House of Nomad

+ We ended up not staying at this hotel after a less than satisfactory exchange with the staff prior to arrival where they requested bank details and insisted I sign a form that they did not send. After several inconclusive rounds of emails where they kept explaining why I needed to submit these forms for their bank and I kept reminding them I had not recieved the forms anyhow, I cancelled my booking an stayed elsewhere at the Tamarindo Bay Boutique hotel which was wonderful.!

+ The room was clean and the decor was modern. It also provided kitchen utensils so we were able to cook breakfast multiple days. The water took a while to get hot but once it did, we were able to take a nice shower to wash away the sweat and sand from the days activities. It was nice having a wash station once you entered the property. The resort is on a dirt road which was very muddy most days.

- There was construction being conducted at 07:30am on the property which made it extremely difficult to rest. In addition, there were multiple nights that we could not sleep because of the loud music that was coming from the music club located next door to the hotel. This was to no fault of the owners, however the manager should make future occupants aware of this. Also, the Wi-Fi and television did work in our room. We kept going to the front office to get it fix but they were not able to assist us. They told us that the issue was on our end but they were not able to tell us specifically what the issue was. We even used a WiFi booster in the room and the internet still did not work. There was an ant infestation in our room. The room was cleaned daily and we were careful not to leave food out. It was either refrigerated or closed in plastic baggies. I believe they came from under the door for a crack in the tile near the restroom. Finally, we scheduled with the hotel to provide us with transportation to the airport. The driver never showed up and we had to scramble to arrange transportation to the airport at the last minute. When I inquired as to why the transportation was running late, the manager (Erica) informed me that she did not know why. This was totally unacceptable. For the amount of money that we paid to stay at this location, it was not worth the stay. I extremely advise that you stay away from this property. It is not worth the expense.

+ An attempt to be a modern, cool, nomad property.

- Terrible customer service and poor management.

+ So quiet and relaxing, clean, modern. It is the perfect oasis.

+ The room was nice and spacious. Located well.

- I do not recommend staying here if you are planning on relaxing or using the facilities listed in the ad. There is constant construction happening immediately outside the rooms for up to 12 hours a day (even on weekends) and starting as early as 7am with power tools and yelling. Additionally, the large group of construction men constantly surrounding the pool and having visibility into our room meant we (2 young females) felt too uncomfortable to utilise the pool or even open our blinds. The construction workers even took up 80% of the parking spaces, leaving no spots for guests and forcing us to park illegally or pay. Room turndown occurs extremely late in the day (5pm) so if you need to return to your room to relax or prepare for dinner you have to wait for them to finish. There was no communication about this construction at any point during our booking or during our stay. We raised this with management at the end of our stay and were repeatedly refused any kind of compensation and reimbursement. We were told we should have raised it during the stay but reception was rarely attended during the times we were on site.

- Si estás pensando en reservar durante las próximas semanas o ya tienes reserva hecha, te recomendamos que la canceles. Actualmente están construyendo nuevas habitaciones, y desde temprano hasta las 6 de la tarde el ruido es constante. Lijadoras, radiales, música y gritos de los operarios… es imposible relajarse y descansar. El trato por parte de la persona de recepción es magnífico, pero se ve atada a las decisiones que toma la propiedad, limitándola a no poder dar solución alguna a la situación actual del hotel. A la hora de realizar la reserva deberían notificar la circunstancia actual, y como no lo hacen, al menos ofrecer la devolución del importe, ya que no recibes el servicio por el que has pagado. Lamentablemente una estancia muy desagradable

+ Staff very helpful

- The hotel is in the process of major building work. Starts at 7am every day except Sunday. No chance of relaxing by the pool. Up to 15 workers on site up to 10 hours per day. During the night high volume music from the venue next door.

+ The room itself was nice. The kitchen was well equiped and they had a refigerator. The room was big and clean.

- The hotel had building works which meant the whole day working noise and workers running up and down the pool outside my window. I didn’t feel comfortable to use the pool. The room was on the ground floor and they had only blinds that turned sideways but didn’t close properly. With the group of men outside I kept the blinds closed all day. Even with the windows having mirror foil one could see inside if cloudy and the bed was just in front of the window. The water kettle, toaster and filtered water was outside for all to share which was unconvenient. I left one day earlier because I didn’t feel comfortable there.

- No la pasé nada bien, fue muy desagradable, la que nos atendió coqueteo con mi novio, creo era la dueña, vestía inapropiadamente, no era de Costa Rica y luego se metió en nuestra habitación explicando cosas absurdas, sentí que invadió nuestro espacio. No lo recomiendo, no volvería a ir a ese lugar. Luego una mujer, empleada nos abrió el dormitorio, eso fue terrible, ya que nunca me sentí relajada y en privacidad.

