Aurora Hostel

Die Unterkunft hat mir leider gar nicht gefallen. Sie ist nur über einen kleinen Weg abseits der Hauptstraße zu erreichen und ich habe mich dort als Solo female traveller leider nicht sicher gefühlt im dunklen hin zu laufen. Dann gibt es keine Türen im Dorm, die Matratzen sind super dünn und es ist super schwierig überhaupt in die oberen Betten zu kommen. My friend loved this place, but it wasn’t for me. It’s in a good location and it’s very quiet and peaceful during the day. The atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back. I didn’t find it very social, but if you’re wanting somewhere to just relax this might be ok for you. I didn’t think the property was very clean and the toilet bin was overflowing. Mattress and pillows pretty thin, so you can feel the wood underneath. There was no ac, windows or doors in my dorm so I was bitten a lot

Bei uns waren Würmer im Bad und auch sonst war es nicht sehr sauber Es gab keine Türe zum Schlafdorm, was doch etwas komisch war, zumal ein Mitarbeiter nachts im kleinen Eingangsbereich auf einer Matratze schläft. Wir sind nachts von einer Party heim gekommen und fast über ihn gestolpert Auserdem kamen wir abends um 9Uhr an und unsere Betten waren nicht bezogen Bisschen außerhalb auch Aber das andere Haus vom Hostel sah besser aus, vermutlich auch Glückssache wo man landet… Netter Gas...

The location of the hostel is the USP. It has something similar to Sigiriya. The staff is friendly and helpful overall. The beds of the dorms are horrible though, super thin. If you want to use the bathroom, you'll have to deal with a lot of bugs and insects crawling and flying around you. I extended for several nights because i really liked the garden and the people who stayed as well. Unfortunately the owner kicked me outevent ually ecause of a double booking.

I booked this hostel but when I arrived I did not feel comfortable to stay there. The staff were super friendly and lovely, however unfortunately the rooms were quite old and dirty, I saw the mattress and pillows without sheet on and they were black with dirt or mould. The toilet wasn’t clean and the kitchen area was not clean either. The location is also in a little bit of a strange area which I did not fancy staying in.

The hostel was nice... But not for me. - location: back streets, friendly locals, nature and gardens... But that also mean at night walking back in the darkness, easy to get lost, lots of animals and insects, and being in nature doesn't mean silence, the sounds of traffic are replaced with sounds of animals - I didn't get bottom bunk bed as requested and promised, but ok - when I arrived the locker wasn't available. It was sorted out in the evening, but till then my bags where on the floor (and ...

Staff are lovely and the outdoor garden is really nice but the rooms are not clean, very dark and grimy no sunlight even at night there is only one very dim lightbulb,I felt extremely claustrophobic,The photos of the bed/room are not what you get. Location is a 10 min walk to town but the roads are super dark as it’s not a busy street so as a solo female I didn’t feel safe. This is a different kind of hostel that only has 8 beds and because of this it’s very intimate. A lot of people here go for a long stay and really get to know each other. It’s not a party hostel and it’s very chill. Shower is outside in the garden.

We had a great stay at Aurora. The location is great, it’s so peaceful next to the river and surrounded by greenery. But only 5 mins walk to the beach and 10 minutes into town. Saranga was a great host, really chilled but friendly and helpful and always around. We had a private room which was spacious, clean and cool. The common area is great to chill and there was always people there to chat with in the evening. Saranga is building AC dorms and improving the common area which is exciting.

Great Hostel with great staff and the host Saranga is very nice and helpful! I had a private and it was super clean and calm. Definetely more on the quiet side but I was there off-season. If you're looking for a nice and quiet hostel near Weligama Beach this is it!

Saranga was an amazing host & super friendly. The private rooms are very new and clean, very relaxing atmosphere by the river.

The private room is perfect. Best stay so far in Sri Lanka. It is nice and quiet, and yet only a 5-minute walk to the beach.

Amazing stay in Weligama! The hostel is surrounded by beautiful nature so it feels really peaceful and relaxing, but is still close to everything. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming and it’s easy to meet people. Feels like home, you won’t want to leave.

It’s a nice place to chill and a good location for that price. Unfortunately no WiFi and the facilities are very „minimalistic“.

Die beste Zeit hatten wir bei Saranga im Hostel. 5-10 min vom Surferstrand entfernt. Wir wohnten im Privatzimmer, welches absolut den Bildern gleichsteht, sogar noch schöner ist. Ein Schnapper für dieses Zimmer. Saranga hat auf seinem Grundstück eine Wohlfühloase erschaffen und steckt sehr viel Liebe in all seine Vorhaben. Wenn ihr eher einen ruhigeren Platz sucht und nicht unbedingt ein totales Surfer-Party-Hostel seid ihr hier perfekt aufgehoben.

Great hostel, such a nice chilled but social vibe

Very nice hostel with a chill vibe. It’s within walking distance of the beach but still far enough from the noise, which makes it perfect for relaxing. The hammock by the lake and the garden area were lovely too

i loved my stay at aurora hostel. perfect location a short walking distance from the weligama beach, but situated away from the busy street next to the water. it feels like you're at a nature retreat. the host made incredible food and the dogs were so cute! the first night i was the only guest, but the second night the dorm was completely full so the atmosphere is social depending on who is staying.

I had a great time at Aurora Hostel. Always kept extending my stay. Loved the Garden and the 5-10min walk to the beach was good. The people were really kind and the dogs super lovely. It’s a beautiful place to get stuck and enjoy Weligama city and its nature. Good place to connect with people as well (:

We stayed for a week in the private room, which was beautiful and very spaceous. There is a great beautiful garden, youre surrounded by nature and all kinds of animals. The yoga was a little hard to arrange but its possible. The chill area is great to meet people (and musquitos so bring spray!). Dont expect too much from the wifi. Big credits to the chef for the great food and his kindness. Also the dogs and cat hanging around make for a super chill vibe. Would come back for sure.

Prachtige plek in de natuur buiten de toeristische sferen van Weligama, maar op loopafstand van de kust. Dikke aanrader!
