Blanco Hostel@Lanta

Asked to leave my passport as a deposit just to check in, not for a motorbike rental, simply to stay. I've traveled to 20+ countries and never encountered this. When I asked for a cash alternative, staff asked for 2000 baht, far above the 100–200 baht typical of most hostels. When I pushed back, the attitude turned unfriendly and dismissive. Plenty of other options in Koh Lanta. choose one of those instead!

Erg onaardig personeel, komen afspraken niet na en zijn onbeschoft. Lopen weg midden in gesprekken/ negeren je. Daarnaast verplicht om paspoort af te geven of 2000 bath te geven als borg, goed om te weten.

They didnt allow me to do the check in cause they run out of electricity (the whole building was in dark) and after one hour waiting till it comes back (never came back) they refused to cancell my booking and charged a full stay even when I told them I will leave cause they werent providing me any sollution. Really nice and professional. If you dont know how to act when there is an axternal issue just dont run a bussines.

Very hot during the day and so many rules. It’s a no from me!

This is definitely a party hostel, don’t believe their description as a social hostel!! Music in the bar is okay of course and this was mentioned beforehand. But I didn’t sign up for loud, inconsiderate, drunk and vomiting people in my dorm. Bathroom was dirty and moldy. Lady at reception was very unfriendly and unwilling to assist me. I left after one night but had to pay for my full stay. Unfortunately would not recommend.

staff were incredibly unaccommodating. They insisted on holding our passports which thai law asks that all tourists hold passports on person for proof of identification, given this I said that was absolutely not happening. Rudely i was told that this was an inconvenience and to pay a large deposit, any other hostel I've stayed on simply takes a copy of the passport and a small deposit. They would not put on the AC while I was bed sick with food poisoning. Staff ruined the experience.

Mon ami et moi avons passé deux nuits a l’Hostel Blanco. Nous avons payé lors de notre arrivée la somme correspondante aux deux nuits et le joue de notre départ nous avons été surpris de devoir repayer à nouveau pour récuperer nos passeports, sois disant que l’on avait pas reglé. Curieux comme façon de proceder, étant donné que notre navette nous attendait à 7h du matin nous n’avons pas lutté et avons repayé. C’est inadmissible.

Very good hostel with very social atmosphere and clean rooms however I think it is audacious that you need to pay for evening activities. Never have I seen this in my 5 months of travel

Doe het niet. Het personeel kijkt je weg en er hangt een bijzonder negatieve sfeer. Dat begon al toen ik mijn paspoort niet wilde afgeven. Je bent niet welkom.

The person at the reception was so unpleasant treating both yourself and your passport (as they keep it as caution) like sh*t.

Bedding is not changed between guests. I saw the cleaners just brushing off used sheets. Rooms aren't cleaned often enough especially the bathroom, shoes aren't allowed in the rooms but as the hostel is next to the beach floors are full of sand. Air-conditioning is off from 11:00-18:00 so you can't really take a nap. Taxis booked from hostel are expensive and paid per person. Location is good. Pool and beach are good. Receptionist is grumpy. Passport expected as deposit which is weird.

Great Hostel! Staff made it very enjoyable - shout out to Tim for helping me with onward travels!

Hostel layout is very nice and it has a good social area with fun events going on.

Blanco is the best hostel in Koh Lanta! Definitely best place to meet people. Would be 5 stars if the aircon could be on a little earlier in the afternoon as it is turned off 11am - 6pm and would love some curtains.

Enjoyed my stay at this hostel up there with the best I’ve been to, there is a pool, a pool table and it’s located right next to the beach. All the staff are really welcoming (shoutout to billie) and there are social events every day although the pub crawl consists of about 3 bars. Didn’t find the rooms the most comfortable to sleep but nothing bad to say apart from that.

didn’t love the stay here. The beds were some of the worst I’ve slept on while travelling with very thin sheets to cover during the night which when the ac is blasting it can be very cold. However the AC is only on at night and there is no where to escape the heat during the day. Showers were not that clean, staff were nice, reps okay however there is no security on during the night to report to There was an incident where a large group above my room were making loads of noise for an hour at...

Im großen und Ganzen ist es da sehr gut. Aber wenn man Wert auf Schlaf legt ist man da an der falschen Stelle. Die Matratzen sind hart wie Stein, die Betten bewegen sich bei jeder Bewegung und es gibt keine Vorhänge. Der Stauraum ist auch nur auf unter dem Bett begrenzt, also keine haken oder ähnliches. Ich habe früher ausgecheckt, weil es echt nicht auszuhalten war in den Zimmer. Wenn einem das Zimmer egal ist, ist das Hostel Top.

We met so many nice people here, but the hostel itself was not it. One of our showers didn't work, and the bathroom doors were placed so that they couldn't be opened the same time or if someone was by the sink. There was no curtains for the beds, and the rooms weren't. Sunbeds by the pool was moldy and dirty, the pool deck was overheated and burned my through the towel. No AC during the day at all. Wouldn’t stay here again even tho the events were fun.

The hostel is really nice. If you want something social then it’s definitely the place to go to. I just think it’s a Little Bit overpriced and then you have to pay if you want to join the evening stuff… props to billy she is the best volunteer!! She was so talkative and was so kind.

Party hostel vibes. Very social but the crowd is quite young. No curtains on the bed and ensuite facilities are very basic. Staff are very helpful and the reps were good. They offer a free moped lesson. Great location, right on the beach.

Absolutely loved loved loved my stay at Blanco and kept extending! Great social events every single night, large common area (pool!!), bike lessons, quick access to the beach, and restaurant at hostel if you don’t feel like going out. Shout out to Aaron and Dean for making the stay incredible.

A brilliant hostel! They have social events nearly every day which creates a great atmosphere and opportunity for everyone to meet new people. Facilities are great. My only criticism is that the beds were a bit too hard.

Me and my friend had a great time our only "complaint" woyld be that it was sometimes on the more pricey side (such as activities)

Alles super: Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Gut ausgestattete Zimmer mit eigenem Schließfach. Tolle Chillout-Bereiche mit Hängematten. Nur 2 Minuten zum Strand und zum 7-Eleven. Tägliche Reinigung und günstige Aktivitäten (u. a. Motorradunterricht). Nach einer Quallenberührung wurde sofort geholfen (Essig). Klimaanlage läuft nachts durchgehend, daher teils kühl. Abends oft Partystimmung – Ohrstöpsel und Schlafmaske empfehlenswert.
