MEININGER Salzburg City Center

The laundry machine was broken. Luggage storage costs extra and anybody can walk in the room and steal it. Check in isn’t until 3pm and there’s no option for early check in, even though it’s a quiet time of year and the cleaners wake you up at 9am to clean the rooms. It’s just an excuse and laziness. Overall it’s a decent place but I was bit by bed bugs I sent the hostal an email about it and they didn’t respond. If you have sensitive skin I wouldn’t recommend. It’s also more like a Hotel than a Hostal.

First of all, I don't think you can call it City Center when it's so far away from the city center. Then when we arrived and checked in, we found out AFTER we paid and signed that my husband and I were not allowed to sleep in the same room because it was fully booked. My husband and I have no problem sleeping in a hostel and sharing a room with others. But I would never have booked the beds if I had known from the beginning that we would not be allowed to share a room.

Crowded, smelly and looked like a movie theatre in a bad way. Got locked inside the stairwell 🙄 Would not recommend.

Not a typical Meininger hostel—more like a budget hotel with a wide age range of guests, some seemingly long-term. Location is inconvenient; 15-min bus to the Old Town. We booked 2 beds in a 6-bed dorm but got a 4-bed with two elderly guests who made us uncomfortable, so we paid €100 extra for a private room. Tiny, poorly equipped kitchen. Staff was okay, but unaccommodating. Overall disappointing—not worth €190, and I wouldn’t return.

Since I couldn't leave for this trip, I couldn't stay at this hostel, so I actually can't give a rating.

The hostel is definitely not in the city center- it’s a 15-20 minute bus ride or 25-30 min walk. Upon checking in the staff didn’t explain anything. The shower in my room didn’t drain. Other women in the room had previously requested a fix, but when I got there it was not fixed. I asked the staff downstairs three times in my stay to have it fixed, and each time they said they would let someone know but it never got fixed. It was pretty gross because it was shared among six people.

De keuken was zeer klein, locatie is 30min wandelen van de stad, de netheid was ver te zoeken, in de chill-ruimte lag er veel vuil op de grond. Badkamer was zeer klein en er was maar 1 toilet in een kamer voor 9 personen

A cozinha estava nojenta e o espaço era demasiado pequeno para o número de hospedes. Deveria ser feita uma manutencao/limpeza da cozinha pelos funcionarios do hostel

Il s’agit d’un hôtel, vous n’y retrouverez pas l’ambiance d’un hostel type backpack. L’établissement accueille des enfants en groupe scolaire et ceux-ci n’ont pas été surveillés durant toute la journée de mon voyage. Ils sont très bruyants et ne respecte pas le matériel. La cuisine est beaucoup trop petite et les ustensiles sont insuffisants. Elle n’était pas propre même si l’équipement reste moderne… Le ticket mobilité gratuit a été apprécié. Établissement q...

Great place & clean dorms but awful location. The buses were so unreliable - never came on time.

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed in a private room for 2 and were pleasantly surprised with how nice the room was. We even had a wonderful view from our balcony of the hills. Everything was very clean and nicely presented. The staff was very kind and friendly as well. We used the free public transportation pass to get around and it was perfect. A great place to stay especially for a weekend trip!

Bit of a stretch calling this a hostel. Wasnt equipped for travellers and was more equipped for overnight buisness trips. The kitchen was one small room for the whole hostel, which was never clean, not well equipped and far too small for the size of the building. The room had no storage for large baggage or any lockers, and there were no communal shower areas. The hostel itself was on the outskirts of salzburg on the back of a shopping mall. Not for backpackers, but for a cheap hotel option.

Great and clean rooms and bathroom. Good location, shops and things to do around and easily accessible transport links for all over the city. Only down side is the shared kitchen. Unfortunately, not all guests cleaned up after themselves and washed up in the kitchen making it a less enjoyable experience. Additionally there weren’t many utensils, there was only one sharp kitchen knife and tiny chopping board for the whole kitchen. Despite this, great stay overall. Thank you!

​El hostel es excelente, especialmente por lo impecable que está todo. La limpieza es de destacar y la seguridad te da una tranquilidad total. Lo mejor de todo es la cocina: está equipadísima, ideal si buscás cocinarte algo bien. En cuanto a la ubicación, aunque no está en pleno centro, es súper cómoda porque podés moverte a todos lados caminando o con el transporte público que pasa cerca. ¡Muy recomendado!

The breakfast is not worth paying for, they were out of everything despite having 2 hours left during the breakfast period. The facilities were gross and the bathroom smelled purely like urine.

We weren’t informed about the free travel when we checked in even though I made it very clear we intended to travel around a lot. Luckily checked my emails. Everything was very clean. My bed was remade one day early and all the contents were taken. I reported it but nobody gave me my items.

Builders were in on our two day visit. Even in the dining area during breakfast & in the hall of our corridor . Staff were nice but one customer who sat in the lounge all day & night was a complete monster. It wasn't a good experience

Sehr viel sauberer als das A&O Hostel am Hauptbahnhof. Hier wird täglich gereinigt! Das Personal und Team ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Vielen Dank an die Reinigungskräfte für die tolle Arbeit. Ich werde nur noch hier her kommen, auch wenn man ein Stück vom Bahnhof weg ist.

even though the place wasn't that bad. I asked for the transportation card and they didn't give it to me, and it's supposed to be compulsory. Also, I had to share the room with a person who snored like he hadn't leant how to breath and since the bed hadn't any type of separation (like a curtain) there was nowhere to scape that. Also, I had never met in a hostel people more disrespectful. They where turning the lights late at night or early in the morning, letting the bathroom door open, etc

One of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever stayed in! Just beware the area is a little far from city center but is quiet.

Evil dutch girl told me off for telling another person off for outrageously loud snoring - and left her dirty socks on my suitcase

This is a genuinely subpar hostel it's not special in any way whatsoever but what warrants this bad review is how the staff/rules impacted our stay negatively. We've had two terrible snorers in the room and another girl who literally screamed throughout the night, so it was impossible to get any sleep and when we asked reception to maybe change the room or even PAY to get an upgrade out self's they refused and told us it's literally impossible. Even without this incident it's still bad tho.

A little bit far from city center but very convenient location with public transportation stops and big supermarket nearby! Well equipped and clean!

La habitación estaba ocupada por gente instalada que vivían en el hostel de normal. Uno que venía todos los días a las cuatro o cinco de la mañana en malas condiciones. Una de nuestras camas estaba usada y sucia y la única solución que se nos dio fue darnos sábanas limpias y encargarnos nosotros de todo lo demás. Pedimos cambiar de habitación por el mal ambiente y no se nos dio la opción. Nos tuvimos que cambiar a otra habitación más pequeña teniendo que pagar la diferencia,no bara...

Room was lovely with a nice view and always clean, 1 staff member was rude to us on arrival but the other was kind. a few people sleeping in the stairwells who were kicked out, 40 min walk from city center wasn’t too bad but did often need to tram.

Black mold in the shower but everything else was great
