in a cool old building, right in the middle of the city with everything nearby.

This place should be up there with the other Bath attractions, what a beautiful place to stay at. The staff were very helpful and calm even with many people coming and going. The location is superb, right next to the centre and lots of activities around. Absolutely worth the money (cheap as well). Highly recommended.

Wonderful location easy walking distance to the train station and many attractions, very clean, dorms and kitchens were nice and very friendly staff. Clean bathrooms and showers and it didn’t feel too crowded

Absolutely great location, very helpful and responsible staffs here and the kitchen and vaults are sick!!!!!! Couldn’t ever find a kitchen better than this ngl. And the price is relatively low than other places around here. Also plenty of books to borrow from the shelves if you like:)

Um dos melhores hosteis que já fiquei! Os espacos comuns soa muito legais, tem um ótimo espaco pra trabalhar e relaxar, com jogos e coisas artísticas. Banheiros e cozinha limpos e organizados. Quarto bem ventilado. A única coisa que senti falta foi cortina nas camas e uma luz de cabeceira individual.

Such a cute hostel! Decor was adorable and the staff was so sweet.

Friendly and helpful staff created a welcoming atmosphere from the start. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shared spaces—especially the common area—made it easy to relax and meet other travelers. The location was convenient, with easy access to transport and nearby attractions. While there was occasional noise and some crowding in shared areas, the overall experience was enjoyable and good value for a stay.