+ House of Nomad tiene tanto aspectos positivos como negativos. Por un lado, la ubicación es excelente y las habitaciones están bien equipadas con camas grandes y cómodas, refrigeradora y cocina completa. Además, ofrecen café, sal, azúcar, aceite y artículos de baño.

- Actualmente House of Nomad se encuentra labores de construcción y remodelación. Desde muy temprano albañiles y trabajadores deambulan por pasillos e instalaciones con herramientas y materiales de construcción, generando excesivo ruido. La conexión de internet mediante wifi es muy deficiente y no permite conectarse adecuadamente. A pesar de que el hospedaje ofrece pantalla plana de TV, la misma no cuenta con señal de tv y sólo funciona con apps de pago. El excesivo ruido nocturno, generado por el lugar de eventos (TRÍO) que se ubica junto a House of Nomad, es molesto y no permite tener un ambiente apto para el descanso.

- - there were a lot of bugs in the pool while we were there. It wasn’t a biggie, but could be easily solved!

+ Great location, clean and comfortable!

+ Central location to beach and town. Very clean and secure. We were on the 2nd floor at the end and were able to see over the wall to trees and saw a group of 6 howler monkeys eat their way through around 5pm We stayed a week and there was no maid service, which we prefer. We did trade in towels a couple times. Induction cooktop and refrigerator was great to cook breakfast in the unit. Also had ice cube trays. We also appreciated having filtered water , microwave and toaster down by the pool for public use. Pool was cleaned daily (lots of leaves this time of year) except for Sunday. Staff was friendly.

- Not much shade, which when us northerners come in our winter is helpful. The umbrellas could use some updating to provide shade as they were ripped and the crank was broken.

+ L’emplacement au cœur de la ville et au calme, grande piscine pour faire des longueurs, les transats mis à disposition tout autour de la piscine. Chambre spacieuse et bien équipée! Personnel réactif et aux petits soins

- Le rapport qualité/ prix. Lorsque vous regardez dans le détail, je trouve que le nettoyage de la chambre est faite en surface. En arrivant, il y avait du sable dans le dressing. Le bâtiment semble abîmé, il y a des fissures dans le mur. Chambre mal assonorisée, vous entendez les clients du dessus.

+ Sehr schönes, grosses und modernes Appartement. Mit Küche. Viel Platz und Ablagefläche. Schöner Pool und genügend Liegestühle.

- Der Weg zur Unterkunft ist sehr schlecht. Man muss über Steine, Geröll und Löcher gehen, mit Sandalen oder Badeschuhen eine Herausforderung. Aber ich denke, dass da die Unterkunft keinen Einfluss hat und selber nichts machen kann. Dies müsste wahrscheinlich die „Bauverwaltung“ von Tamarindo in Angriff nehmen.

+ Nice comfy bed, however no bedside tables, so everything goes on the floor, kitchenette worked well, a shelf above the counter would be nice as there is not alot of counter space. The outside shared kitchen area with filtered water and a toaster was a nice touch.

- Lack of privacy, as soon as you turn on lights in the room you are exposed to everyone outside, sitting at the pool and walking by, even walking from the shower you are lit up... you have to draw curtains and be in a dark room. I really disliked that! The property is NOT a four star, the entrance/parking/road is gravel, the neighbour has a huge pile of garbage outside and you really have to plug your nose going in and out of the hotel or to your car... There should be some artwork in the room, it is quite 'soul-less'.

+ Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum von Tamarindo, trotzdem ist es eine richtige Oase! Die Zimmer sind sehr gut und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und ausgestattet. Am 24m langen Pool kann man perfekt entspannen, es ist für alle Gäste ausreichend Platz und Privatspäre. Dazu gibt es schöne Poolhandtücher, die man bei Bedarf wechseln kann. Die Küche ist gut bestückt und im Aussenbereich gibt es kostenlos gefiltertes und gekühltes Trinkwasser, so dass gekauftes Wasser aus Plastikflaschen überflüssig ist. Zum Strand geht man 5 Minuten, unzählige schöne Restaurants und Bars liegen ebenfalls in der direkten Nachbarschaft. Viktor ist ein hervorragender Gastgeber, der bei Fragen und Wünschen sofort und hilsbereit zur Stelle ist, dies gilt auch für das gesamte Team. Wir haben unsere 10 Tage vor Ort voll und ganz genossen. Vielen Dank!

- Housekeeping was slow. Very late in the day before our room was cleaned.

+ Un lugar muy agradable, cómodo, espacioso. Se debe caminar un poco para la playa pero no es complicado.
