Stay at Alice Springs Hotel

- As we walked into the room, there was a musty stale odor, which immediately triggered breathing difficulties do to allergies due to mildew. Within 20 minutes, checked out and they agreed to cancel at no charge yet that did not happen.

- Rundown and dirty hotel. How anyone can give a positive rating to this facility is beyond my comprhension. Suffice it to say that we booked and prepaid 2 nights, but left after the first night losing our money.

- When the shower was turned on it dripped water from the ceiling all over the bathroom. The cold water washer in the sink needed changingbas it was hard to stop the water dripping. Windowsill paint was flacking all the way along and dusty. Window looked on to narriw alleyway with dustbins and into windows of next building. Mattreases were tired.

- The staff member was unprofessional. When I politely asked if I could extend my stay, she spoke to me as if she was doing me a huge favour no greeting or courtesy at all. She clearly lacks training in customer interaction and basic manners. She mentioned the payment in a rude manner as if I wasn't capable of paying, despite me being polite the whole time. I was also very disappointed because she charged me an extra $38 for the sheet. There were just three tiny drops of blood due to a small wound on my leg, but she insisted the sheet couldn't be reused. It felt like she was looking for reasons to make things difficult rather than trying to help. Charging that much for something so minor seems completely unfair.

+ The hotel was clean and pleasant to be in. The room was nice with good sheets on the bed and a good bathroom.

- However it was impossible to sleep. The noise from people in town and staying in the hotel was impossible to block out. The noise from machines in the light court was constant.

- The pool was not what it looked on the pictures and the shower had no pressure. Didn't complain, as we were only there 1 night.

- The property was quite tired which wasn’t depicted in the site pictures, in the morning we found several cockroaches in the room, told staff who were pretty indifferent.

+ Staff fantastic and 24 hours reception. Easy to leave luggage in storage while we went on 6 day hike

+ The room was a good size, and the bed was fairly comfortable. The doors opened onto an area with tables and chairs and a grill for those who felt like cooking their own food. The restaurant was accessible through the car park and lasagna I had was delicious. The bartender also made me a drink he was unfamiliar with after I described it to him so that was a plus. :) The hotel was located across from a park with a nice walking path along the normally dry river. I had a couple of excursion/adventures planned and I really liked that this hotel was one of the venues that the tour companies would pick up at.

- Not really a dislike, but I did wish for a more comfortable chair in the room since there was room for one, but that's such a minor thing, it didn't take away from my stay.
